WoW MoP Classic Vengeance Impacts On Tank Classes: How To Choose The Right Class?

Posted: Jul 29, 2025 Views: 42

While World of Warcraft series spans multiple different games and servers, some core mechanics are universal across them, such as the available classes and races, as well as their associated special abilities.

Thus, in WoW MoP Classic, you can still play as a tank class, drawing threat and absorbing damage from enemies for your teammates, while still gaining additional benefits from your passive ability, Vengeance.

However, after the rework, Vengeance’s role in the game has changed, impacting all five tank classes differently. We’ll explain this so you can make the best tank class choices.

WoW MoP Classic Vengeance Impacts On Tank Classes: How To Choose The Right Class?

What Is Vengeance?

Vengeance converts a proportional amount of damage taken into attack damage, boosting your damage output so you can win in the endgame against enemies dealing tens of thousands of damage points and still earn WoW MoP Classic gold.

When you select the tanking specialization for your character in Mists of Pandaria Classic, you gain Vengeance as a passive skill. Currently, the following classes can select this skill:

  • Blood Death Knights
  • Guardian Druids
  • Brewmaster Monks
  • Protection Paladins
  • Protection Warriors

If your base class is Druid or Warrior, you must be in Bear Form or Defensive Stance to avoid gaining the bonus Vengeance effect. It should be noted that when you are in Cat Form, Vengeance effect is negated.

Note that non-Guardian Druids can still utilize Vengeance in Bear Form by selecting Heart of the Wild talent.

Vengeance Effects In MoP Classic Now

After optimizations and changes, utilizing Vengeance in MoP Classic now grants the following combat effects:

  • Granting an attack power boost equal to 1.8% of unmitigated damage taken, lasting for 20 seconds.
  • The maximum attack power gain you can receive is determined by your maximum health.
  • Dodge, parry, or miss all grant Vengeance, similar to strike landing.
  • Suffering a critical hit reduces Vengeance gain from that attack by 50%.
  • You cannot gain Vengeance while standing in areas with persistent damage effects.
  • Taunting an enemy attacking a tank grants 50% Vengeance.

What Is Specialization?

In Mists of Pandaria Classic, specialization, often referred to as a spec, determines your subsequent abilities and advantages in the game, as well as your role on the team, based on your base class.

When your character reaches level 10, you can choose a specialization. Available roles include:

  • Tank
  • Healer
  • Ranged DPS
  • Melee DPS

Tank Role Class

In raids and dungeon crawls, the tank’s primary responsibility is to attract enemy attention, absorb damage, and prevent allies from being attacked. In tank-centric encounters, as the only character taking damage, they’re also the only ones who need healing.

Therefore, to win these encounters, healing should be concentrated on the tank. If the tank’s teammate doesn’t attract enough threats, the healing effect is dispersed, easily leading to a team wipe.

The Impact Of Vengeance On The Five Tank Classes

With the changes to Vengeance mechanic in WoW MoP Classic, the impact of Vengeance, the mechanic most closely associated with the tank class, has also changed across the tank classes.

1. Protection Warrior

For this class, combining the benefits of Shield Barrier and Vengeance not only allows for increased damage output but also provides an excellent defense against powerful bosses, as you gain rage faster than you lose absorption.

In terms of skills, a noteworthy Protection Warrior skill is Execute, which provides an attack power bonus that allows you to deal increased damage when a boss’s health drops below 20%, effectively finishing them off.

2. Blood Death Knight

Comparatively speaking, this class doesn’t receive much in the way of defensive bonuses from Vengeance optimizations, focusing more on increased damage. While the skill Death Sipho’s defense has increased, the embarrassing thing is that it is often used to attack.

3. Brewmaster Monk

This class is unique in that the benefits gained from Vengeance optimizations primarily come in the form of increased AoE damage. After the changes, its Raid Guard allows you to fight multiple enemies simultaneously without feeling overwhelmed.

In addition, the class’s personal guard and Gift of the Ox’s healing effects have been enhanced, increasing its overall defense in combat. Rushing Jade Wind also gives Brewmaster Monk considerable offensive power.

4. Protection Paladin

In MoP Classic, Protection Paladin’s Holy Shield and Guardian of Light abilities both received a spell power bonus. If you have enough Holy Energy, you can also use Eternal Flame and, after gaining enough Haste, utilize it to heal allies during a raid.

If you stack Vengeance high enough on top of this, you’ll heal all allies within a 10-yard radius for over 100,000 health every 2 seconds while in a raid, while also dealing significant damage to enemies hit.

5. Guardian Druid

Vengeance changes affect this class by increasing the following two abilities:

  • Healing Touch through Dream of Cenarius
  • Raid healing through Nature’s Vigil

You can also gain additional benefits through Frenzied Regeneration. However, with poor gear, Guardian Druid will only be able to use this ability more effectively in fights that aren’t primarily focused on magic damage.

That’s all for this guide. If you’re a MoP Classic tank class players, it will definitely be helpful to you! I wish you have fun!
