Path Of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0 All The Core New Content You Should Know - Act 4, Sprint Ability And More
Unbelievably, there are less than five days left until the release of Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0: The Third Edict! In the August 20th livestream and the subsequent patch notes, the development team unveiled a wealth of new content!
Of course, much of this content is based on updates and optimizations to existing mechanics, which you can fully experience through gameplay after the patch and Rise of the Abyssal League launch.
However, for some of the new features, we recommend familiarizing yourself with them before 0.3.0's official release so you can quickly adapt to the new league and avoid wasting extra time learning the mechanics.
Below, we'll highlight a few of these new features so you can dominate 0.3.0 after August 29th!
Act 4 & The Interludes
In terms of the game's story, Path of Exile 2 0.3.0 follows Acts 1-3 with the introduction of Act 4. By introducing Polynesian-style Ngamakunui Archipelago, you can explore further story lines and gain more opportunities to farm POE 2 currency through new locations and bosses.
The archipelago consists of eight islands, but you can visit them in any order, adventuring while searching for ways to stop the corruption threatening Wraeclast and completing the main questline of Act 4.
Notably, in addition to Act 4, the game also introduces a new mechanic called The Interludes. Previously, if you wanted to access Path of Exile 2 endgame, you had to complete the first three acts and then play through them again on Cruel difficulty.
But now, The Interludes replaces this old system with new, less repetitive side quests, allowing you to earn additional loot and XP while experiencing Path of Exile 2 like never before.
The Interludes are expected to feature three temporary acts, including 19 new areas and nine new bosses, each representing a different storyline:
- Interlude I: Return to Ogham as in Act I and assist Renly.
- Interlude II: Travel to Vastiri Desert to find Asala.
- Interlude III: Join Doryani in their search for the missing Vaal descendants.
However, both The Interludes itself and some of the related bosses added to the endgame will be removed after Act 5 officially launches to prevent irregularities in the game's act mechanics.
Available Sprint Ability
In combat, besides attacking skills that deal damage and defensive skills that can block critical enemy attacks, timely and reliable dodges are also crucial. For this reason, Patch 0.3.0 adds a sprint ability to all characters.
This ability allows you to enter a sprint state by continuing to hold the dodge button after completing a dodge roll, significantly increasing your movement speed. But using other skills while sprinting will automatically cause you to exit the sprint state.
Note that taking damage while in this state will temporarily stun you, making you more vulnerable to enemy attacks. Therefore, if you want to escape enemy pursuit by sprinting, you must carefully time and sprint in the right direction.
Because this ability requires some skill, it's not recommended for new players of POE 2 to use it in the early game frequently. Not only could it lead to unnecessary damage, but frequent dodging could prevent you from farming necessary resources.
Of course, if you're truly in mortal danger, sprinting can still keep you safe by allowing you to retreat as needed. In short, overuse is never a good idea.
Rise Of The Abyssal League
Rise of the Abyssal, the new league that launched with patch 0.3.0 The Third Edict is a more formalized version of POE 2's first full league and a sequel to the league in the original game.
During Rise of the Abyssal, you'll occasionally encounter strange rifts that spawn a steady stream of monsters. You must eliminate these enemies quickly to resolve crises and obtain loot.
Providing More Ways To Enhance Your Character
If you want to enhance your character in Path of Exile 2, there are numerous ways. In other words, besides leveling up, the primary factor that determines your combat effectiveness is your build, and build crafting is closely related to a variety of items and mechanics.
Based on unresolved issues in Dawn of the Hunt and the pointless skill nerfs that left you dissatisfied, 0.3.0 primarily changes class skills and support gem mechanics.
Regarding skill gems, POE 2 is expected to balance the power differences between major skills, ensuring you have more powerful options while minimizing the homogenization of build crafting.
As for support gems, previously you could only insert one support gem per skill, but now you can place them in any number of skills, further expanding the diversity and options of crafting builds.
In addition, patch 0.3.0 introduces a new type of support gem, Lineage Supports, consisting of approximately 40 gems in total. These are extremely rare and can only be obtained by farming specific bosses.
Overall, The Third Edict builds on the strengths of the previous patch, not only adding new content to enhance the game's richness but also resolving some long-standing player complaints.
We hope the information we have provided here will be helpful in your experience with the new POE 2 patch! We wish you a pleasant journey through 0.3.0!

Path Of Exile 2 Patch 0.3.0 Teaser Image: What Can You Infer From It?
With the August 29th release of Patch 0.3.0 drawing near, Path of Exile 2 recently released a special teaser image, sparking speculation among players, despite not receiving a formal trailer.
At first glance, the image appears to consist primarily of incomprehensible symbols, with a portion circled and accompanied by a still-cryptic annotation.
While most players remain clueless, the prevailing theory is that this may foreshadow Act 4 and more, which will appear in Patch 0.3.0.
So, what exactly can be learned from this image, and does it indicate that Patch 0.3.0 will deliver satisfactory results? We'll explain.
What Does This Image Depict?
While the notes shown in the image mostly contain strange symbols, they're actually a special kind of text, and further clues to the puzzles may not be revealed until a more official update is released for Path of Exile 2.
But if you're a veteran of Path of Exile series, you might already have your own theories based on speculation from the community, the annotations in the image, and your own vague impression of these symbols from Path of Exile.
Speculations About The Teaser Image
First, it's important to understand that, as an early access release, only Acts 1-3 are currently available in Path of Exile 2. Therefore, among all the predictions about the content of Patch 0.3.0, Acts 4-6 is a popular possibility.
Based on this, as the first official Patch 0.3.0 preview, this image foreshadows at least some of the plot of Act 4. In fact, the mysterious symbols in the image look strikingly similar to Kalguur Runes.
Furthermore, portions of Path of Exile 2 art book suggest that Act 4 will probably take place in Karui Archipelago and Kalguuran town of Kingsmarch. These two factors combined lend credence to the speculation surrounding the release of new acts.
Another speculation regarding the new content in the image is that it involves a new class. Some players believe the first row of symbols in the image represents the word Druid, which is the most possible new class to be released in POE 2 patch 0.3.0.
Overall, both of these speculations are based on existing information about 0.3.0 and the meaning of the image's symbols, making them highly reliable. Of course, further details and accuracy will depend on future official announcements.
What Will This Mean If The Speculations Come True?
If patch 0.3.0 does indeed bring Acts 4-6 (or at least Act 4) and Druid, it would further enhance the playability of Path of Exile 2. You would be able to explore the new acts and learn more about the game's story.
In addition, you'll gain more opportunities and ways to earn POE 2 currency through quests offered by new acts, and new Druid skills. The currency can then be used to strengthen yourself and accelerate your access to the new endgame content introduced in patch 0.3.0.
What Are Players Looking Forward To In The New Patch?
Because POE 2 is still in early access compared to POE 1, it's inevitable that it has some shortcomings. These can only be addressed through continuous updates until it reaches the level of a "full-fledged" ARPG.
Based on feedback from POE 2 player community, you'll find several known issues that everyone is eager to see addressed or resolved. We'll discuss each one below.
Maintaining Balance
While most aspects of the game require balance, this requirement often applies to classes and skills. For example, when Dawn of the Hunt first launched, you might have felt that the new Huntress class was overpowered.
On the other hand, since skills in Path of Exile series are acquired through equipping gems, it's easy for individual gems to be exceptionally powerful.
Therefore, if these two issues remain unresolved, not only will the player experience for different classes and skills in POE 2 be unbalanced, but it will also lead to a tendency for most players to utilize the same combat setup, resulting in a homogenized experience.
More Useful And Interesting Endgame Content
As a hardcore ARPG, Path of Exile 2's core is undoubtedly its challenging endgame. However, since its early access launch, the endgame has consistently suffered from issues such as slow pacing, a lack of interesting content, and excessive & pointless restrictions.
Therefore, if POE 2 is to further improve the game with patch 0.3.0, it should focus on adding more useful and interesting gameplay to the endgame, rather than simply cramming a bunch of inexplicable features into the game and labeling it "new" and thinking everything is fine.
Adding The Auction House
Currently, available POE 2 trading methods include trading directly with other players or through the official trading platform. While both are excellent, the game truly needs an auction house!
In any MMORPG, the auction house isn't just a trading venue, it's also the perfect place for socializing and keeping up-to-date on the market conditions for various items.
Furthermore, it would be ideal to add an automated offline trading mechanism to the auction house - a major shortcoming of existing trading methods.
This mechanism could help players with urgent trading needs obtain their desired items immediately, and it could also help sellers who are offline clear their inventory. Why not? While both parties can communicate more details online, sometimes this isn't necessary.
While you may hope that Path of Exile 2 will continue to improve your experience, remember that it's still a work-in-progress. So, as long as its basic performance is satisfactory, you should give it enough time to mature.
That's our introduction to the new teaser image, along with our speculation on what Patch 0.3.0 might offer. Thank you for reading.
