Helldivers 2 New Missions Activated: Void Zone Investigations & High-Value Data Recovery Now Available

Helldivers 2 New Missions Activated: Void Zone Investigations & High-Value Data Recovery Now Available

The major update to Devoid of Liberty received further content updates on August 18th, adding Void areas, new enemies, and random missions to Helldivers 2. We'll explain the changes you'll experience in the game after this update to help you better handle Illuminate threat on the front lines.

Campaign Rewards

Following the release of Devoid of Liberty, the subsequent campaign missions quickly followed. In Operation Void Piercer, Super Earth leadership added extra rewards to motivate frontline troops.

Successfully completing Galactic War Campaign will reward all Helldivers with the new IX-Voidwalker helmet.

This helmet looks incredibly cool, and its color scheme perfectly matches the purple cape given after defeating Illuminate, providing another stylish option for your Helldivers 2 character build.

While IX-Voidwalker doesn't currently offer a unique passive skill, given the game's update schedule, a complete set of armor is likely to be released later, at which point its passive effect will probably become a major focus for players.

This reward is a result of Major Orders system introduced in the August 18th update, allowing players to earn rewards through collective effort while completing main quests.

If you want to unlock more cosmetics or future Warbonds, accumulating some currency beforehand is a good idea. You can accumulate it through in-game missions, but choosing to buy Helldivers 2 Super Credits from IGGM.com will save you considerable time.

Furthermore, IGGM Coupons will make your Super Credits orders cheaper; simply register, earn points through daily check-ins, and then redeem them.

Helldivers 2 New Missions Activated: Void Zone Investigations & High-Value Data Recovery Now Available

Missions and Objectives

Before Devoid of Liberty update, while Illuminate's mission list already included tasks like investigating and recovering high-value data, these were not normally available.

With the release of Devoid of Liberty, these missions were officially activated and can now be found in the action list in Devoid area.

In actual gameplay of Helldivers 2, while these missions follow a similar logic to previous ones, their appearance fills gaps in Illuminate mission line and makes the entire campaign more complete.

Meanwhile, the development team quietly reduced the number of objectives in some missions.

For example, Seize Industrial Complex and Destroy Command Bunkers missions for Automatons, which previously required completing four objective points, were reduced to three after Devoid of Liberty update.

Confiscate Assets mission for Illuminate side also saw its objectives reduced from four to two.

Furthermore, the number of objectives in missions such as Annex Untapped Mineral Sites was also reduced.

These adjustments are actually reasonable for players, as they effectively shorten the duration of a match, reducing the fatigue of repeated running around and making combat more efficient and compact.

New Uses for Sentry

In several maps of Void, players have discovered some noteworthy details.

For example, in Gazer mission, there's a platform players can stand on. Various sentry weapons, including Gatling guns, mortars, Grenade Launchers, and even Gas Mortar Sentry, can be placed directly on top of this platform, and it will slowly move with Gazer.

While this isn't a core gameplay element designed by the developers, it can indeed be used as a flexible firing point in Helldivers 2's defensive missions, which is quite interesting.

Additionally, the recording operation for Conduct Geological Survey mission has changed slightly after the update. Pressing the button doesn't start recording immediately; there's a delay of about half a second.

However, this delay doesn't significantly affect the overall flow and is likely just to accommodate the new mission's timing logic.

Furthermore, on Super Helldive difficulty, Sabotage Supply Bases mission can now potentially spawn outside of Megafactories and Mega Cities, meaning the target distribution on higher difficulties is much richer than before the update.

Narrative Updates

In addition, the August 18th update for Helldivers 2, Devoid of Liberty, includes not only gameplay changes but also a series of narrative connections both inside and outside the game.

SEAF medics who inject you with healing agents on the battlefield now have an official nickname - Stimmothy. This name, originally a joke in the player community, has now been officially adopted. Frontline soldiers should find it somewhat endearing.

Meanwhile, the development team has also released background reports on Void worlds through in-game publications such as Scientific Citizen, including fictional news about Void's impact on the food chain, anatomical analysis of Crusher, and ten terrifying discoveries of Void, further intensifying the atmosphere of terror for Illuminate faction.

Narrative Updates in Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty

Current Battle Situation and DSS Anomalies

Currently, on Galactic Map, we can see that Illuminate is attempting to expand Void's reach, launching attacks on two planets.

Furthermore, after completing its Void traversal, Democracy Space Station has been reported to be experiencing rhythmic knocking sounds.

Although Super Earth executives explained that the sound was merely from localized thermal contraction, it grew increasingly louder, and all shuttles traveling to and from the game were suspended.

While the game is Helldivers 2, the atmosphere evokes the terrifying feeling of Dead Space.

Perhaps we can't rule out a future limited-time event centered on the space station - if we could actually log into DSS to fight unknown enemies, it would be a significant breakthrough for the existing mission types in Helldivers 2!

Overall, with the addition of new content to Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty, we have much more room to explore in terms of campaigns, missions, and narrative. Good luck in thwarting Illuminate's conspiracy!

Helldivers 2 Patch 7.0.0 Devoid of Liberty Introduces The Void Biome, Brand-New Mutated Enemies, and More

Helldivers 2 Patch 7.0.0 Devoid of Liberty Introduces The Void Biome, Brand-New Mutated Enemies, and More

August 12th marks a pivotal date for Helldivers 2 players in the latter half of the year. Not only has the long-awaited Warhammer 40K Legendary Warbond finally arrived, but Patch 7.0.0, which includes Devoid of Liberty update, has officially gone live!

This means you can not only acquire more weapons through the new Warbond but also test this gear in a brand-new combat environment while eliminating new enemy types to secure more loot.

So, what exactly does Devoid of Liberty update bring to Helldivers 2? Let's take a look.

Helldivers 2 Patch 7.0.0 Devoid of Liberty Introduces The Void Biome, Brand-New Mutated Enemies, and More

A brand-new biome

In Helldivers 2, biomes determine the map generation for the planets you visit, encompassing details such as terrain, alien flora, and other geographical features.

Currently, Helldivers 2 biomes generally fall into two categories: those featuring geography familiar to Earth, such as swamps or deserts, and those based on unique cosmic phenomena or entirely fictional planets, like black holes or Hive Worlds.

The new biome introduced in Devoid of Liberty update stems from The Void, a cosmic anomaly discovered by Illuminate. It possesses the power to consume surrounding planets and even entire star systems.

While The Void is a naturally occurring phenomenon, Illuminate, a hostile faction opposing Super Earth, have harnessed it to create a sub-faction known as Vote Snatchers.

Consequently, part of the new mission objectives requires you to deploy to planets affected by The Void and eliminate the mutated enemies created by Illuminate within this unique biome.

What sets this biome apart from others is that, beyond the dangers posed by the terrain and enemies, you must remain constantly vigilant against potential space-time anomalies and fluctuations; a moment of carelessness could cost you your life.

Two new enemy types

Stemming from Vote Snatchers, Devoid of Liberty update introduces the first two enemy variants: The Wretch and The Crusher.

The Wretch is an incredibly agile and swift monster equipped with scissor-like limbs; it appears to be a mutation of Illuminate's Voteless units.

Helldivers 2 The Wretch

While their individual strength isn't exceptional, they almost always appear in groups of five or six; therefore, teaming up with other players is the best strategy, otherwise, retreating as quickly as possible is the wisest course of action.

In fact, even when in a squad, you and your teammates should avoid combat whenever possible. You might be capable of eliminating them, but getting bogged down in a fight could prove counterproductive when tackling time-sensitive missions.

If The Wretch in Helldivers 2 is already a nuisance, then, unfortunately, The Crusher is even more troublesome! They are larger and possess an incredibly annoying self-regeneration ability.

Helldivers 2 The Crusher

The only saving grace is that The Crusher moves very slowly; however, if they do catch up to you, they will swing their heavy clubs with devastating force. Unless you are extremely lucky, a single hit is almost certainly fatal.

If you are forced to engage a Crusher, be sure to maintain a safe distance and unleash maximum firepower until they are completely destroyed. In short: if you decide to fight, you must go all out.

New missions centered on Illuminate

Whether it involves traveling to The Void or facing newly emerged enemies, Illuminate faction is ultimately behind it all. Consequently, the primary objective in this Helldivers 2 update is to infiltrate Illuminate territory and destroy their various facilities and portals.

Naturally, this takes place within a new biome, and you will frequently encounter the two new enemy types. However, you can also scavenge for loot and locate additional extraction points to facilitate future battles.

Assistance from SEAF

To help you better handle these new enemies and challenges, Helldivers 2 Devoid of Liberty update allows SEAF forces to fight alongside you as a planetary modifier and boosts your combat capabilities with new gear.

Beyond combat support, the game allows you to share hugs with members of the support units. If you are injured, SEAF personnel will also treat your wounds using a wide array of medical supplies.

More content in Patch 7.0.0

The above details the new content introduced by Devoid of Liberty update; however, this update is just one part of Helldivers 2 Patch 7.0.0, which brings a host of other changes to the game as well.

Many of these changes had been previously announced but are finally being implemented now. Examples include raising the character level cap from 150 to 300 and the launch of Warhammer 40K Castellan's Creed Legendary Warbond.

As it stands, while not every piece of gear is exceptional, this Warbond offers high overall utility. This is largely due to 40-K Meltagun, G/40-K Meltamine, and P/40-K Bolt Pistol; these items are capable of one-shot kills or deliver outstanding performance across the board.

Beyond new content, Patch 7.0.0 introduces various balance adjustments, including bug fixes, buffs for numerous items, and icon optimizations, all designed to improve your gear selection and operational efficiency.

For instance, GATER has been fitted with the new Super V48 Interceptor engine, boosting both its speed and handling, while R-2124 Constitution now supports stripper clips.

Additionally, the assisted reload mechanic has been completely overhauled. You can now simply step up to assist a teammate carrying a backpack-fed weapon, eliminating the need for the excessive coordination previously required.

This means that whether you are squared up with friends or random strangers, you can easily perform assisted reloads without complex communication.

As for icon optimization: previously, similar weapon appearances made it difficult to quickly locate specific items in the loadout menu.

Patch 7.0.0 enhances icon distinctiveness, helping you make quick decisions, whether you're pressed for time or simply have a preference for specific gear.

If this update has reignited your interest in Helldivers 2 and you're ready to return to Super Earth to conquer Illuminate, then jump right in, your squad mates are waiting for you!
