  Furthermore, if you are a die-hard Mini Seasons fan, this change benefits you too: you can switch the standard three-inning games to full nine-inning contests for a deeper, more immersive experience.

  That said, even without the new issues that have plagued the mode, there is still room for improvement in MLB 26's Mini Seasons, such as adding even more customization options.

  Adjustments to pitching mechanics

  A few weeks ago, an update to the strike zone in MLB The Show 26 effectively resolved a specific issue with pitch detection: instances where a pitch would clip the edge of the strike zone but fail to register as a strike.

  Fortunately, this detection logic has been fixed. If you enjoy pitching or excel at it, this change not only improves your gameplay experience but may also help you explore new tactical strategies.

  For instance, you can now attempt inside-corner sliders, as well as sliders and cutters targeting the front hip, without worrying that the ball might drift into the center of the zone and become an automatic strike.

  Under the old system, pitches would easily drift into the heart of the plate (dead center), making them easy targets for opposing batters.

  Now, however, by slightly adjusting the target location toward the inner corner, a pitcher can avoid the center while still clipping the edge of the zone to secure a called strike.

  Furthermore, breaking balls aimed low, or low and away, can now also clip the corner. This means batters are forced to swing at pitches they might have previously let go by without consequence.

  This makes pitching a more viable strategy and could potentially speed up the pace of play, as more pitches are put into play for valid hits, while pitchers maintain a degree of control.

  In a game like MLB The Show 26, which relies heavily on player reflexes, hitting usually dominates; the updates to the strike zone effectively strike a new balance between hitting and pitching.

  Exquisite card art design

  In MLB 26, or similar sports titles like FC 26, player card stats are certainly crucial. However, card art that aligns with specific programs or collection themes, and simply looks great, is also a major factor in motivating players to grind for them.

  Admittedly, judging art design is subjective, as everyone has different tastes and aesthetic preferences. Even so, the diverse themes offer a variety of styles, ensuring you can always find something that appeals to you.

  That said, it must be noted that the developers responsible for MLB 26's technical aspects and gameplay mechanics have arguably let down the art team. For any game, gameplay is the key factor; excellent visuals are merely the icing on the cake.

  Strong performance from Topps Now Series

  While this series represents just one facet of MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty mode, the user experience stands out: the cards feature impressive designs, and the players themselves offer genuine value, making them worth acquiring.

  Take Cole Carrigg for instance; capable of playing multiple positions, he is currently one of the most useful bench players in MLB 26. He boasts solid arm strength, base-stealing ability, speed, and hitting skills.

  Chase Petty is another player worth mentioning. As a right-handed pitcher, his solid H/9 stats earn him a spot in MLB 26 meta, which is currently dominated by switch-hitters. Despite a few shortcomings, his overall performance remains impressive.

  However, it is worth noting that if you aim to complete your Collections, you must acquire every single card. This requires obtaining more packs, which consumes a significant amount of time and effort.

  The return of the event program

  The launch of Moonshot II Event marks the return of Event mode, bringing clear objectives to the competition rather than just mindless grinding.

  More specifically, these events now feature concrete rules and mechanics. For instance, you can earn cards that help complete collection tasks or receive special pack rewards through gameplay.

  That said, the system has its flaws; events are not available around the clock, and there are often gaps of at least a week between them. This seems unnecessary unless a major event, like the recent Summer Series, is scheduled for the near future.

  In reality, interim events could easily be introduced to fill the gaps between these major events. Even without specific card rewards, XP or stubs would be welcome incentives. Ultimately, players shouldn't find themselves with nothing to do in MLB 26.

  Conclusion

  While the aforementioned positives are undeniable, unfortunately, they are far from sufficient to salvage the current quality and reception of Diamond Dynasty or MLB The Show 26 as a whole.
