  • WOW Classic SOD: Explore The Process Of Obtaining The Priest-Exclusive Eye Of The Void Rune In Phase 3

    In WoW Season of Discovery Phase 3, the Eye of the Void rune stands as one of the best BiS Priest runes. While it enhances damage output significantly, its primary advantage lies in cursing the target, thereby debuffing them. It provides the entire raid with a substantial 10% damage increase buff, contingent upon the curse selected.

    Key Considerations

    Regarding this rune, there are 2 crucial points to consider. Firstly, it’s impossible to have both the Eye of the Void and the Shadowfiend active simultaneously. If you cast one while the other is still in effect, the initially cast one will be replaced by the new one.

    Secondly, only one of 3 distinct curses can affect the target at any given time. Therefore, it’s essential to coordinate with the Warlocks to avoid overlapping curses. It's also a good idea to keep some WoW SOD Gold with you. There are 3 different curses to choose from that last up to 3 minutes each:

    • The Curse of Shadow, which reduces the target’s Shadow and Arcane resistance by 75 and increases our Shadow and Arcane damage by 10%.
    • The Curse of Elements, which reduces the target’s Fire and Frost resistance by 75 and increases our Fire and Frost damage by 10%.
    • The Curse of Tongues, which slows the target’s casting speed and increases the cast time of all spells on the target by up to 60%.

    Collect 7 Different Eyes

    To acquire the Eye of the Void rune as the Priest, you have to travel to 7 different locations and acquire 7 different eyes.

    Glowing Eye

    The first eye is the Glowing Eye and is located in the Hinterlands at the top of Jintha’Alor in one of the outdoor camps, specifically at coordinates (58,72). You will probably need a group for this. Run past all the elite mobs to make it to the location. We sent both of our Shadowfiends and Homunculi on the elite ads to tank them in the camp while we looted as they were in combat.

    Pulsating Eye

    The Pulsing Eye is in the Blasted Lands, located at (49,14) at the top of a tower. You will need the Light Feather because you're going to be using Slow Fall to jump from the top of a mountain towards the tower. The key with this jump is to start off mounted, run, jump, and then pop the Light Feather to get some extra distance.

    Vibrating Eye

    The Vibrating Eye is located in the slag pit of Searing Gorge, located at (44,45). Find the entrance to the cave by looking down from the top of the mountain, and then slowly inch yourself off the cliff to fall into the entrance. If you're scared, you can actually backpedal your way off the edge to land on the platform.

    Baleful Eye

    The Baleful Eye is located in Stranglethorn Vale at (33,88). It's in one of the pirate ships to the left, directly behind Captain Stillwater. You'll need to kill a few mobs to get this item, but it was easy to solo at Level 50. There are three different boats in this area, so do not get confused. When facing them, it's the one furthest to the left.

    Burning Eye

    The Burning Eye is located in Feralas at (57,68) in the Northwest Tower of Ruins of Isildien. Fight your way up the ramp and past the ogres, then head to the right where you'll find the tower. Enter it and loot your eye just behind the night elf NPC.

    Oozing Eye

    The Oozing Eye is going to be inside the Silithid Hive in the Gaping Chasm in Tanaris, located at (56,73). Enter the cave via the south entrance, head to the left, and then left again into the circular room. Walk through that room and go right at the end of the tunnel. You will see the eye at the center of the room.

    Piercing Eye

    The Piercing Eye is inside Jaedenar, located in Felwood at (35,58). The mobs there are Level 54 to 55, so you may need a friend to help you and it will be more easily. Head inside Jaedenar's entrance and fight your way through the mobs until you get to the last room. You'll see the eye on the table at the very end.

    Get The Priest Rune

    Now that you have all 7 eyes, there's one more step you need to take. Head to the very eastern part of Azshara, located at (89,33). There, you'll find the Shrine of the Watcher. Target the shrine and kneel to make the quest appear. Then loot the quest and grab your runes.

  • WOW Clssic SOD: How Can You Expedite Your Gearing Process To Prepare As Swiftly As Possible For Phase 3?

    The third phase of the WoW Season of Discovery is scheduled for release on April 4th, bringing with it a new Epic Sunken Temple raid and introducing the new level 50 bracket with various fresh content. However, to fully capitalize on this update, it’s imperative to acquire the best-in-slot gear from Gnomeregan. Without such gear, gaining entry to raids in the initial week will prove to be exceedingly challenging.

    Review Of Gnomeregan

    A pressing issue arises from the fact that there are only 3 lockouts left before reaching Sunken Temple. Given this limited timeframe, ensuring success in Pick-Up Groups (PUGs) within Gnomeregan becomes paramount.

    Another underwhelming raid performance, whether four out of six or five out of six, is simply not feasible. This raid poses as one of the most daunting challenges in the history of Classic WoW PUGs. It’s uncommon for Trade Chat PUGs to emerge successful in clearing this raid. Hence, insider tips and strategies are essential to secure significant victories in our remaining lockouts. However, overcoming these challenges should be manageable, right?

    If you’re part of a guild, raiding seems straightforward and routine at present. This is because each week, the same individuals return, employing identical strategies and tactics. However, this experience is not typical for the average PUG participant. The mechanics of these raids are often too intricate for most groups. Final bosses are particularly punishing, leading to frequent wipes. Failing on these final bosses means missing out on valuable loot, resulting in a frustrating experience. Consequently, some players opt out of raiding altogether, which is unsustainable as we require full BiS gear for Phase 3.

    Fortunately, there are tips and tricks available for PUGs to ensure success, especially in the final days of Phase 2. To demonstrate this, we conducted 2 distinct Gnomeregan runs this week, implementing lesser-known strategies to achieve perfect six out of six raid completions.

    PUG Runs At Gnomeregan

    Initially, we organized a PUG through Trade Chat, mainly comprising random players. Employing covert tactics, we ensured the group’s success without any possibility of failure. Subsequently, we assembled a team consisting solely of Rogues to demonstrate that with appropriate strategies, any raid composition can achieve success. Let’s delve into the most effective strategies and tactics to optimize your performance in Gnomeregan with any group.

    The key to success in any PUG lies in establishing a robust healing core. In our flawless six out of six Trade Chat PUG, we prioritized this aspect. Recognizing that PUG runs typically endure heightened damage, we ensured the presence of an adept Priest as the primary tank healer. Regarding the secondary healer, the choice is flexible, allowing for options such as a Restoration Shaman.

    A significant factor contributing to success in Gnomeregan is the inclusion of off-healers alongside primary healers. Both Boomkins and Shadow Priests can substantially augment raid healing, allowing the primary healers to focus on tank healing, which is less taxing on mana. In the world’s current fastest speedrun, a Shadow Priest delivered nearly 150 heals per second on Thermaplugg, while the fourth fastest run witnessed a Boomkin achieving 120 heals per second on Menagerie solely through Wild Growth. Integrating 2 healers with 2 off-healers significantly enhances consistency without compromising damage output.

    With the foundational core established, attention turns to tank selection. While I personally favor Shaman tanks as a member of the Horde, Warlock tanks also exhibit commendable performance. More crucial than the specific tank class is the tank’s comprehension of raid strategies. Additionally, an experienced off-tank is advisable for encounters like Menagerie. Given my Horde allegiance, I appreciate the versatility of having a Shaman DPS transition to an off-tank role when necessary.

    In terms of DPS, conventional methods involve scrutinizing logs to form groups. However, an alternative approach involves analyzing low percentile data on Warcraft Logs. This data reveals that classes like Melee Hunters, Shamans, Shadow Priests, Warlocks, and Mages consistently perform well, even in the hands of less seasoned players. These classes offer reliability in achieving flawless six out of six raids in a PUG setting, particularly given the advantageous positioning they enjoy in the most challenging encounters, Menagerie and Thermaplugg.

    Furthermore, unconventional strategies can yield success. Our Trade Chat PUG, despite adhering to a conventional composition, does not preclude the effectiveness of alternative class configurations. To illustrate, we executed a full Rogue group, completing the raid within an hour. Ultimately, the composition of your group is secondary to the presence of a skilled tank and adequate healing resources, which are essential for navigating the challenges presented in raids.

    Preparations For PUGs

    Now, let’s discuss the preparations you can undertake to ensure maximum success for your group before the raid commences.

    First and foremost, it’s crucial to ensure that your raid members bring consumables, and it’s advisable to bring extras as a precautionary measure. In our Trade Chat PUG, I personally invested about 8 SoD Gold in acquiring protection potions to facilitate smoother fights. While many participants may already possess these potions, it’s prudent to consider stocking up for future raids.

    Additionally, I strongly recommend acquiring the Gnomeregan buff and reserving it exclusively for use during the encounter with Thermaplugg. Once everyone has familiarized themselves with the tactics involved, activating this buff can significantly expedite progress through the fight.

    Furthermore, I suggest utilizing 2 essential WeakAuras specifically designed for Gnomeregan. The first is the Gnomeregan WeakAura developed by Fedthaar, which provides timely alerts regarding crucial abilities, target changes, and interrupts. The second is the Thermaplugg Bomb Map, a tool that vastly simplifies the intricate button mechanics associated with the encounter. Ensuring that every member of your PUG has access to these resources can greatly enhance coordination and efficiency during the raid.

    Strategies To Achieve Success In PUGs

    Now that we’ve covered the necessary groundwork, we’re ready to discuss PUG strategies aimed at maximizing our success.

    The essential element for achieving success in PUGs within Gnomeregan lies in employing strategies tailored to each encounter, ensuring effectiveness even in scenarios of poor coordination and limited experience. To exemplify this approach, I’d like to delve into 2 distinct yet successful PUG runs conducted this week. Rather than employing uniform strategies for every boss encounter, we tailored our approach based on the composition of our raid group.

    Beginning with Grub, distributing and utilizing Nature Protection Potions prior to engaging in combat significantly alleviates healing challenges. Employing 2 tanks greatly facilitates the encounter, mitigating the threat posed by Chopper to our casters. Additionally, it’s imperative to instruct your Priest to prioritize dispelling Petrify, as neglecting this mechanic can pose a substantial risk to the raid’s success.

    Transitioning to Viscous Fallout, our Trade Chat PUG prioritized AoE damage, ensuring that pre-potted Nature Protection Potions were readily available to address any healing concerns. Furthermore, we instructed our Boomkin to promptly utilize Wild Growth when the raid’s health was low. However, our approach with the Rogue team, attempting to bypass the adds and focus solely on the boss, proved to be less effective due to the potential for unnecessary casualties despite our considerable damage output.

    For Crowd Pummeler, effective execution hinges on designating a vigilant volunteer to serve as a reference point for positioning and avoiding being knocked off the edge. Although both raids successfully managed this mechanic, an unfortunate instance occurred when lag caused a participant to inadvertently fall off the platform.

    Conversely, our approach to handling Electrocutioner 6000 in the Trade Chat PUG involved organizing two groups of three players equidistant from the boss. Each group alternated between maintaining maximum distance from the boss during static mechanics, thereby streamlining the encounter and minimizing complications. This strategy underscores the efficacy of trusting in the competence of 2 players, simplifying the encounter dynamics.

    All Rogues Gnomeregan

    Regarding the Rogue group, our approach mirrored that of the previous encounters, albeit with a slight adjustment in which the Rogues maintained a closer proximity to the boss, inducing a heightened sense of apprehension. Remarkably, despite featuring a significant number of melee participants, this tactic proved highly effective.

    Transitioning to the Menagerie encounter within the Trade Chat PUG, we opted for a two-tank setup. The key to overcoming the Menagerie challenge in a PUG setting lies in the efficient management of healing resources and mana. I prefer to include a Shadow Priest among the tanking contingent for this encounter, as the tanks bear the brunt of the damage. Additionally, it's crucial to ensure that Boomkins contribute by deploying numerous Wild Growths, given their capacity to provide substantial healing while maintaining competitive damage output.

    In terms of healing distribution, I advocate for assigning each healer to a separate tank. This allocation allows for concentrated attention on specific targets, minimizing the risk of fatalities due to delayed healing.

    For the Rogue group tackling the Menagerie, we anticipated significant difficulty. To address this, the Rogues preemptively consumed Free Action Potions at the outset to swiftly dispatch the Sheep.

    Thermaplugg presents a formidable challenge, particularly in Phase 1, where proficient tank maneuvering is essential. Ideally, participants should consume Fire Protection Potions beforehand, with Free Action Potions ideally available for Phase 2.

    A noteworthy recommendation for Trade Chat PUGs is to include the Shadow Priest within the tanking ensemble. Conversely, the strategy for the Rogue group necessitated a notable shift, requiring the assignment of a Rogue rotation responsible for defusing bombs and activating buttons.

    In conclusion, we've covered various aspects, including group compositions, preparation guidelines, and optimal strategies. Armed with this knowledge, you can assemble a group equipped with ample healing capabilities to overcome every encounter. Through meticulous preparation, you can substantially enhance your group's likelihood of success, particularly in challenging battles like Thermaplugg. By striking a balance between innovative and traditional approaches, success is attainable irrespective of the composition of your group.

  • WOW Classic SOD: A Comprehensive Guide To Best-in-Slot Gear Options For Ranged Hunters In Phase 2

    With many players considering a switch to ranged builds following the Raptor Strike nerf, it's important to focus on optimizing ranged damage through gear selection. Ranged Hunters are unlikely to receive significant adjustments anytime soon.

    While some Best in Slot guides are helpful, others lack context or accuracy, potentially leading to gearing mistakes. Therefore, it's crucial to understand why certain gear pieces are recommended for Ranged Hunters in SoD Phase 2. If you want to get these items faster, be sure to use SoD Gold to equip yourself in advance. This way you can be more confident when completing tasks and killing bosses.

    Before You Read

    Before we get started, there are 2 things you need to note:

    1. It's important to note that melee weaving with either one-handers or a two-hander is currently not viable for maximizing damage output. Consequently, attributes like strength hold no value for ranged builds.
    2. It's essential to acknowledge that the game's optimal builds are still evolving, and Sims may not accurately reflect real-world performance. Thus, there's a possibility of future adjustments and refinements.

    Let's delve into the gear specifics. We'll begin with an overview of the best-in-slot gear options for Ranged Hunters in SoD Phase 2, followed by detailed explanations for each piece and alternative options if acquiring the best-in-slot items is challenging.

    Helmet

    For the head slot, acquiring the leather crafted piece, Glowing Gneuro-Linked Cowl, is recommended. Its on-use effect is highly valuable, despite being somewhat time-consuming. Obtaining it should be prioritized after the first run of Gnomeregan.

    Until then, Artemis Cowl from BFD can be used as a substitute, especially if the on-use effect of Glowing Gneuro-Linked Cowl is on cooldown and you don't require the hit bonus.

    Necklace

    For the neck, obtaining the Epic neck (Gnomeregan Peace Officer's Torque & Thermaplugg's Engineering Notes) from Gnomeregan quests is essential. It's guaranteed to drop from the last boss. 

    Although there may be significant competition initially, it becomes easier to acquire over time. In the meantime, Sentinel's Medallion from Warsong is a suitable alternative.

    Shoulders

    Regarding the shoulders, Troggslayer Pauldrons are considered the best in slot. 

    Alternatives include Mantle of the Cunning Negotiator from Viscus Fallout and Bonelink Epaulets of Agility, or Revelosh's Spaulders from Uldaman.

    Clock

    Prototype Parachute Cloak is recommended for the cloak slot. Alternatives include Gryphon Cloak of Agility or Blooddrenched Drape from the STV event, which synergizes well with Exposed Weakness. Aim for a plus three agility enchantment on the cloak.

    Chest

    For the chest, Blazewind Breastplate from the Tremors of the Earth questline in Badlands is the optimal choice. 

    While the tier chest is acceptable, it's not worth sacrificing agility. Aim for a +2 all stats enchantment on the chest.

    Wrist

    Debates surround the choice of bracers. Options include Forest Stalker's Bracers from Warsong Gulch Exalted or Experimental Aim Stabilizers. 

    Considering the bonus from Aspect of the Lion, Gnomeregan Bracers often outperform Warsong Bracers due to their higher attack power. 

    However, the crit value from the bonus agility must also be considered. A 1-agility enchantment on bracers is recommended.

    Gloves

    The glove slot offers flexibility. Ideally, carrying three pairs of gloves is advised. 

    Mechanist's Gloves are suitable for mechanical bosses, while Void-Touch Leather Gloves are recommended for non-mechanical encounters. Gauntlet of Divinity serves as an alternative when gloves are on cooldown . 

    +5 agility enchantment is preferred for gloves.

    Waist

    Darkvision Girdle is frequently used for the belt slot. 

    However, for those aiming to maximize DPS rankings, Hyperconductive Goldwrap from engineering can be advantageous if the right buff is obtained.

    Legs

    The choice between Electromantic Chausses legs and Nimble Triprunner Dungarees for the leg slot is subject to debate. 

    Considering Aspect of the Lion, forward tier pieces in legs and feet grants a bonus attack power of 57.6 compared to 52 attack power from the tier. Then the consideration arises as to whether you prefer the plus 1% hit chance offered by the tier or the plus 0.7% critical strike chance from the bonus agility of the non-tier option. 

    It's important to note that regular bosses are typically of lower level compared to normal boss mobs, so the value of hit chance diminishes slightly in later phases. 

    However, the value of intellect should not be underestimated, especially if you can sustain through the entire boss fight without needing to activate Aspect of the Viper.

    Boots

    Regarding boots, the same principle applies. We should aim to equip either the tier boots known as Electromantic Grounding Sabatons or off-agility boots like Bonelink Sabatons of Agility.

    As for the enchantment, while Minor Speed provides significant quality of life improvements, for encounters where you can remain stationary, +3 Lesser Agility would enhance your performance.

    Rings

    In terms of rings, it's preferable to opt for two rings with a 10 agility bonus each. 

    These could be obtained from items like Ring of the Underwood or Marsh Ring of Agility. Suitable alternatives until then include Pretector's Band, Falcon's Hook, or Ironspine's Eye.

    Trinkets

    For trinkets, the ideal setup involves Avenger's Void Pearl from BFD and Gyromatic Experiment 420b from the final boss in Gnomeregan. 

    In the absence of the Gnomeregan trinket, Tigerblood Talisman can serve as a temporary replacement. Additionally, if you possess the Domesticated Attack Chicken, it should be utilized whenever it's off cooldown.

    Ranged Weapons

    When it comes to the ranged weapons, prioritizing the Epic gun called Thermaplugg's Custom from the last boss in Gnomeregan is essential. 

    Before acquiring this, a viable alternative is to use a 3.0 agility gun like Sniper Rifle of Agility or the crafted gun Mithril Heavy-bore Rifle from engineering if other BoE options are not available.

    Melee Weapons

    For melee weapons, Vanquisher's Sword and Sentinel's Blade are recommended. 

    These weapons offer higher attack power compared to off-agility two-handers. Additionally, using two weapons allows for the application of Dismantle to both, as well as the use of Lesser Wizard Oil.

    Serpent Sting scales directly with spell power, and Arcane Shot has a spell power coefficient of 43.5 and 140% critical strike scaling, making the acquisition of bonus spell power highly advantageous.

  • WOW Classic SOD: A Complete Leveling Guide To Arcane Mage Healer In Phase 2

    Welcome to this new WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2 guide of Arcane Mage Healer. This time we’ll be taking a deep dive into talents, runes, and rotations. While some elements have evolved, much of it builds on the foundation laid in the first phase. So, let’s start explorating.

    Runes

    For the runes of Arcane Mage healing, the 2 staples that are going to stick around are Regeneration on chest and Arcane Blast on hands. Living flame is another strong option for legs, but it is not the deal anymore because its healing is basically non-existent. So, use a Living Flame if you want to do damage. The new alternative is actually Arcane Surge. So, they fixed some bug with it where the Regeneration is a lot better than it used to be, so you can use it in your healing build when you run out of mana.

    Next, we will get to Missile Barrage, my favorite rune of WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2 and what I think defines Mage healing. You have a 40% chance every time you use Arcane Blast to decrease the duration of your next Arcane Missiles, reduce the mana cost making it zero, and then having it fire faster. So, what that means is Mages become one of the most efficient tank Healers in the entire game depending on how many Missile Barrage procs you get.

    For boots, our last slot, you have an option between 2 choices. One is Spell Power, which just increases your crit damage. Your other option is Chronostatic Preservation, which is a 2-second cast that puts a buff on you. If you press it again within the next 15 seconds, it consumes the buff, instantly healing your target. It’s an incredibly powerful ability, but it’s kind of hard to fit into your current rotation and it costs a good amount of mana. However, if you want to give it a go, the spell power is totally fine. You don’t have to think about it, just put on your boots and blast.

    Talents

    Moving on to talents, you are going to go 31 points into Arcane. The only difference from Phase 1 is 2 unused abilities. The first is Presence of Mind, which is your the button when you’re healing. You can use it to cast an Arcane blast instantly, giving you a stack and doing a bunch of damage and healing. The second ability is Arcane Power, which is just a damage boost but at the cost of mana.

    As a Healer early in Gnomeregan, you’re probably not going to be using this often, so save it until you get a better grasp of how much mana you have at the end of fights. All the other points in the tree basically either increase your damage, mana, or crit chance. To ease your way through the Gnomeregan dungeons, it's also a good idea to bring some SOD Gold with you.

    This talent tree that I used for leveling focuses on getting you more hit and making Arcane Missiles unable to be interrupted. As a whole, leveling as Arcane is really interesting, and if you still haven’t tried it out, I would definitely recommend giving it a go.

    Rotation

    Let’s move on to the new rotation, which just adds in proc chance. Your core rotation as an Arcane Healer is going to be spamming Arcane blast until you get a Missile Barrage proc and clearing it with Arcane Missiles. The reason why this is so strong is that Arcane Blast with zero stacks only costs 59 mana, and if you actually get a Missile Barrage proc, plus the damage that Arcane Blast does, you essentially get around 1,000 plus healing for 59 mana, which is insane.

    If you don’t get the procs, it’s going to be very similar to Phase 1. Cast Arcane Blast 2 for 4 times and then pick 1 of the 3 options based on your scenario. If you’re low on mana, use your wand to drop the stacks. If you need to refresh Regeneration, do it now to drop the stacks. And then if you just want to max damage, use a default Arcane Missiles, even if you don’t have the proc.

    Final Thought

    If you’re trying to get better at healing, I recommend coming down to Thousand Needles and just trying to practice your rotation at some point. Always keep Regeneration up on your tanks, then go into spamming Arcane Blast. If you get a Missile Barrage proc, take it immediately.

    For DPS, I don’t think that’s optimal. But for healing, this is the most efficient way to use your mana. Casting a single Arcane Blast into a Missile Barrage proc is insane to heal efficiency. A few of those throughout a fight isn’t going to actually kill your mana, but if you are really good at taking the Arcane Barrage proc like instantly, it’s going to save you in the long run.

  • WOW Classic SOD: How To Get The Most Out Of Melee Hunter For Phase 2 PvP? - Talents, Runes, Gear & Gameplay

    Melee Hunter has emerged as a powerful choice in Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, demonstrating significant strength. Given the absence of any mention regarding adjustments in the latest round of class changes, it seems likely that this playstyle will persist for the foreseeable future. To begin, let's provide a brief summary covering talents, runes, gear & gameplay strategies.

    Talents

    There are 2 primary build paths for Melee Hunter: one emphasizes pet-focused Beast Mastery, while the other delves into an all-in Lone Wolf Deep Survival approach. No matter which path you choose, you will inevitably need to invest a lot of WoW SOD Gold.

    In PvE scenarios, Deep Survival holds an edge in simulation testing and theoretical calculations. However, Beast Mastery performs admirably with current pre-Best in Slot (BiS) gear. Conversely, in PvP environments, despite pets boasting significant damage output, Beast Mastery faces a key challenge: it heavily relies on pets, which can be vulnerable to crowd control effects when major abilities like Bestial Wrath are on cooldown.

    Bestial Wrath provides your pet with crowd control immunity, but its cooldown leaves you susceptible to single crowd control effects like polymorph or fear. While the stun it offers is beneficial, its reliance on pets makes it less dependable in the current meta. 

    The Survival tree, on the other hand, offers a plethora of valuable PvP abilities that enhance your resilience and diminish the importance of your pet. These include increased stamina, defensive cooldowns like Deterrence, improved hit chance, crowd control resistance, and enhanced trap effectiveness—all highly advantageous in PvP engagements.

    Survival presents players with a multitude of beneficial options, necessitating some tough decisions. Due to limited talent points, prioritizing between various crowd control improvements becomes crucial. Players may choose to allocate points differently between talents like improved Wing Clip and trap enhancements based on their preferred playstyle and situational needs. 

    While traps are potent tools, they often require setup or the use of Feign Death to be effective. Conversely, Wing Clip offers versatility, enabling players to immobilize flag carriers, enemy melee, and occasionally ranged opponents. Players should experiment with talent point allocation based on personal preferences and playstyle, ensuring essential active abilities such as Deterrence, Counterattack, and Wyvern Sting are prioritized.

    Runes

    When considering runes for a Melee Hunter build, flexibility is limited, particularly on the right side of the rune tree.

    To optimize Melee Hunter performance, prioritizing full melee runes is essential. Both Dual Wield Specialization and Melee Specialist are indispensable for maximizing damage output, leaving little room for deviation. The remaining rune slots present a choice of the best available options. 

    However, the chest slot offers the only significant decision point. Here, players must choose between compromising the build to incorporate a pet with Heart of the Lion or committing fully to the Lone Wolf playstyle.

    Despite potential concerns about sacrificing pet utility, especially in PvP scenarios, current dynamics suggest otherwise. In Phase 2 PvP, the focus revolves around rapid bursts of damage or swift elimination, where the Lone Wolf approach aligns seamlessly with the prevailing meta. Opting to retain a pet may warrant considering Beast Mastery over Carve, although otherwise, the rune selection remains relatively standard.

    Gear

    When it comes to gearing, the focus should be on acquiring items with high agility, strength, and attack power attributes. However, special attention is warranted for weapon selection.

    For pre-BiS setups, prioritize equipping the Warsong or Silverwing PvP sword in the main hand and the Razorfen Downs quest reward in the off hand. These weapons are easily obtainable and offer superior performance compared to other options until acquiring loot from Gnomeregan, particularly the dual fist weapons. 

    Due to the mechanics of Dual Wield Specialization requiring identical weapon types in both hands, it's essential to maintain consistency. While Orcs seeking to maximize their racial bonuses may consider the axes, acquiring them, especially as one is a BoE drop, can be more challenging, making the swords a more practical choice.

    For the bow slot, the STV epic (Bloodlash Bow) stands out as the optimal choice due to its impact on proc effects during melee attacks. While primarily functioning as a ranged weapon, its proc effect significantly enhances its utility, making it the top choice among available options. 

    For those seeking meticulous optimization, carrying a dedicated ranged weapon such as a standard gun or the Warsong faction reputation bow alongside the Bloodlash Bow allows for macro-based swapping in situations such as being rooted, pursuing an opponent, or kiting. While not strictly necessary, having these options available can prove advantageous.

    Gameplay

    Now, let's delve into general gameplay strategies.

    Firstly, it's crucial to acknowledge that the classic Hunter archetype struggles to adapt as a true melee class. Unlike modern iterations of the Survival spec, the original 2004 Hunter lacks essential tools for close-quarters combat, such as gap closers and reliable defensive abilities. Despite these limitations, the spec excels not only in sheer damage output but also in its unique playstyle reminiscent of Rogues.

    In combat, focus on maintaining a dynamic approach, utilizing abilities like Raptor Strike and Flanking Strike to unleash bursts of damage while capitalizing on control tools to dictate the flow of battle. Adeptly navigating multi-target scenarios is a key strength, but exercise caution to avoid overcommitting in open spaces. Embrace your ranged capabilities, strategically deploying abilities like Multi-Shot and stings while positioning yourself for opportune moments to engage in melee combat.

    In defensive situations, Hunters shine as vigilant guardians, leveraging utility to support allies and disrupt enemy tactics. Deploy traps and flares strategically, cripple enemy melee threats with Wing Clip, and neutralize key targets with Wyvern Sting—a versatile ability that serves various purposes, from crowd control to damage over time application.

    Utilize Feign Death not only to evade threats but also as an interrupt tool against enemy spellcasters. By timing Feign Death to disrupt incoming casts, you can gain crucial advantages in combat. Additionally, remember to exploit aspect shifting to adapt to different scenarios. While Monkey aspect offers combat benefits, Cheetah and Pack aspects provide tactical advantages for mobility and group support, respectively.

    Maintain awareness of positioning during combat, maximizing the effectiveness of Dodge and Parry by keeping foes in front of you. Strafing to face opponents may seem unconventional but significantly enhances survivability, especially when combined with defensive abilities like Deterrence.

    In PvP encounters, capitalize on disruptive abilities like Viper Sting to drain enemy resources and impair their effectiveness. Target classes vulnerable to Viper Sting, such as Mages, to exert control over the battlefield. Similarly, exploit the utility of Scare Beast against Druids and Shamans, disrupting their strategies and draining their resources even if they manage to evade the effect.

    The topic we're discussing is how to acquire the pre-raid best-in-slot chest pieces for every melee DPS class in WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2. So, next is a guide on how you can obtain one of these coveted chest pieces through a quest.

    Quests For Alliance & Horde

    For this quest, you will need to first head to the Badlands. No matter which faction you are, Alliance players will need to complete the 'Tremors of the Earth' quest, and Horde players will need to complete the 'Broken Alliances' quest. Both quests yield the same rewards - Blazewind Breastplate and Warforged Chestplate. In order for you to complete these quests more smoothly, it is not a bad thing to prepare enough SOD Gold.

    Sign Of The Earth

    For Alliance players, there is a prerequisite where you must complete the 'Mirages' quest. This quest starts with Sigrin Ironhew at the camp on top of the hill. The Mirages prerequisite is straightforward. You start at the camp, head to a location with some Ogres and Camp Kosh, grab a supply crate, and bring it back.

    Once you’ve completed Mirages, head south to speak to a Blood Elf named Garrick. Garrick will ask you to retrieve the 'Sign of the Earth' from an ogre named Boss Tho'grun. TheBoss Tho'grun is very close to Garrick, just southwest of his camp. He patrols clockwise in a huge radius across the entire map and can also spawn in the southwest corner of the map. Fight and kill Boss Tho'grun, and pick up the 'Sign of the Earth'.

    For Horde players, there’s no prerequisite. You should be able to accept your quest in Kargath. Now, you need to kill Boss Tho'grun, hunt him down, kill him, and collect your 'Sign of the Earth'.

    Boss Fight

    Now, onto the last part of the quest. One person will need to collect 3 items from towers spread across Lethlor Ravine. These items are used to summon the upcoming fight, but only one player needs to collect them. First, head to the Pillar of Opal and interact with it. Next, head to the Pillar of Amethyst and grab that one. Finally, head to the Pillar of Diamond and grab your last item. Once you have all 3 gems, you can now summon the two dragons.

    But these dragons are Level 50 elites, so be prepared to kite them as they hit really hard and cannot be tanked easily. The strategy is to have a hunter kite them. You need the Hunter to kite them because they can’t be slowed. Other classes like rogues cannot kite, as their move speed is 120% while hunters can move at 130% with Aspect of the Cheetah. Have your hunter kite the dragon around, passing aggro if possible. In the event you have multiple hunters, just keep doing this, running around in circles until you defeat them.

    This is obviously a lot easier the more people you have. So, having several players to help out or joining another group if they’re working on it as well will make everybody’s life a lot easier. But it is possible to do without a large number of players. If you don’t have a large group as an Alliance player, you can kite the dragon to Lock Modan and get some help from the guards. The biggest benefit here isn’t actually the DPS from the guards, but it’s actually kiting out of Badlands and into Loch Modan where you’re in a zone with far less dangerous mobs that are much less likely to daze you when you’re in Aspect of the Cheetah.

    This chest piece is going to be precious for every single physical DPS class, whether you’re a Retribution Paladin, a Warrior, a Rogue, or a Hunter.     This guide will illustrate how I achieved the second-highest DPS globally in the WoW Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2 Gnomeregan raid as a Fire Mage.

    Talents

    You should put 29 points in Fire for this build:

    • Improved Fireball (5 points)
    • Ignite (5 points)
    • Incinerate (2 Points)
    • Pyroblast (1 point)
    • Burning Soul (2 Points)
    • Improved Scorch (3 points)
    • Master of Elements (3 points)
    • Critical Mass (3 points)
    • Blast Wave (1 point)
    • Fire Power (4 points)

    Also, you should put 2 points in Frost for this build:

    • Elemental Precision (2 Points)

    The rationale behind this is the challenge Fire Mages face with hit accuracy. To address this, until you reach 5% hit with your equipment, you'll require assistance from the Elemental Precision talent in the Frost tree.

    Runes

    For runes, you should choose from the following 5:

    • Living Bomb
    • Hot Streak
    • Living Flame
    • Spell Power
    • Burnout

    Gear

    You're primarily stacking 5% hit, spell power, spell crit, intellect, and MP5.

    While leveling, I recommend doing BFD every 3 days as it gives you great experience and most of the items will be pre-BiS going into Gnomeregan.

    When you hit 40, I highly recommend purchasing these items off the Auction House:

    • Red Mageweave Pants
    • Star Belt,
    • Dreamweave Gloves
    • Dreamweave Vest

    The Blood Moon event in STV will give you the Bloodrot Cloak (cape) and the Emberblood Seal (ring).

    Besides, the Mage quest line will give you the Celestial Orb (offhand) and the Ragefire Wand.

    You can get all of these items in just a few hours and then go straight into Gnomeregan.

    Single Target Rotation

    1. Cast Pyroblast before the pull
    2. Living Bomb on CD
    3. Living Flame on CD
    4. Scorch x 5
    5. Instant Pyroblast on Hot Streak procs
    6. Fire Blast always just before death
    7. Scorch to fill

    Multi-Target Rotation

    1. Cast Pyroblast before the pull
    2. Living Flame to target with the highest health that's near the most amount of mobs (For example, the chicken on the menagerie fight is a great Living Flame target.)
    3. Living Bomb every target on CD
    4. Scorch to fill

    Ideally, you would maintain 5 stacks of Scorch on every target and Living Bomb for the highest DPS. I recommend a weak aura to track your Living Bomb uptime and Hot Streak procs.

    Race

    Choose Gnome for Alliance because of the increased Intellect and Troll for Horde because of Berserking, which gives you Haste.

    Professions

    I suggest opting for Tailoring and Engineering to acquire the helmet and hit belt.

    However, it's important to note that these items are presently quite costly if purchased from the auction house. You would require approximately 250+ WoW SoD Gold solely to obtain the materials needed for crafting the tailoring helmet.

    As for the 20 spell power Sigil of Innovation from Enchanting, I advise against it at the moment. This is because the spell power it provides doesn't stack with Arcane Elixir. We're optimistic that this will be addressed in the near future.

    Consumables

    Here are some consumables you must bring:

    1. Underestimate The Importance Of Professions

    Let's begin by discussing professions

    Since the release of Phase 1, Blizzard has placed significant emphasis on professions in Season of Discovery. They aim to make professions feel meaningful and integral to the game, akin to other core systems.

    In Phase 1, we witnessed the introduction of substantial items across all professions, often serving as best-in-slot gear or contributing significantly to character progression. Phase 2 continues this trend, with Blizzard further enhancing crafting professions such as leatherworking, blacksmithing, and tailoring by introducing formidable items.

    Moreover, Phase 2 extends this focus to traditionally consumable professions like Alchemy or Enchanting, providing compelling items tailored to practitioners of these trades. It's likely that more additions await these professions in subsequent phases.

    The key takeaway here is to not underestimate the importance of professions. They have played a crucial role in the past and are poised to remain significant in the future. 

    However, it's essential to conduct thorough research to determine which profession aligns best with your character's needs. While Blizzard has bolstered professions, they have also somewhat restricted players' choices, with certain classes now favoring specific professions—blacksmithing for warriors, leatherworking for hunters, and so forth.

    Nonetheless, there is one profession that has consistently held value since Vanilla and is arguably the optimal secondary profession for all players.

    2. Blindly Choose Engineering

    Now, let's discuss engineering

    Engineering has consistently been regarded as the premier profession for maximizing your performance in various aspects of the game, including PvP, raiding, and dungeons. Engineers have long benefited from access to an array of powerful and unique items, spanning from classic WoW through TBC, Wrath of the Lich King, and now into Season of Discovery.

    Regrettably, opting for engineering often limits your choice of secondary profession. However, if achieving optimal damage output is your priority, engineering paired with a complementary main crafting profession tailored to your class is the optimal path to pursue.

    Of course, if your focus lies elsewhere and you prioritize other aspects such as personal preference or wealth accumulation in Season of Discovery, feel free to select a profession accordingly. For instance, on my main character, I've opted for enchanting as it aligns with my preference for disenchanting items I no longer require.

    Ultimately, the decision between engineering and other professions hinges on your priorities and playstyle preferences. If maximizing damage output is paramount, engineering stands as the clear choice, supplemented by a suitable secondary crafting profession.

    3. Overlook PvP Reputations

    Let's delve into reputations.

    In classic WoW, reputations played a relatively minor role in the game. Apart from specific attunements or acquiring niche pre-BiS (Best in Slot) items, reputation grinding was often considered optional. However, in Season of Discovery, this paradigm is shifting significantly.

    Phase 1 introduced PvP reputations such as Silverwing Sentinel and Warsong Outriders, which held considerable significance. These factions not only unlocked exclusive mounts, but also offered potent gear pieces and even a weekly world buff. PvP events fueled ongoing conflicts between the Horde and Alliance, further emphasizing the importance of these reputations.

    Phase 2 introduces quests to earn Arathi Basin reputation tied to the Stranglethorn PvP event. While the current items associated with Arathi Basin are beyond our level range, future updates may introduce level 40 items to this reputation's rewards. Additionally, future phases are likely to introduce PvP events that grant reputation with Alterac Valley, which boasts its own array of formidable items.

    It's crucial not to overlook PvP reputations in Season of Discovery.

    Furthermore, Season of Discovery introduces a new reputation: the Azeroth Commerce Authority/Durotar Supply and Logistics. This reputation, initially honored in Phase 1 and potentially reaching revered in Phase 2, offers a rune for each class locked behind its progression.

    Ensuring you unlock every rune is essential in Season of Discovery. Unlike classic WoW, where classes remained relatively static, Blizzard frequently adjusts classes, often utilizing runes to do so. A rune that may seem lackluster presently could become optimal for your class with a single hotfix.

    4. Leave Crates Unattended In Your Bags

    Regarding the supply reputation, progression involves turning in Waylaid Supplies found throughout the world. 

    These supplies can be turned in as is for reduced reputation gain or filled with requested items for greater rewards. Given Blizzard's adjustment to increase experience gained from turning in Waylaid Supplies, promptly delivering these items to a capital city becomes even more critical in Phase 2.

    While it's uncertain whether filling supplies impacts the XP gained, prioritizing this activity ensures efficient reputation gain. Even if filling crates proves costly, it's advisable to do so whenever feasible. 

    Leaving crates unattended in your bags risks missing out on obtaining new ones.

    5. Careless With Gold

    Let's address the issue of financial management, particularly the oversight of gold.

    In Phase 2 of Season of Discovery, reaching level 40 marks a significant milestone synonymous with obtaining a mount. In classic WoW, acquiring a mount was a substantial investment, with the level 60 mount costing a staggering 1,000 gold. Even at level 40, mounts demanded 100 gold, a considerable sum that required prudent spending to amass.

    Fortunately, in Season of Discovery, mount costs have considerably decreased. For players not Honored with their race faction and below PvP Rank 3, the combined cost of the skill and mount is now merely 50 gold instead of 100. Achieving Honored status and Rank 3 reduces this cost further to 40 gold. Accumulating 40 or 50 gold by level 40 is far more achievable than the previous 100 gold requirement.

    In classic WoW, obtaining a mount at level 40 was crucial due to the substantial remainder of levels before reaching endgame, significantly enhancing travel efficiency. However, in Season of Discovery Phase 2, the endgame itself is level 40, diminishing the urgency of acquiring a mount immediately upon reaching this level.

    While having a mount promptly in Season of Discovery remains advantageous, the difference between reaching a location in 10 versus 15 minutes is relatively minor. Moreover, the economic landscape of Season of Discovery differs significantly from classic WoW, with gold acquisition being notably swifter.

    Nevertheless, exercising caution with gold expenditure to ensure adequate funds for a mount by level 40 remains prudent. While it is less critical than before, prudent financial planning remains beneficial, albeit with the understanding that gold acquisition at max level through completing quests is notably expedited.

    6. Not Aware Of The Impact Of Quest Selection On Rewards 

    Discussing quests, the level cap of 40 in Phase 2 signals the onset of significant decisions regarding quest rewards

    Now, let's briefly touch upon well-known items that should never be discarded. Carrot on a Stick, a vital item for enhancing travel efficiency, should always be kept and is obtainable at level 40. School of Impending Doom serves PvP players by breaking CC effects, also available at level 40. Similarly, Nifty Stopwatch proves useful in PvP scenarios. 

    However, the primary focus here is on quest reward selections, which may hold considerable value for your class but could be chosen inadvertently, potentially resulting in overlooking a pre-raid Best in Slot (BiS) gear piece. The Whirlwind Axe for Warriors exemplifies this, likely to be pre-raid BiS in Phase 2. While other weapons remain viable, the axe stands out as the optimal choice. Although this is just one instance, similar choices may arise for your class as you approach maximum level.

    Gnomeregan is expected to house most, if not all, of the best-in-slot pieces at level 40, underscoring that quest rewards discussed here are, at best, pre-BiS. Nonetheless, if an item qualifies as pre-BiS for your character, exercise careful consideration when selecting it.

    A helpful guideline to follow is to tailor your item choices to your intended specialization as you near level 40. Whether you plan to be a healer or DPS, prioritize items aligned with your chosen role. Adhering to this principle should help mitigate the risk of selecting unsuitable gear. Ultimately, while quest rewards may influence your character's progression, their impact is limited, making the choice less consequential in the grand scheme of things.

    7. Not Understand The Volatility Of Runes

    Earlier in this guide, I emphasized the significance of unlocking all available runes. To underscore this importance, let's examine how classes have been managed in Season of Discovery thus far.

    Despite Blizzard's initial intent to maintain a hands-off approach to class adjustments in Season of Discovery, the reality has been quite different. We've witnessed numerous alterations to every class in the game, indicating the evolving nature of SoD. Continuous class tweaking is essential to prevent destabilization within the game. In SoD, Blizzard frequently implements these adjustments through rune modifications.

    Phase 1 saw significant changes to runes, with some transitioning from top-tier to obsolete overnight, and vice versa. Understanding the volatility of rune dynamics underscores the necessity of unlocking all available runes. Doing so not only enhances your class versatility but also ensures you remain informed about prevailing meta trends, should that align with your interests.

    In today's discussion, I will address a recent development concerning Phase 2 of WoW Season of Discovery. Blizzard has officially declared the prohibition of GDKP (Gold-DKP) raiding in this phase. This guide aims to delve into the positive aspects of GDKP raiding, its drawbacks, and significantly, my proposal for an alternative that not only serves as a substitute but also enhances the loot system for Season of Discovery players.

    Why GDKP Is Good?

    Just so we’re all on the same page, a GDKP raid is one where items that drop are sold to the highest gold bidder. All winning bids are collected into a pot, and the pot is divided amongst all participants at the end of the raid. Let’s talk about a few of those benefits.

    One reason why the GDKP loot format is good is that it provides an incentive for players to stay until the end of the raid, when the total gold pot is divided amongst all the players. In other loot formats, some players will leave after the boss that drops the item they want dies. GDKP provides an actual incentive for them to stay till the end of the raid, reducing mid-raid departures.

    GDKP also provides an incentive for players who are mostly or fully geared to continue attending the raid. The SOD Gold payout at the end can be spent on consumables, repairs, profession leveling, or used to help gear up another character. In contrast, other loot systems may not offer such incentives for geared players to continue attending.

    Another benefit of GDKP is that everyone gets something valuable for their time. With most other loot systems, the most likely outcome is leaving the raid with no items, a small repair bill, having spent consumables, and with the exact same odds of not making any character progress in the next raid. GDKP ensures progress, either in terms of more gold to spend or walking out with an item.

    Additionally, the points or gold earned in GDKP raids are transferable to any other group. This flexibility allows players to join different raids, making it easier to play with different people each week.

    Why GDKP Is Bad?

    Certainly, if GDKP raiding wasn’t bad, Blizzard wouldn’t be banning it. In a GDKP raid, the more gold you’re able to spend, the more loot you can get. This popularity of GDKP makes it easy for cheaters to turn bought gold into character progress, making cheating more tempting. The negative stigma attached to GDKP raids, contributes to the ban. Many players form opinions based on these highlights, which are not the norm, leading them to avoid participating in GDKP raids.

    Emblem Auction Loot

    With Blizzard banning GDKP raids in Phase 2, I thought a new loot system option could be implemented – the Emblem Auction loot format. In this system, bosses drop an Emblem currency for all raiders, and the boss loot is auctioned for Emblems through the in-game interface.

    The highest bidder gets the item, the Emblems are deleted, and the process repeats. Emblems can only be acquired from raids with this loot system enabled, and they cannot be traded to other players. Emblems could also be exchanged with an NPC for a moderate reward, such as gold or other desirable items.

    This is essentially a DKP system with transferable points, minus the administrative work and overhead associated with traditional DKP systems. It provides incentives for everyone to kill every boss to earn Emblems, and since Emblems are only obtained in raids and can only be spent in specific ways.

    The Emblem Auction system mimics the benefits of GDKP, such as everyone getting something valuable for their time and geared characters still being incentivized to attend raids. If Blizzard could implement a loot system like the Emblem Auction loot format, which could replicate many benefits of GDKP while minimizing the risk of transactions.

    Let's delve into the most efficient and rapid prep for WoW Season of Discovery Phase 2. 

    The Importance Of Phase 2 Preparation

    Firstly, let's emphasize the importance of Phase 2 prep. 

    While Phase 2 is approaching, there is still ample time for last-minute preparations. With proper planning, you can streamline tasks that would otherwise be necessary in Phase 2, such as leveling alts from 1 to 25 or securing flight paths. Engaging in Phase 2 Pre-BiS farming is something you could already be doing.

    Consider Phase 2 prep as an investment of time now to create flexibility later. The time you save can be dedicated to activities like battling for Arena Grand Master trinkets, participating in Arathi Basin, and clearing the new Gnomeregan Raid.

    Acquiring Runes In Phase 2

    However, Phase 2 prep can be overwhelming. To maximize efficiency within our time constraints, we need a clear plan for the shortest possible execution. Let's begin with actively leveling your character and obtaining runes. If your SoD Phase 2 characters haven't reached level 25, now is the time.

    RFC and Stockades boosting become essential here. For less than 15 SOD Gold, you can swiftly boost a character from level 8 to 19 in just a few hours. This is crucial as it allows you to begin accumulating Rested XP at level 25 with the new patch while focusing on your main.

    Simultaneously, seize the opportunity to swiftly collect all the remaining runes. Summoning services are now available for nearly every rune location, and acquiring any individual rune won't take more than a few minutes, with a few exceptions like Metamorphosis. Utilize the LFG Group Bulletin Board to promptly identify who is selling summons at each location.
