Diablo 4 Season 2: How To Farm Living Steel Fast In Helltides? - Mechanisms Behind Living Steel Chests
Category: Diablo 4 Posted: Oct 27, 2023 Views: 3604
With the well-deserved success and general positive reception of Diablo 4’s second season, many players praise the quality-of-life changes, the new vampiric skill system and the addition of the world bosses.
Among these, Duriel is the most sought after, since his loot is the rarest and most powerful. The boss is a cakewalk for a decently built character. Of course, the premise is that you have to prepare a lot of Diablo 4 Gold to upgrade your character.
However, in order to summon him, players need to collect Living Steel from Helltides. And this can be a tedious task, especially when compared to the similar, but much more fun and player-friendly Blood Harvest.
So, in this guide, we’ll take a deep-dive into the mechanisms of how the new Living Steel chests operate, despawn and respawn, and how you can use this knowledge to your advantage and optimize how you farm Living Steel.

#1: The Cost Of Opening A Living Steel Chest
The average player would skip over this part of the guide, saying: what about the cost? It costs 300 Aberrant Cinders to open a chest. It’s that simple, isn’t it? No.
For some reason, even if it says that you need 300 Cinders to open a chest, you actually only need 280. In fact, you can open a Living Steel chest even if you have as low as 280 Aberrant Cinders on you.
#2: The Number Of Chests
There can be either 2 or 3 Living Steel chests up at the same time, and this number depends on which zone is affected by the Helltide.
If the Helltide is in Scosglen or Kehjistan, there will be 3 Living Steel chests present on the map at the same time. For any other zone, this number is only 2.
For example, this Helltide only affects the region of Kehjistan, therefore you’d expect 3 chests being there at any given time. Clear? Good.
So far, everything has been relatively straightforward, but there is an additional twist to the spawning of Living Steel Chests. And the understanding of this mechanism separates a decent Helltide farmer from an efficient one: the Living Steel chests, similarly to Mystery chests, respawn at another location on the top of the hour.

In practice, this means that at exactly at the top of the hour (for example at six o’clock 0 minutes, five o’clock 0 minutes and so on), the chests disappear from their original positions, and respawn somewhere else.
If you opened a chest before this reset, then you’ll get to open the newly spawned ones after the respawn. This doubles the number of chests you can potentially open during one Helltide, and dramatically changes the optimal farming method of Living Steel. Because ideally you’ll want to open all Living Steel chests before this reset, and all of them after the reset as well.
Now this is not always possible, since the Helltide can end at the top of the hour (in this case there is no respawn) or it can begin very close to the top if the hour, in which case there is simply not enough time to farm the required Aberrant Cinders before the reset.
Nevertheless, an experienced Living Steel farmer should always maximize the number of chests opened during Helltide by taking advantage of this mechanism.
Hopefully, this guide has been useful for you, and maybe you learned some tricks on how to make the grind for Living Steel just a little bit less painful.

Diablo 4 Season 14 War Plans Complete Activity Guide | Node Choices for Every Mode
In Diablo 4 Season 14, War Plans system remains your top priority, regardless of what content you prefer to farm. No matter your chosen activity, you must align your War Plans nodes accordingly; otherwise, your overall returns will suffer a noticeable decline.
If you are looking to maximize the efficiency of acquiring gear, materials, and experience, the following recommendations outline the most effective nodes for each major game mode during Season of Death Awakening.

Season 14 War Plans Overview
Season 14 introduces Group War Plans, a feature that activates when you are in a party with other players. In this mode, you can opt to synchronize your War Plans with your teammates. The system will initiate a confirmation vote, and once all members agree, your War Plans tree will visually match that of your allies.
However, this synchronization does not automatically replicate the specific nodes you have already selected. Your group will still need to communicate internally about each member's assigned route. Additionally, every Refresh is well worth performing, because there is a chance to roll nodes of Mythic quality.
Tree of Whispers
Tree of Whispers operates on a straightforward loop: complete Whisper bounties to collect Grim Favors. Once you have accumulated ten Favors, head to Raven to turn them in. The experience you gain from this turn-in depends on your character's level at the time of completing Whispers, and this experience gradually raises your Tree of Whispers rank.
Defeating any world boss grants five Grim Favors, even without opening the subsequent chest. Likewise, traveling to the PvP zone and killing Seedthing Abomination also yields 5 Favors upon its defeat.
Recommended Path
The middle route is the most versatile choice. If you are after materials, you can select nodes like Simple Gift and Material Wealth. For leveling purposes, Wisdom of Whispers is a strong option, though taking it means you cannot also choose Material Wealth.
At the very bottom of the middle path lies Resplendent Favors. Its benefit is valuable only when you need to craft specific mythic gear, but after that, its utility fades. You can decide whether to invest in it based on your personal needs.
If you intend to farm Exposed Roots, then consider the three nodes on the left side. By placing root tendrils, you can obtain various materials across different zones. This serves as a practical supplementary method and is well worth the farming effort.
Nightmare Dungeons
In Season 14, Nightmare Dungeons offer substantial War Plans experience. The higher your Torment tier, the more War Plans experience you will earn.
One critical note: within Escalating Nightmares, Astaroth is exceptionally powerful and extremely durable. For your first attempt, it is advisable to lower your Torment level by two steps to test your survivability and avoid being quickly overwhelmed.
Recommended Path
The middle route is advisable because it increases your chances of obtaining desired rewards:
- Dread Revival: The final boss of the dungeon has a chance to resurrect, effectively granting you an extra loot drop.
- Recurring Nightmare: After defeating the boss, there is a probability that Escalation Sigils will drop.
- Branching Pathways: Upon completing each dungeon floor, three portal options appear. More choices mean a higher likelihood of finding the rewards you seek, such as gems or Diablo 4 gold.
The left route focuses on shrines; apart from generating additional enemies, it also provides bonus rewards after finishing the dungeon. Meanwhile, the right-side nodes, which involve goblins, are generally more favorable than the shrine path.
Helltides
Helltides are the most rewarding mechanic in Season 14. Not only can you rapidly advance to Paragon 300, but you can also amass enormous quantities of gold and materials.
Within Helltides, Ruptures appear frequently. Alongside ordinary Ruptures, there is a chance for Surging Ruptures to spawn, which are larger in scale and may generate a Realmwalker. The more monsters you slay, the longer a Rupture persists. Ruptures can contain chests, goblins, and other rewards, all of which drop before the event ends.
Furthermore, killing monsters inside Helltide Ruptures grants reputation with Bounty Board, which in turn unlocks the Mystery Greater Archetype Cache. This cache drops a large quantity of items, including gear that is guaranteed to be Ancestral quality along with cube materials.
Recommended Path
Start by taking Hellmouth route, then proceed to Wither and Rot. This combination ensures that Hellwryms within Helltide will always produce Maggots (which grant substantial XP) and also increases Monster Power by +1. The Wither and Rot nodes additionally allow you to encounter Lair Bosses during Helltide.
After that, you can branch to the right toward Meat Brothers. When your Threat Meter depletes, it triggers a fight against Butchered Brothers. Defeating them gives a chance to obtain Profane Mindcages.
Hellwryms have fixed potential spawn points in each Helltide zone. It is recommended to keep your Threat Meter at least half-full, because worm appearances become noticeably more frequent once your threat exceeds that threshold.
The Undercity
In Season 14, Mythic Tribute of Armaments yields Mythic items at roughly a 30% rate, which is a reasonably favorable probability. Therefore, farming Mythic Tributes is worthwhile, though you should not expect a consistent output of three to five mythics per run.
Recommended Path
On the right side, you can select Jade Epiphany node to accelerate leveling and gain +1 Monster Power. Then switch to the left side and work your way down to Trials and Tributes. This route gives you a chance, when activating Beacons, to trigger a Portal Prankster, which increases both the number of chests and the total loot volume.
Lair Boss
Lair Bosses remain one of the best sources for Mythic items in Season 14.
Recommended Path
First, choose the leftmost nodes: Lair of Runes and Lair of Plenty. These two nodes provide an extra Horde Chest at the end of the boss fight, effectively doubling your rewards.
Keep in mind that the boss itself is at least one Torment tier above your current level, and War Plans further increase monster strength. Make sure your damage output is sufficient.
After that, move to the middle route and select Ultimate Nemesis. Upon defeating the boss, there is a chance that a portal will appear, lasting only 30 seconds. Be certain to carry at least five Superior Keys at all times; otherwise, you will not be able to open the chest inside.
Infernal Hordes
Infernal Hordes have received buffs in Season 14, making several nodes worth trying.
Recommended Path
On the left, you can allocate points to Exalted Council, Council Coffers, and Infernal Horde to unlock Chest of Talismans and Horde of Greater Equipment. If you prefer Chaos Waves, then the middle route is a better fit.
The Pits
The Pits in Season 14 mainly provide extra Glyph upgrade attempts, up to a maximum of nine, which is extremely helpful for advancing your Glyphs.
Recommended Path
Start from the left side and select Choron's Haste, Heart of the Stone, and Damned Thieves. As long as you meet certain conditions, these nodes grant additional Glyph upgrade chances. Afterward, you can proceed to the middle route, where several nodes also offer bonus upgrade attempts.
Diablo Season 14 War Plans nodes offer a rich variety of combinations. Feel free to adjust your selections flexibly based on your character's build, your immediate goals, and your overall combat strength.

Diablo 4 Season 14 Obducite Farming Guide: 20k+ Per Hour with Infinite Loop
In seasons prior to Diablo 4, Obducite was a crucial material for Masterwork gear. In the new Season 14, Obducite remains top-tier in importance. It has not been weakened by the change of season theme, but has been further consolidated by the core position of Masterworking in the endgame gameplay.
Players aiming for challenging pits or boss fights desperately want to stockpile Obducite to upgrade their gear and enhance their character's strength.
However, Season 14 has slightly adjusted the drop rates of several key acquisition methods, leaving many players accustomed to previous season farming strategies facing Obducite shortages. Therefore, we need to redesign the farming method for Obducite in Season 14.
Obducite Farming Strategy
First, to obtain Obducite, you can indeed complete the encounter in Horadric Strongroom, then unlock Grand Horadric Cache, and you'll see Obducite you've been longing for. Sounds simple, right? But the problem is that Horadric Strongroom, this secret room, isn't so easy to find.
We either have to rely on luck while farming Nightmare Dungeons to find a portal to a Horadric Strongroom, or we can only guarantee its spawn by using Nightmare Sigils with Horadric Strongroom affix.
Successfully completing a Horadric Strongroom will drop Escalation Sigils for Escalating Nightmares. Upgrading dungeons opened with these Sigils have a chance to encounter a Horadric Strongroom again.
You've noticed that Obducite farming can be a cycle. Our core strategy is to repeatedly and reliably enter this high-reward timed challenge using Nightmare Sigils with Horadric Strongroom affix, thus efficiently acquiring Obducite.

The entire Obducite farming cycle works like this: First, in Nightmare Dungeon, use Nightmare Sigils with Horadric Strongroom affix to clear Horadric Strongroom.
This process itself directly produces one to two thousand Obducites, but this is only one aspect of the dungeon's value. The more crucial benefit is Escalation Sigils, which have a high drop rate after clearing the dungeon.
The second step involves using the acquired Escalation Sigils to enter a special dungeon. Defeating the final boss not only provides a stable income of thousands of Obducites but also has a chance to drop Nightmare Sigils with Horadric Strongroom affix.
Therefore, players only need either type of Sigil to start this Obducite farming cycle without relying on external supplies. This is the most balanced mainstream farming method in Season 14 in terms of efficiency and sustainability.
Of course, if this cycle still doesn't meet your Obducite needs, you can buy Diablo 4 Obducite from IGGM.com to skip the tedious farming process!
The Importance of Team Play
First, if you can participate in Obducite farming in a four-person team, this is still a good way to improve efficiency.
The key is that each member of the team has an independent chance to drop Escalation Sigils after clearing Horadric Strongroom with the highest rating. This means that a successful Horadric Strongroom run can potentially generate multiple Escalation Sigils for the team, significantly expanding the pool of subsequent dungeons.
Similarly, after completing an upgraded dungeon and defeating the final boss, each member of the team also has an independent chance to obtain Nightmare Sigils with Horadric Strongroom affix.
Some players have tested this in a team run of Horadric Strongroom and accumulated a generous reward of up to 30,000 Obducite in about 70 minutes.
Emergency Strategies for Target Sigil Scarcity
It must be acknowledged that in Diablo 4, obtaining Nightmare Sigils with Horadric Strongroom affix involves a significant degree of randomness; not every player can successfully farm a sufficient number of target Sigils in a short period.
To address the Sigil shortage, the community has developed a very effective emergency solution: players can first craft a large number of regular Nightmare Sigils, then activate them one by one and enter the corresponding dungeons.
The key is to pay attention to whether a system notification about the appearance of a secret room pops up on the screen the moment you enter the dungeon. If it does, it means that Horadric Strongroom has appeared in your dungeon; if not, don't linger, exit the current dungeon and start the next Sigil.
While this method of mass-farming Sigils to explore is somewhat cumbersome, it provides another option if you are severely lacking in target affix Sigils, doesn't it?
Additional Explanation
Frankly, many players have reported that the overall difficulty of obtaining Obducite in Diablo 4 Season 14 is higher than in previous seasons, with some even feeling that the scarcity of Masterwork materials has severely hampered their gear upgrade progress.
This scarcity of Obducite may have amplified the reliance on efficient farming methods. This is precisely why the cycle around Horadric Strongroom and Escalation Sigils mentioned in this guide is particularly valuable.
Therefore, in the actual operation of farming Obducite in a loop, you might as well be patient and break the loop process into multiple short-term loops, rather than making yourself work continuously for a long time.
At the same time, players can make good use of the sorting and dismantling mechanism after batch crafting Nightmare Sigils to maintain a balance between basic material income and expenditure. This way, we can steadily advance our gear Masterworking progress in Season 14.
Don't be discouraged if you haven't farmed Obducite yet, as Diablo 4 Season 14 has only just begun. Try using the strategies in this guide to cycle through farming Obducite; you'll be satisfied!

Diablo 4 Season 14 Hidden Changes Are Already Reshaping Mythic Crafting and Endgame Farming
Nearly two days after the release of Diablo 4 Season 14, players have begun to discover changes not explicitly mentioned in the official update announcements during actual gameplay and endgame progression.
These adjustments may not be as immediately apparent as class balance changes, but they directly impact early-game farming priorities, Mythic gear planning, and material allocation in Season of Death Awakening.
Since most players will complete character building and core gear accumulation within the first two weeks of Season 14, the choice between World Bosses, Nightmare Dungeons, and Mythic crafting has become a crucial issue.
The following content is based on early player experiences and community feedback for Diablo 4 and may change with subsequent hotfixes or official announcements.

World Bosses
World Bosses in Season 14 appear to have more pronounced resilience scaling. Some Diablo 4 players have noticed that boss kill times are significantly longer than in Season 13, especially with Torment Tiers or fewer players.
This change significantly affects builds that rely on high-frequency triggers and sustained damage rotations. Prolonged battles will make resource cycling, damage reduction uptime, and trigger timing more prone to problems.
Hardcore players, in particular, are advised against soloing World Bosses on chief difficulties just to complete journey objectives.
A more practical approach is to participate during peak player hours or reduce the difficulty when completing Season of Death Awakening quests. World Bosses still offer rewards, but they may no longer be the most stable core farming option at the beginning of the season.
Mythic Gear
The most pressing change for Diablo 4 players remains the acquisition rate of Mythic gear. Based on current boss kill and dungeon farming feedback, the number of naturally dropped Mythic gear items seems to be less than in Season 13.
This doesn't mean Mythic gear can't drop, but that relying solely on random drop rates to acquire multiple pieces of endgame gear is becoming less efficient. Season Journey rewards, Mythic caches, and targeted crafting may be more worthwhile priorities than repeatedly farming bosses.
Popular Mythic gear still holds value in builds, but not all characters need to wait for Mythic gear to reach their full potential. Many non-Mythic Unique items still offer key skill synergies, resource cycling, or defensive effects, making them more suitable as stable transitional or even long-term gear in the current meta.
Mythic Seals
In contrast to the scarcity of Mythic gear pieces, the frequency of Mythic Seals appears to have increased. Some Diabo 4 players obtained relevant Seals shortly after the release of Season 14, and duplicate drops are more common than before.
This may be a compensation for the slower acquisition of Mythic gear. While players may not quickly assemble a complete Mythic set, Mythic Seals can provide additional synergies for skills, gear, or builds, still offering the potential for significant improvements.
Therefore, don't just focus on Mythic gear pieces when farming. Mythic Seals suitable for your current build are also worth keeping and testing.
Crafting Mythic Gear
In Diablo 4 Season of Death Awakening, Mythic gear obtained through crafting methods such as the Blacksmith, the Jeweler, or Horadric Cube appears to share the same Crafted tag restriction. Players can equip only one Mythic item crafted through the same source.
Since this tag is not prominently displayed in the item menu, players may find themselves unable to use multiple pieces of gear simultaneously after investing materials. Therefore, it's best to determine your endgame build before crafting and avoid crafting multiple Mythic items for short-term stat boosts.
In contrast, naturally dropped Mythic or Unique gear without Crafted tag is more valuable because it is not subject to this restriction and is easier to mix and match with crafted gear.
Charm Drop Attributes
Another notable change is that some dropped Charms may now come with GAs directly. Previously, Diablo 4 players typically needed to reforge using Hordric Cube to obtain Charms with legendary effects, but now there's a chance to obtain usable finished products directly while farming.
This reduces the reliance on crafting materials for Charm progression. In the early stages of Season 14, it's unnecessary to disenchant all Charms immediately; checking for attributes or legendary effects suitable for the current build can save considerable reforging resources.
Nightmare Dungeons
Compared to the uncertainty of Mythic gear drops, Nightmare Dungeons have significantly increased material value in Diablo 4 Season 14.
Dungeons with Material Reserve affix provide more Tuning Prisms, Refined Primordial Dust, and other crafting resources, which are core consumables for gear reforging, trinket crafting, and Hordric Cube operations.
Especially Refined Primordial Dust, which is consumed quickly when crafting rings, necklaces, or repeatedly adjusting affixes.
Instead of constantly gambling on Mythic drops, it's better to steadily accumulate materials through Nightmare Dungeons, preparing for later crafting and enhancement.
The acquisition efficiency of Gem Fragments has also improved. High-difficulty Helltide and Nightmare Dungeons with Gem Reserve affixes can help players accumulate the resources needed for high-tier gems faster.
Pit Bubble
Some Diablo 4 players have also noticed that Pit Bubble mechanic, which used to appear at certain stages in Pit challenges, no longer seems to occur consistently.
After losing the brief safe zone, players need to rely more on damage reduction, mobility, and survival skills to handle high-pressure phases.
This further increases the importance of survivability, especially when pushing high-level Pit challenges or playing Hardcore. Builds that only focus on damage output and ignore defensive rotations may be riskier than in Season 13.
Key Changes in Farming Focus
Based on the current hidden changes, Diablo 4 Season of Death Awakening seems to be reducing players' reliance on random Mythic gear drops while increasing the importance of material accumulation and crafting planning.
World Bosses are still worth participating in, but may not be suitable as the primary farming method.
For most players, prioritizing farming Nightmare Dungeons with material or gem reserve affixes to accumulate Refined Primordial Dust, Tuning Prisms, Gem Fragments, and usable Charms may be more stable than repeatedly chasing Mythic drops.

Please note that the above content is mainly based on player observations and actual gameplay experience in the early stages of Season 14's release. Some system issues may still be adjusted in subsequent hotfixes, patch notes, or official responses.
However, at this stage, reducing reliance on random Mythic gear drops and investing more time in Nightmare Dungeons, Material Reserve, Gem Fragments, and crafting strategies might be a more prudent growth strategy for Season 14.

Diablo 4 Season 14 Mythic Tribute of Armaments Guide: How to Maximize Your Runs in Kurast Undercity?
Players, Mystic items have always held a prominent place in Diablo 4 endgame lore, remaining the ultimate goal in every season. The combination of Kurast Undercity and Mythic Tribute of Armaments was once considered the most efficient way to acquire these top-tier items. However, with the arrival of Diablo 4 Season 14, this strategy has undergone a dramatic change.
The mechanism that guaranteed drops using Mythic Tribute of Armaments, which players previously relied on, has been completely revamped in Season 14. But after extensive testing and practical application, we've found ways to efficiently run a Mythic Tribute of Armaments in the new season.
The Role of Mythic Tribute of Armaments
The rarest and most valuable type of tribute in Kurast Undercity is Mythic Tribute of Armaments. Offering it to Soul Brazier at the entrance to Kurast Undercity significantly increases the drop rate of Mythic items in the final reward chest.
However, it's important to note that in Diablo 4 Season 14, the drop of Mythic Tributes of Armaments is no longer guaranteed. The patch notes state that the previous mechanism guaranteeing Mythic items from Mythic Tributes of Armaments on higher Torment difficulties was identified as a bug and has been fixed.
Now, there's only a chance to drop Mythic items, meaning the outcome of the above actions still largely depends on luck.

How to Obtain Mythic Tributes of Armaments?
Horadric Cube Crafting
While the drop rate for good gear has changed, Horadric Cubes remain the most reliable way to obtain Mythic Tributes of Armaments. This remains unchanged.
First, we need to use Amalgamation recipe from Horadric Cube. This means placing five Legendary Greater Tributes of Armaments into Horadric Cube to synthesize one Mythic Tribute of Armaments.
Furthermore, you can start with blue tributes and gradually synthesize upwards. 5 blue tributes yield one rare tribute, 5 rare tributes yield one Legendary tribute, and finally, 5 Legendary tributes upgrade to one Mythic Tribute of Armaments.
Other Acquisition Methods
Besides Horadric Cube synthesis method, there are two other ways to obtain Mythic Tributes of Armaments, but the probability is extremely low.
Obtaining Mythic Tributes of Armaments from World Bosses is one method, but the probability is extremely low. The other way is that opening Tree of Whispers reward cache also has a very small chance of yielding it.
Because the probability is so low, players are unlikely to rely heavily on these two methods. Alternatively, you can directly buy Diablo 4 Mythic Tribute of Armaments from IGGM.com, and get a 20% discount on ten!
Preparations Before the Run
Torment Difficulty Selection
Regarding which Torment difficulty is best for running a Mythic Tribute of Armaments, the community has offered various opinions.
Many players recommend using Mythic Tribute of Armaments at Torment 10 or higher, while others believe that Torment 8 or 9 is sufficient to reliably obtain Mythic items.
Based on numerous player suggestions and practical experience, it's best to practice at your target Torment difficulty with maximum attunement before officially using Mythic Tribute of Armaments, ensuring you can consistently complete Kurast Undercity at that difficulty.
War Plans Nodes
Don't forget, to maximize your returns, unlocking important nodes in War Plans is also important for running a Mythic Tribute of Armaments.
The most crucial node to unlock in Kurast Undercity War Plans tree is Gutter Filth. Activating it grants a chance to summon a special enemy - Portal Prankster - when lighting beacons in Kurast Undercity.
Portal Prankster is key to increasing the value of your final reward chest and creating more opportunities to acquire Mythic items.
Therefore, light up as many beacons as possible, as each beacon represents a chance to summon Portal Prankster.
Team Rotation
The final preparation you can do is find trustworthy teammates to team up for Kurast Undercity.
Form a four-person team with high trust levels. Each person should bring a Mythic Tribute of Armaments, and then take turns being the leader when starting Kurast Undercity. This way, everyone in your team can enjoy multiple high-yield Mythic Tribute of Armaments runs, significantly increasing efficiency compared to playing alone.
Practical Tips
Beware of Node Traps
Some Kurast Undercity nodes offer extra chests that seem valuable, but they may require additional tribute to open. Therefore, carefully read the descriptions when unlocking nodes to avoid accidentally consuming your precious Mythic Tributes of Armaments.
Light Up All Beacons
Lighting up all beacons and then defeating Portal Prankster is a crucial strategy for using Mythic Tributes of Armaments in Diablo 4 Season 14.
Remember, each beacon can potentially affect the value of your final reward.
Community Reactions
Since Season 14 adjusted the mechanics of Mythic Tribute of Armaments, players have been largely disappointed. Some have even joked that it should be renamed in the new season, perhaps Maybe Mythic Tribute would be more appropriate.
Some believe the development team did this to force players to farm the new seasonal Lair boss, Corrupted Reaper, to obtain Mythic items.
Nevertheless, you can still consider Mythic Tribute of Armaments runs as one of the main ways to get your ideal gear in Season 14, although it's not as reliable as it used to be.
In short, players should view Mythic Tribute of Armaments runs as an investment with high potential returns. Following the strategies in this guide, obtaining your ideal gear in Diablo 4 Season 14 shouldn't be difficult!

Diablo 4 Season 14 Superior Lair Keys Farming Strategies: The New Deathtoll Chamber has become the best source!
Even if you have thoroughly read the latest patch notes for Diablo 4 Season 14, you might discover subtle changes not explicitly listed once you actually dive into the season, such as the introduction of Superior Lair Key.
This is likely because it isn't an entirely new mechanic or item, but rather a variant of Betrayer's Husk familiar from previous seasons. Betrayer's Husks were originally lair keys exclusive to Belial, who was previously the only Exalted Lair Boss in Diablo 4.
However, Corrupted Reaper, a new seasonal lair boss introduced in Season 14, also utilized Betrayer's Husks during 3.1 PTR.
While this indicated Corrupted Reaper had joined Exalted tier, the name Betrayer's Husk (and its icon) was too strongly associated with Belial. A change was needed for Season 14, leading to the creation of Superior Lair Key.
So, what exactly can you do with Superior Lair Key in Diablo 4 Season 14, and how do you farm it? We'll explain everything below.

The function of Superior Lair Key
Regardless of the tier or type, the ultimate purpose of lair keys in Diablo 4 is to unlock the hoard that appears after defeating the corresponding boss, allowing you to claim the final loot.
In addition to Superior tier, the game features Standard and Greater lair keys, as well as Crux of the False Prophet, which is exclusive to the most dangerous special boss, Mephisto.
Superior Lair Key is compatible with two lair bosses: Belial and the new seasonal boss, Corrupted Reaper. Once you feel confident in your ability to handle them, you can start farming these keys and travel to the bosses' locations to challenge them.
As you progress further into Season 14, you may want to face Belial or Corrupted Reaper multiple times in a single session to farm more Mythics or other loot, which means consuming more keys.
If you don't want to consume extra time and energy farming them yourself, you can buy Diablo 4 Superior Lair Keys on IGGM! This allows you to focus entirely on the boss battles themselves.
How to farm Superior Lair Keys?
When the item was known as Betrayer's Husk, its drop source was extremely limited: defeating the lesser version of Belial. That specific boss would only spawn randomly, and with a low probability, after you had defeated Initiate or Greater Lair Bosses.
However, since Betrayer's Husk has been changed to Superior Lair Key, this method likely won't work in Season 14. So for now, we only recommend Deathtoll Chamber.
Additionally, you can join IGGM Diablo 4 Facebook Group right now; we'll be hosting giveaways irregularly featuring items like gear and various Lair Keys, join in for a chance to win them for free!
Farming in Deathtoll Chamber
This new instanced dungeon is the primary source of Superior Lair Keys during Season 14. There are two ways to access it:
- Defeating Realmwalker 2.0
- Randomly triggering it within Nightmare Dungeons converted via Sigils with Pandemonium Ruptures affix.
Pandemonium Ruptures is a Season 14-exclusive mechanic; clearing them within the relevant Nightmare Dungeons opens a portal to Deathtoll Chamber.
Ruptures themselves come in three varieties: Standard, Surging, and Colossal. Clearing the latter two triggers the appearance of a Realmwalker; defeating this enemy offers a chance to enter Deathtoll Chamber.
Inside Deathtoll Chamber, you will find a special Rupture that requires interaction with a central pillar to activate. You then have one minute to slay waves of continuously spawning monsters to achieve victory and unlock the loot.
Two specific enemy types within these ruptures require your attention: Gravehounds and The Exarch. Killing Gravehounds spawns special orbs; if these orbs reach The Exarch and are absorbed, the enemy receives a significant power boost.
Therefore, you should prioritize targeting The Exarch while avoiding killing Gravehounds prematurely, or otherwise destroying or intercepting the orbs.
In addition to Superior Lair Key, you have a chance to obtain Mythic items. Clearing Pandemonium Ruptures also yields Pandemonium Fragments, a special currency used to craft new Mythic items.
Will Superior Lair Key be replaced in the future?
Since Superior Lair Key is converted from Betrayer's Husk and Corrupted Reaper is a seasonal boss, you might wonder if the key will be replaced by a new item in the next season or revert to Betrayer's Husk.
While Season 15 might not necessarily introduce a new seasonal lair boss, if Corrupted Reaper remains or a new boss is added in a future season, wouldn't it be more of a hassle for *Diablo 4* to keep changing the associated lair keys?
Furthermore, given the unique nature of Crux of the False Prophet, Standard, Greater, and Superior tier system aligns well with the current state of Diablo 4. Therefore, it is unlikely that Superior Lair Key will be removed or replaced even after Season 14 ends.
That covers everything you need to know about obtaining Superior Lair Key in Diablo 4 Season 14. It is an essential item for acquiring more resources, so get out there and start farming for it!

Diablo 4 Season 14 Iconic Mythic Tier Shifts from D to S | The Grandfather is now the undisputed king
The core of Diablo 4 Season 14 lies in a complete overhaul of Mythic Unique items, and the original Mythic items - Iconic Mythic items such as Heir of Perdition - did not escape the developers' adjustments either; all of them have been reworked.
Most Iconic Mythic items have seen their power levels shift, and several formerly acknowledged powerhouse mythic items have received substantial reductions, possibly in an effort to encourage players to adopt the newer Mythic items more often. That does not mean, however, that every Iconic Mythic item has lost its value. Let us take a look at what has changed and which ones remain useful.

Tier D
Ahavarion, Spear of Lycander
This spear's fixed affixes are weapon damage and Lucky Hit: resource recovery. It did not receive much in the way of changes, but it has always underperformed, and even in Diablo IV Season 14 there is little improvement to speak of.
Nesekem, the Herald
The two fixed affixes on Nesekem, the Herald are weapon damage and damage to injured enemies, and its special effect that applies Vulnerability to foes might find some use in certain Spiritborn builds. Nevertheless, its greatest practical application remains being salvaged for Resplendent Sparks.
Tier C
Heir of Perdition
Heir of Perdition is the most controversial and most heavily weakened mythic item in this round of adjustments. This helmet was once a best-in-slot choice for many classes, but it has now largely stepped out of the meta.
Its damage multiplier has been cut from 80% to 15%, and the critical strike chance affix has been removed from the item entirely, leaving only core primary stats and Movement Speed.
The helmet's special effect now steals critical strike chance from enemies instead of granting a direct critical bonus. Although the damage bonus no longer randomly disappears as it used to, losing the critical strike affix is a huge blow, because critical strike chance carries enormous importance in Season 14.
Shroud of False Death
The formerly coveted +1 to all passive skills on Shroud of False Death has been removed, and now it offers only All Stats. The original cheat-death effect, which could trigger once every 300 seconds, has been changed so that after it procs, it remains permanently inactive until you return to town to reset it.
Shroud of False Death was never exceptionally strong on its own, and after these changes it feels even more lackluster. Even in Hardcore mode, there are better alternatives that provide higher damage reduction. After all, applying mythic powers to other gear slots grants a 30% bonus to attributes, which offers greater overall efficiency.
Shattered Vow
Shattered Vow received a minor increase to the duration of damage-over-time effects, while its special mechanic saw no significant alteration. It may have a faint niche in certain specific Damage Over Time (DOT) builds, but little more.
Doombringer
The fixed affixes on Doombringer are percentage maximum life and weapon damage, and its unique effect has been changed in every respect.
A previous bug that prevented shadow damage reduction from applying correctly has now been fixed. However, the weapon itself leans toward defense and has never dominated the meta. Hardcore players might gain some benefit from it, but for the majority of builds it is irrelevant.
Andariel's Visage
The fixed affixes on Andariel's Visage are core primary stats and poison resistance, which are fairly average. Some poison-oriented builds can make use of it, but the helmet slot is crowded with many strong alternatives, so it lacks competitiveness in Season 14.
Tier B
Tyrael's Might
Although Tyrael's Might offers percent resistances and 20% Damage Reduction, which provide certain benefits for intelligence-based classes, its damage mitigation has been completely outclassed by many of the new Diablo 4 Mythic unique items. It remains usable, but it is far from irreplaceable.
Melted Heart of Selig
This item still finds a place in some Barbarian builds, especially those revolving around resource expenditure and damage scaling. It was even used in the top leaderboard build during PTR 3.1.
Its applicability to other classes is more limited; Necromancers or certain Sorcerer variants might experiment with it, but the highest returns are still seen with Barbarians.
Tier A
Harlequin Crest
Harlequin Crest has gained a brand-new affix of +6 to all skills in the current season, but it has lost its damage reduction property, shifting it toward a more offensive orientation.
It still provides Armor and Cooldown Reduction, though it cannot roll exceptionally high values like certain other items. As a result, it remains a fine piece of equipment, but it is no longer an absolute necessity for every build.
Ring of Starless Skies
Ring of Starless Skies was once highly favored for its generous critical strike chance, but that affix has been removed this season.
Although it still offers Attack Speed, the numbers are no longer as extravagant as before. Nevertheless, its core mechanic - increased damage based on resource expenditure - remains potent. For many builds it is still an excellent endgame ring, but its overall uplift is more moderate than previously.
Tier S
El'Druin, Sword of Justice
If your playstyle involves frequent skill casting and relies heavily on Cooldown Reduction, then El'Druin, Sword of Justice is an outstanding choice. In speed-farming content, the efficiency it provides is unmatched.
Although it cannot grant full skill rank bonuses across the board, the smoothness it brings to gameplay elevates it to one of the top items.
The Grandfather
The Grandfather stands without question as the strongest Iconic Mythic item in Season of Death Awakening.
In Season 14, many sources of critical strike chance have been weakened, yet The Grandfather now directly provides a critical strike chance affix. Through Masterworking and Tempering, a single Grandfather can yield over 40% critical strike chance, directly solving the critical hit deficit that many builds face.
In the past, The Grandfather was often viewed as exclusive to Barbarians. Now, however, because it addresses the critical strike challenge encountered by nearly every class, it can be integrated broadly into a wide variety of different builds.
That concludes the ranking of all Iconic Mythic items in Diablo IV Season 14. Since every unique item in the current season has the potential to become mythic, the developers clearly intend to push players toward exploring new build directions by weakening mainstream equipment. When you obtain these items, do not equip them mindlessly; it is always better to first examine their affix effects to see whether they can actually bring an upgrade to your build.
