As WoW The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary progresses steadily, players are increasingly finding the new expansion incredibly enjoyable. Furthermore, the game will be launching three brand-new raids on February 19th, including Karazhan, Magtheridon's Lair, and Gruul's Lair.
Among these, Karazhan has its own Attunement and includes a unique reputation system; while Magtheridon's Lair and Gruul's Lair do not have specific Attunements, only level requirements, making them more suitable for farming for TBC Classic Gold.
In the current mid-phase of Phase 1, Gold reserves are crucial. So, to help you start efficient farming immediately after it goes live, this guide will provide a detailed introduction to the two raids, Magtheridon's Lair and Gruul's Lair, as well as some important considerations.
Magtheridon's Lair Raid
First, let's take a look at Magtheridon's Lair, a 25-player raid in TBC Anniversary expansion that includes a boss which is very similar to the previous Onyxia's Lair. Although no attunement is required to enter the raid, your character must be level 65 or higher.
Once you meet the character level requirements, you can head to Hellfire Citadel, which is located in the central area of Hellfire Peninsula to find the raid entrance. Since the raid is no longer on the continent of Azeroth, you will need to learn flight to reach the designated location.
Horde players can learn by following Barley in Thrallmar; Alliance players can learn by following Krill Bitterhue in Honor Hold. Both of these Fight Masters require you to spend a portion of TBC Gold to unlock and upgrade your flight ability level.
Once you reach the raid entrance and open the gate, you can proceed along your own exploration route. However, regardless of your choice, the final boss Magtheridon will be waiting for you at the exit of Magtheridon's Lair Raid, imprisoned by Hellfire Channelers.
Once you enter the arena where you encounter this boss, you must first interrupt the ritual performed by Hellfire Channelers and rescue Magtheridon before engaging in a fierce battle. Note that these Channelers will summon a Burning Abyssal when they take damage; your party must deal with these minions simultaneously, or your health will be depleted rapidly.
With the addition of these Channers, the process of defeating Magtheridon is divided into three phases: Phase 1, the boss is imprisoned, and only Channers and Abyssals need to be dealt with; Phase 2, the boss is activated, and the real battle begins; Phase 3, the boss's health drops below 30%, the ceiling collapses, and the boss's damage output increases significantly.
Throughout the process, melee characters need to interrupt Channers' ritual as much as possible and prevent more Abyssals from being summoned. After the boss is activated, you can focus on attacking the boss, but be careful to avoid standing near the fire or any collapsed ceiling.
For ranged spellcasters, Warlock can cast Banish and Fear to control and damage Burning Abyssals; while Hunter and Mage can use slowing and rooting abilities to help kite them. After the boss awakens, please immediately proceed to the designated location to unleash more shockwaves.
The team's most important healers need to provide real-time healing to tanks damaged by Hellfire Channelers and the boss; or, in extreme cases, cast Power Word: Shield to protect some tanks and DPS. In the final stage, you can stun the boss at appropriate times so that other players can launch their final attack.
After you and your squad successfully defeat him, Magtheridon will drop some Tier 4 Tokens, which can be used to redeem item level 120 gear, Eye of Magtheridon, trinkets that can be used to enhance Caster DPS, and some item level 125 gear.
Among them, Hunter, Mage, and Warlock share Hero Tier 4 tokens; Paladin, Rogue, and Shaman share Champion Tier 4 tokens; and Warrior, Priest, and Druid share Defender Tier 4 tokens, which can freely exchange for any Chest parts of Tier 4 Set.
Gruul's Lair Raid
Like Magtheridon's Lair Raid, Gruul's Lair Raid is also a 25-player raid instance, and still requires your character to be level 65 or higher, but it includes two bosses: High King Maulgar and Gruul the Dragonkiller.
It is located in the northern part of Blade's Edge Mountains and can be reached by learning flight from Phyn Leafshadow in Ruuan Weald, Evergrove. He is a neutral faction NPC who can be approached by both Horde and Alliance players to learn flight.
Once all conditions are met, and a powerful build is ready, you can enter. The exploration route in Gruul's Lair is linear; you will first encounter several waves of small enemies, then High King Maulgar and his council, and finally Gruul the Dragonkiller.
Although Gruul is the final boss of the entire raid, he is a single target, making the encounter slightly easier than Maulgar and his council. In the first encounter, you and your team need to work together to kill four bosses, excluding Maulgar: Kiggler the Crazed, Blindeye the Seer, Olm the Summoner, and Krosh Firehand.
Throughout the encounter, melee characters, ranged spellcasters, and healers all need to be extremely careful and use kiting tactics as much as possible to minimize the health loss of team members. Upon successfully defeating the enemy, you will receive Item Level 125 gear, some Tier 4 Tokens that can be used to redeem Item Level 120 Shoulder gear, and Hammer of the Naaru.
When encountering Gruul, simply try to avoid every heavy attack he unleashes, and slow down his movement and casting speed to increase the chances of a successful kill. Finally, it can drop Item Level 125 gear, Tier 4 Tokens that can be exchanged for Item Level 120 Shoulder gear, and Bloodmaw Magus-Blade, which is very useful for Caster DPS; and Dragonspine Trophy, which is very useful for melee DPS.
This concludes all the details regarding Magtheridon's Lair Raid and Gruul's Lair Raid in the current WoW Classic Anniversary event. Hopefully, this information has given you a better understanding of them, and you'll begin exploring them as soon as they launch on February 19th. Enjoy the game!
