Will it launch in June?

In our previous coverage of Patch 6.2.3, we noted that Helldivers 2 development team tends to take their summer break starting in mid-July.

Although a skeleton crew remains on duty, they are generally occupied with routine maintenance; a major crossover event like Warhammer 40k Warbond requires significantly more time and attention.

Consequently, a launch in the latter half of the month seems unlikely, yet releasing a teaser in late May would seem premature if the actual launch were much later.

How to unlock Warhammer 40k Legendary Warbond?

In addition to Warhammer 40k, Helldivers 2 previously launched collaborative Legendary Warbonds featuring Killzone and Halo 3: ODST in August and December 2025, respectively.

What might this Legendary Warbond include?

More specifically, the visual style of these items will probably maximize the distinctive characteristics of Warhammer 40,000 while ensuring they don't clash too much with the established aesthetic of Helldivers 2.

The characters you and other players control in Helldivers 2 are essentially frontline special operations commandos. With this in mind, we speculate that the armor designs might draw inspiration from two different Warhammer 40k Astra Militarum units.

The first, and most likely, candidate is Tempestus Scions. Simply put, these are orbital drop shock troops; typically equipped with jump packs and top-tier weaponry, they are tasked with eliminating high-value targets.

Another possibility is an armor set modeled after Kasrkin elite troops, who serve within Cadian Shock Troopers.

It is worth noting that late last year, a dedicated fan, driven by a love for both games, designed their own Warhammer 40k Warbond. That lucky player certainly had great foresight!

More potential Helldivers 2 updates

Regardless of when Warhammer 40k Legendary Warbond launches, it alone clearly won't be enough to salvage the game's currently poor community reception.
