Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Insane Atziri's Temple Loot Exploit was just fixed before ruining the economy | Why are players still so keen on this mechanic?
Since the launch of Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0, the game has been well-received by players thanks to its rich mechanics and effective endgame changes; however, a steady stream of bugs has accompanied this release.
While most bugs simply disrupt the gameplay experience, some create specific exploits that allow players to game the system and earn more loot than intended. Although this might seem appealing, such exploits can severely destabilize the game's economy.
A bug of this nature recently appeared in Path of Exile 2, though fortunately, the developers quickly deployed a hotfix. Here is a breakdown of the situation.

What exactly was the bug?
Fate of the Vaal league, introduced during Patch 0.4.0, brought Atziri's Temple mechanic to the game. This feature was retained as part of the core game following the launch of Patch 0.5.0, allowing players to continue earning rewards through it.
The mechanic had frequently encountered issues during Patch 0.4.0, prompting ongoing fixes from the development team. In this latest instance, players discovered a specific exploit that enabled them to amass large amounts of currency in a short period.
At first glance, this might seem like a golden opportunity to stockpile the currency. However, anyone familiar with ARPGs knows that such bugs can eventually cause the game's economy to collapse, making even basic items difficult to obtain.
Fortunately, perhaps due to the recent spate of bugs, the development team quickly identified the issue and immediately implemented a fix. You can now experience Atziri's Temple normally (provided no other issues arise).
However, if you run into trouble while exploring the temple itself and need currency to upgrade your gear and characters, we highly recommend checking out IGGM safe and cheap PoE 2 currency for sale!
How does Atziri's Temple work?
Upon reaching Act 3, you will randomly encounter scattered Vaal Beacons within the corrupted areas of various zones. Enemies will spawn around these beacons; defeating them charges the beacon, allowing you to activate it.
Once you activate six beacons, a portal to Atziri's Temple (also known as Lira Vaal Temple) will appear nearby, granting you access to a temple run.
The temple features a grid-like layout similar to a chessboard; you can customize your own farming strategy by placing rooms and paths, though you must ensure a route exists to the chamber housing the ultimate boss, Queen Atziri.
As you progress through the temple, you will encounter various enemies. Beyond serving as map nodes, the rooms act as modifiers that provide special effects, such as buffing enemies or increasing loot yields.
These enemies also drop Atziri's Temple Medallions. Different types of medallions serve different purposes: some upgrade rooms, while others prevent rooms from becoming corrupted and rendered useless.
Each room can be upgraded up to twice by meeting specific connectivity requirements. However, to maintain game balance, the benefits begin to diminish if the layout contains more than four rooms of the same type.
Additionally, to unlock Atziri's Chamber, you must encounter and defeat Architect boss to obtain Royal Access Chamber and place it along your route.
Despite being plagued by bugs since its launch, Atziri's Temple has remained popular with players due to the combination of its complexity and high rewards. It has undergone further adjustments since being integrated into the core game mechanics.
Atziri's Temple in Patch 0.5.0
In addition to the standard mechanics mentioned above, Atziri's Temple now features a dedicated Atlas passive skill tree. This allows you to further enrich the gameplay and rewards by unlocking various combinations of nodes.
To earn the points needed to unlock these nodes, you can start from the designated point in City of Lira Vaal and locate Energised Crystals within the city; these grant you usable points.
Furthermore, Vaal Beacons, previously scattered randomly, can now be guaranteed to appear on the map by using the corresponding Temple Precursor Tablets. This feature is ideal if you prefer the temple content over Runes of Aldur mechanic.
To help you reach the final boss and clear the temple more quickly, the number of placeable rooms has been increased. Additionally, unlocking specific nodes on the passive tree allows rooms to be upgraded up to level 4.
These are the core gameplay changes; Patch 0.5.0 also includes various other detailed optimizations for Atziri's Temple. That is precisely why this feature remains highly popular, even with the new league mechanics in place.
Why did the development team fix the bug so quickly?
In fact, during previous leagues, the economy was often destabilized to the point where the player experience was ruined. Complaints would inevitably surface toward the end of a league, yet the developers would either fail to respond or react far too late.
This time, however, PoE 2 development team took immediate action the moment the bug appeared, releasing an emergency hotfix to reduce the rewards from Atziri's Temple. While you might be pleased by this, you may also be wondering why the response was so swift.
We speculate that, as a new core mechanic, Atziri's Temple likely underwent systematic optimization prior to the launch of Patch 0.5.0, making it easier to fix than a brand-new system.
Furthermore, Return of the Ancients is likely the final major patch before the official launch of Path of Exile 2 Version 1.0. Failure to resolve issues early on could lead to a collapse later down the line, jeopardizing the game's release schedule and damaging its reputation among the player base.
Although some players find the recent flurry of bugs and fixes a bit of a hassle, preferring to wait a while before diving into Patch 0.5.0, the general sentiment regarding the game's future remains optimistic.
That covers everything for now. If you previously steered clear of Atziri's Temple out of concern that the effort wouldn't be worth the reward, now is the time to jump back in! Have fun!

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Mercenary Cluster Grenade Leveling Build: The brand new Advanced Thaumaturgy enriches your playstyle!
Thanks to buffs for Gemling Legionnaire Ascendancy, specifically changes to Advanced Thaumaturgy Notable Passive Skill, Mercenary class has become increasingly popular in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0.
In this guide, we'll explain the new effects of Advanced Thaumaturgy and introduce a build designed to maximize the potential of Mercenary and Gemling Legionnaire. Read on to learn more!

The value of the reworked Advanced Thaumaturgy
As a signature skill for Gemling Legionnaire, Advanced Thaumaturgy now grants a bonus effect based on the quality of your socketed gems.
For Mercenary's Cluster Grenade, this change transforms it into a skill that detonates instantly, delivering a shotgun-like blast capable of one-shotting bosses.
Here's why: Previously, Cluster Grenade's effect involved an initial explosion followed by multiple stages of spread. The four initial projectiles would split into 18 micro-projectiles each, potentially resulting in 72 total hits.
Now, with the reduced detonation time and the gem quality bonus, all 72 hits detonate at the exact same point. When focused on a single boss, this burst damage makes one-shotting them entirely possible!
However, to fully realize this build, you'll need to complete the initial leveling phase and craft the rest of your gear. Don't worry, we've outlined a plan for you below!
Leveling as a Mercenary
First, it's important to note that while this new Cluster Grenade Mercenary build is incredibly powerful, it doesn't require high-end gear; the skill itself carries most of the weight.
That said, if you have the budget and want to perfect your character, you can buy PoE 2 currency at IGGM to further boost the build's power.
Act 1
After landing and picking up your starter gear, defeat The Bloated Miller and acquire Permafrost Bolts, Fragmentation Rounds, and Entangle skills.
Entangle allows you to cast while moving quickly, eliminating the need to reload your crossbow or grenades and removing the need to wait around. Permafrost Bolts can freeze bosses, allowing you to shatter them with Fragmentation Rounds.
You will later unlock Multishot and Magnified Area support gems, but it is best to save them for your next skill, Explosive Grenade. After defeating The Rust King with this setup, you can also add Flash Grenade to your arsenal.
Regarding passive skills, focus on stacking projectile damage and increasing cooldown recovery speed during this phase; this ensures Flash Grenade is ready sooner, thereby boosting your overall projectile damage output.
For defense, prioritize pure armor; evasion rating is not a concern at this stage. It is worth noting that Essence of Virtue, a new talent for Gemling Legionnaire, will prove highly valuable for defense later on.

Act 2
Upon reaching level 22, you can acquire Explosive Shot and enhance it with Double Barrel support gem. Simultaneously, upgrade Multishot 1 to Multishot 2 and apply it to Explosive Shot as well. You can now remove Permafrost Bolts and Fragmentation Rounds from your setup.
In Act 2, rely primarily on Flash Grenade to handle enemies; use quick taps of Explosive Shot to finish off any stragglers.
When facing elite monsters, throw two Explosive Grenades in quick succession, then rapidly switch to Explosive Shot to detonate them for a burst of massive damage.
Before defeating Jamanra, the Abomination, remember to adjust your passive skills to enable instant reloading for Explosive Shot. To achieve this, utilize the weapon-swapping mechanic to gain bonuses for both crossbow reload speed and grenade damage.
Act 3
Vendors in this act will begin selling Bombard Crossbow; you definitely need one, as its effect allows grenade skills to fire an additional projectile. You can also combine three crossbows at Reforging Bench to craft a superior version.
Next, add Oil Grenade skill to the build. It lowers enemy elemental resistance and grants you bonuses from Persistent Ground and Potent Exposure.
If you have spare support gem slots, equip Magnified Area to this skill, and use Jeweller's Orbs to secure Elemental Armament bonus for Explosive Grenade.
Additionally, you should incorporate Wind Dancer. The evasion rating it provides on its own isn't particularly significant, but when paired with Blind Support gem, Wind Dancer ensures your survival as you weave rapidly through enemy ranks.
This is because enemies attempting to attack you are countered and blinded, rendering them unable to land effective hits, while you strike them with greater precision than ever.
Even if you make a mistake while dashing and find yourself swarmed by enemies, you can withstand the pressure; your armor provides enough damage reduction to help you turn a dangerous situation around.
Finally, during this act, you can enter Temple of Chaos to complete your second ascendancy; upon completion, be sure to select Advanced Thaumaturgy immediately.
If you have currency available to improve gem quality, I recommend investing it into Explosive Grenade to gain at least one additional projectile.
Viable gear upgrade strategies
While gear isn't critical for this build, if you wish to further optimize it, a good first step in reaching the endgame is to use Abyssal Crafting on your amulet to obtain a modifier granting +5% quality to all skills.
Alternatively, if you have enough Divine Orbs, you can trade for Lineage Support Gem Dialla's Desire that grants +5% quality to socketed skill gems.
That concludes our leveling strategy for Mercenary Gemling Legionnaire Cluster Grenade build. The name might sound a bit complex, but the combat performance is straightforward and highly effective, give it a try if you're interested!

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.1 Top 10 Build Rankings | High damage and fast clear dominate endgame
Two new Ascendancy classes in Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients are exceptionally strong and rank among the best choices for Patch 0.5.1. This league also introduces Runic Ward and Kalguuran skills, which give several other builds great potential as well.
One of the biggest frustrations for PoE 2 players is having too many options, making it hard to know which skills and builds are truly the best. Therefore, let us take a look at the powerful and popular builds in Patch 0.5.1.

Here are the top 10 builds:
- Whirling Assault Martial Artist
- Twisters Spirit Walker
- Ice Shot Deadeye
- Vivid Stampede Spirit Walker
- Disciple of Varashta Minion
- Companion Spirit Walker
- Ice Shot Amazon
- Grim Pillar Totem Oracle
- Plants Abyssal Lich
- Grenades Gemling Legionnaire
No.1 Whirling Assault Martial Artist
Martial Artist is one of the strongest Ascendancy classes in POE 2 Runes of Aldur League. Whirling Assault, in turn, is the best and most efficient clear skill in this league.
The core interaction of this build relies on the synergy between Hollow Form and Lochtonial Caress Tempered Mitts. Hollow Form generates a clone that performs Whirling Assault. The glove effect grants Power, Frenzy, and Endurance charges to an ally when you use Whirling Assault. Since the skill is performed by the clone, your character is considered an ally and thus receives these charges.
In terms of both offense and defense, Whirling Assault Martial Artist performs at the highest level. Notably, Way of the Stonefish node greatly enhances your gloves and boosts your defensive capabilities. Meanwhile, Whirling Assault's area of effect covers almost the entire screen. This build has virtually no weakness in any aspect.
No.2 Twisters Spirit Walker
Spirit Walker is already an excellent choice for a twister build, because Primal Bounty node grants two additional projectiles and projectile speed bonus to empowered skills.
This build deals tremendous damage, clears maps incredibly fast, and is the strongest early-game starter among all builds. Its only drawback is slightly less survivability compared to Whirling Assault Martial Artist.
No.3 Ice Shot Deadeye
Ice Shot Deadeye already has top-tier clear speed in Path of Exile 2. When paired with Snipe, her single-target boss damage is also excellent, and she can almost delete bosses instantly. In the late game, as bow damage scales to its peak, you can fully transition into a pure Ice Shot setup.
In POE 2 Patch 0.5, buffs to evasion and deflection have raised Deadeye to a mid-to-high level of survivability. This build is extremely powerful at all stages of the game and in all aspects. It is a great fit for players who enjoy high-damage builds.
No.4 Vivid Stampede Spirit Walker
Vivid Stampede has high base damage and consumes one Vivid Wisp to deal 362% damage, with the ability to consume up to four Vivid Wisps at once. You only need to move 10 meters to obtain a Wisp.
You can stack dodge roll distance and movement speed to consistently generate Wisps, then use other skills to trigger Vivid Stampede. Although its survivability and boss damage are somewhat lacking, its clear speed in the endgame is very fast, making it excellent for farming.
No.5 Disciple of Varashta Minion
This build was already strong in the previous version. Runes of Aldur League further buffed command skills, providing bonuses to minion damage, reduced movement speed penalties, skill speed, and more.
This build offers good survivability and solid damage. The reduction in movement speed penalty removes its biggest weakness, greatly improving its clear speed. While it is not as efficient as the top-tier builds, it is still very strong compared to ordinary builds.
No.6 Companion Spirit Walker
Companion system received multiple buffs in Runes of Aldur League. Spirit Walker is also a Companion Ascendancy, allowing you to capture beast bosses as your companions.
Companion Spirit Walker boasts the highest boss damage in the entire game. Its survivability is moderate, but your companions surround you and absorb damage on your behalf. Another weakness is that its clear speed is not top-tier, which is expected since this is a non-command minion build.
No.7 Ice Shot Amazon
In Patch 0.4, Ice Shot Amazon had better survivability than Deadeye because of its Stalking Panther Ascendancy Skill. However, in Patch 0.5, Deadeye's survivability has greatly improved, while Amazon has become relatively weaker in survival because it struggles to benefit from leech.
Even though Ice Shot Deadeye has a higher ceiling, Amazon remains extremely strong when you do not have much PoE 2 currency to invest in gears.
No.8 Grim Pillar Totem Oracle
Oracle has always been a powerful spellcasting Ascendancy class. Force Outcome node provides a massive amount of critical strike damage and critical strike chance, while Unseen Path allows you to access unique and strong nodes on the passive skill tree.
This build has decent clear speed and respectable boss damage. Unfortunately, unless you invest a large amount of PoE 2 currency into gearing the character, its survivability will struggle to reach a comfortable level.
No.9 Plants Abyssal Lich
Plants Abyssal Lich excels in clear speed and has far better survivability than Oracle. It utilizes the classic low-life Lich build, with Atziri's Disdain Gold Circlet directly applying damage to your health. While your energy shield is active, your health remains constant, effectively granting damage reduction.
This build's boss damage is somewhat average, but you can handle that properly by incorporating Bonestorm. Although it requires a significant investment in gear, it remains a very fun playstyle.
No.10 Grenades Gemling Legionnaire
The playstyle of this build is to throw grenades and walk away, letting them detonate automatically behind you. Cluster Grenades serve as an excellent burst skill and can instantly delete bosses as well.
The main drawback of this build is that its area of effect is not large enough, leading to somewhat slow clear speed. Nevertheless, if you want to play a grenade build, this is likely your best option.
If future patches released during POE 2 Runes of Aldur League make balance adjustments, this ranking may change. However, as of now, every build listed above is very reliable.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 brings Refutation and Repulsion Kalguuran Skills | Master Survival with Block or Automate Curse Explosions
Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 brings a host of exciting new tools for character building, including Kalguuran skill gems, support gems, and Runes of Aldur.
If you are not chasing meta builds but instead enjoy exploring interesting interactions, Refutation and Repulsion are two Kalguuran skills worth trying. You can slot them into almost any build, and they might even elevate some setups into the meta.

Refutation
Effect
Refutation is a purely defensive skill. When you activate it, the skill consumes all your Runic Ward in exchange for a brief buff. While under this effect, you can block any attack that is normally blockable, and you also apply Parried debuff to enemies.
It does not require a shield at all, so casters, dual-wielders, or any other style can use it. However, you do need some Runic Ward on your gear.
The protection from Refutation works from all directions. You can block melee attacks, ranged projectiles, and even explosions or slams that you might otherwise think are unavoidable. Only boss attacks that typically flash red and damage over time effects can pierce through it.
Moreover, unlike raising a shield, you can fight normally and move at full speed while blocking with Refutation - no hindrance at all.
Parried Buff
Parried effect applied to enemies also disables their evasion ability and increases the damage they take from attacks by 50%.
If you are using a spear, this also makes it extremely easy to apply Parried debuff for your follow-up skills to consume. Additionally, this method of parrying mechanically counts as hitting the enemy, which allows you to trigger synergies with other gear or skill effects.
How to Handle Refutation's Drawbacks?
Refutation is not a perfect skill. Beyond consuming Runic Ward, you also need to consider its activation time, cooldown, and the buildup of heavy stun. Yet these drawbacks are trivial compared to the survival benefits it provides.
Runic Ward Consumption
Refutation does not consume much Runic Ward - roughly 3 to 13 points per second. By default, Runic Ward regenerates at 5% of its maximum value per second. As long as you invest a bit POE 2 currency to stack Runic Ward on a few gear pieces, you can easily reach a maximum above 300.
The natural regeneration per second is already enough to cover Refutation's consumption, unless your main skill is also a Kalguuran skill. On top of that, you can gain additional regeneration rate bonuses through Charging Runes.
Warding Rune of Obsession doubles your regeneration, and Ward Runes directly raise your maximum Runic Ward. Their band affixes also provide extra Runic Ward recovery. With these, your character can recover dozens of Runic Ward per second, so you hardly need to worry about Runic Ward limitation.
Refutation Duration
Refutation lasts for 4 seconds, and its cooldown is around 10 seconds, so it might seem impossible to keep it up permanently. However, achieving full uptime is not difficult.
You can link it with Prolonged Duration and Cooldown Recovery support gems to increase its duration and reduce its cooldown. With a little more cooldown reduction or duration stacking, you can maintain it constantly.
Heavy Stun
The skill gem does carry a negative effect of "50% reduced stun threshold," which improves to 30% with quality. But the skill itself provides a buff based on the amount of Runic Ward consumed: for every 10 Runic Ward consumed, you gain 5% increased stun threshold.
For example, with over 300 Runic Ward, you gain more than 150% increased stun threshold. As a result, your stun resistance actually becomes quite high. You do not need to invest any additional PoE 2 currency to handle stun. Any extra stun threshold you pick up from the passive tree, jewels, or gear only makes you even more resilient.
In practice, you are constantly moving and dealing damage in combat, not taking hits non-stop. Thus you have plenty of time for the heavy stun bar to reset, or you can simply activate the skill only when needed. Its cast speed is fast, and with Faster Casting and Mobility support gems, it feels very smooth.
Repulsion
Effect
Repulsion is essentially a curse that inflicts enemies with Fragility. Cursed enemies explode when hit, consuming the curse and dealing physical attack damage in an area. This explosion has a strong knockback effect and builds up stun, with the latter increasing based on the number of Fragility stacks.
Repulsion consumes only 60 Spirit, so you can put it into Blasphemy buff skill to turn it into an aura. Moreover, Repulsion triggered through Blasphemy does not consume Runic Ward.
Repulsion can turn you into an auto-bomber, providing offensive, defensive, and utility benefits. Under Blasphemy aura, Repulsion curse continuously surrounds you and applies itself automatically. Once it is consumed by a hit and triggers an explosion, the curse is almost immediately reapplied.
How to Achieve Full Automation?
You need to keep hitting enemies to consume the curse and trigger explosions. For some builds this is easy. But if you want full automation, Living Lightning support gem is an excellent choice.
You only need a small source of lightning damage. Living Lightning will produce enough hits to reliably trigger Repulsion explosions. Once an explosion happens, the explosion itself hits nearby enemies and summons its own Living Lightning minions. Those minions then hit cursed monsters, triggering Repulsion again, creating an infinite loop.
AoE is very helpful for this mechanism. You can increase the radius of Blasphemy aura or the explosion area. Both generic AoE and curse AoE work.
These two skills have low requirements but can significantly improve the feel of your build. If you find that your build is not powerful enough in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5, then Refutation and Repulsion might just save it.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Runeforging Mechanic Guide: How to maximize the effectiveness of Runic Ward?
Among all the new mechanics introduced in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0, Runeforging stands out as one of the best ways to enhance your armor and weapons.
Utilizing this mechanic requires the consumption of Verisium metal, hence why it is also referred to as Verisium Runeforging. Furthermore, to maximize the effectiveness of Runeforging, the key lies in gear-enhancing effects such as Runic Ward.
In this guide, we will introduce you to Runeforging mechanic, covering its intricate details and associated items, to help you make the most of it.

Runeforging Mechanic overview
Once you have acquired Verisium metal, you can utilize Runeforging to consume it, thereby granting Runic Ward to your armor or upgrading your armor and weapons. The specific effects depend on the base level and attributes of the gear in question.
It is worth clarifying that Runic Ward acts as a special defensive layer that only activates when your life drops to 1.
While Runic Ward is absorbing incoming damage on your behalf, you can utilize other mechanics or items to recover your life; however, if your Runic Ward is depleted before you manage to recover, you will still die.
As for the upgrading effects, which include replacing modifiers, increasing the number of sockets, and more, the available options will expand as you progress through the league. However, this mechanic is currently applicable only to weapons and armor of Level 55 or lower.
How to obtain Verisium Metal?
As the essential special currency required to utilize Runeforging mechanic, the best way to acquire Verisium during Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 campaign is by completing Farrow's questline.
This questline consists of four quests, distributed evenly across Acts 1 through 4. Completing them not only rewards you with Verisium metal but also grants standard PoE 2 currency and unlocks additional Runeforging options.
Once you reach the endgame, the primary method for obtaining this special metal involves interacting with Ezomyte Remnants. These are structures scattered throughout the world, each featuring empty sockets.
You can insert runes you have collected into these sockets to activate and empower the monsters surrounding Remnant; defeating these empowered monsters will yield Verisium metal and other loot.
Notably, by defeating high-tier Runic monsters or completing specific boss encounters within Expeditions, you may also be rewarded with Exceptional Verisium.
You can think of them as a type of auxiliary tool, or, perhaps more accurately, as upgrade materials that are significantly more potent than standard Verisium. Consequently, acquiring them on the trading market requires a larger investment of PoE 2 currency.
In light of this, we suggest that before you dive into utilizing Runeforging mechanic in-game, you consider participating in IGGM PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0 currency giveaways!
If you happen to be one of the lucky winners, a one-in-ten chance, you could receive 100 Divine Orbs and 1,000 Exalted Orbs completely free of charge!
Is Runic Ward worth using?
As the core effect of Runeforging mechanic, Runic Ward can undoubtedly give you some much-needed breathing room and opportunities to recover during critical situations. However, it is not a suitable choice for every Path of Exile 2 character build.
This is because, as a balancing mechanism for gaining Runic Ward, evasion, energy shield, or standard armor values on your gear will decrease after undergoing Runeforging process.
For standard gear, this balancing mechanism generally results in an overall net gain in stats; however, if your specific build relies heavily on those three defensive attributes, then trading them away to acquire Runic Ward would not be a wise decision.
This is especially true once your gear reaches Level 50 or higher, or if you have already assembled a best-in-slot endgame gear setup; in such cases, sacrificing your existing defensive attributes to gain Runic Ward often results in a net loss rather than a gain.
Doing so not only risks lowering your attack speed, but if your build also relies on those defensive attributes to provide damage bonuses, your overall damage output will suffer a corresponding decline.
Conversely, if your build does not rely on these specific defensive stats to boost its damage output or other performance metrics, then Runic Ward is an excellent system to utilize.
Once you decide to acquire Runic Ward, you can view it as your final line of defense, or essentially as a reserve pool of extra life.
During the early stages of the game, Runic Ward serves as an effective way to significantly increase your maximum life ceiling.
As you progress into the endgame and begin exploring Maps, you will encounter special gems or unique items that sometimes feature specific affixes, allowing Runic Ward to synergize with other game mechanics.
This means that the value of Runic Ward extends beyond mere defense, further enriching the possibilities for crafting and optimizing your builds within Runes of Aldur league.
What are alloys?
Patch 0.5.0 introduces 13 new alloy currency items to the game. We are highlighting them specifically because, during gameplay, you might easily confuse their function with that of Runeforging system.
The purpose of Alloys is to randomly select and remove one of the existing affixes on a piece of gear; subsequently, depending on the gear type, they apply a guaranteed new crafted modifier. Notably, these specific modifiers cannot be obtained through any other means.
Since the affixes associated with each type of alloy vary, some are considered more valuable and are significantly harder to acquire, such as Mystic Alloy and Prismatic Alloy.
That concludes our overview for this update. While the new content introduced in Patch 0.5.0 may seem extensive and perhaps a bit tricky to grasp at first, once you understand the underlying mechanics, you will find that it is actually quite simple!

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Expedition Farming Strategy without Tablets | Aldur's Saga brings both risk and great reward
In the early phase of PoE 2 Runes of Aldur League, currency holds greater value than it does later on because inflation tends to set in by the mid-to-late stages of almost every league. Therefore, establishing an efficient currency farming strategy early allows your build to come together faster than others, and lets you adopt high-efficiency farming methods sooner.
In PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0, Expeditions are one of the best farming strategies in the early game. It is profitable, and you can easily earn Divine Orbs even without Atlas passives or Tablets.

Why Choose Expedition?
In PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0, Expedition has been reworked alongside other systems and integrated with the new Runes of Aldur league mechanic. Since Expedition no longer appears on the passive tree, this means that aside from the small bonuses provided by Masters of the Atlas, there is no other way to increase Expedition's output.
Each Master of the Atlas has a node that enhances Expedition. For example:
- Eastern Knowledge: 10% chance to re-roll Verisium Remnants an additional time while keeping the rarest outcome.
- Refined Formula: Increases the radius of explosives and their placement range.
- Scarred Lands: Increases the number of Runic Monster Markers and Rare Expedition Monsters.
Initial Steps
This farming strategy requires you to first enter an Atlas map. To begin, you need to complete Expedition questline:
- Use a Logbook to uncover an area.
- Defeat the deadly boss in that area to obtain another Logbook.
- Repeat this four times, then challenge the pinnacle boss.
After completing the quest and defeating the pinnacle boss, deadly bosses no longer guarantee to appear in areas, nor do they drop Logbooks. At this point, you will need to obtain Logbooks from the currency market.
Grand Expeditions
Next, you should shift your focus to Grand Expeditions. They yield two to three times as many Verisium Remnants as regular Expeditions and can be completed more quickly. The drawback is that they cannot sustain map drops reliably. Telling a regular Expedition from a Grand one is simple, because the map icon for a Grand Expedition is surrounded by spikes.
In a Grand Expedition, your core target is Verisium Remnants, though you should not miss any PoE 2 currency, chests, or gold along the way. Verisium Remnants offer very generous rewards; you can obtain rare unique items, Runic Alloys, or even Divine Orbs from them.
To improve efficiency, first survey the entire area and check the rewards of each Verisium Remnant. Only complete those remnants that offer good rewards. If none of Verisium Remnants are worth running, place a single explosion and detonate it to clear the map, then move on to the next Atlas node.
Late-Game Returns
Map Selection
Moor of Fallen Skies map is essentially a large Verisium Remnant encounter where you can choose from up to 8 reward options. These include Divine Orbs, Alloys, Gems, and Aldur's Saga. Divine Orbs are a fairly safe choice, but if you are aiming for higher returns, Aldur's Saga is recommended.
Aldur's Saga
Aldur's Saga is very rare. Early in a league, you might not find it on the market at all. However, it is your top choice among Expedition rewards because Aldur's Saga can modify your Grand Expeditions.
Specifically, it adds a modifier that guarantees a minimum number of slots on Verisium Remnants within Grand Expeditions. For instance, Verisium Remnants in that map will have at least 5 slots, or 6 slots. On average, Aldur's Saga affects about three to 4 Grand Expeditions per area.
These modifiers are remarkably powerful. While the 7-slot version offers more rewards, it also requires longer combat. If your build is not yet strong enough, sticking to Verisium Remnants with 5 or 6 slots may be a safer approach.
However, using Aldur's Saga carries some risk. You might encounter a map with only one Grand Expedition, which essentially exchanges a rare item that could be worth multiple PoE 2 Divine Orbs later for a modest return. Nevertheless, even the lowest return yields loot worth at least 2 Divine Orbs.
The profitability of this strategy does not rely solely on Aldur's Saga. Sometimes the rewards may not include it at all, yet the other rewards are still generous enough.
Expedition farming strategy requires you to invest some currency in Aldur's Saga, which can be a burden for players in the early stages of the league. However, IGGM's POE 2 Divine Orbs and Exalted Orbs Giveaways on Discord might solve your immediate problem.
How to Further Boost Returns?
Rare Monsters
This strategy does not require you to use Tablets, nor does it impose many demands on the map itself aside from Moor of Fallen Skies map. You can modestly increase the number of rare monsters and rarity bonuses, then focus on farming rare monsters; the returns may be even higher.
Verisium Remnant Slots
The more slots a Verisium Remnant has, the more waves of monsters you must defeat. The loot explosion from a 7- or 8-slot Verisium encounter is far larger than that of 5 or 6 slots. If you feel your build is strong enough, you can choose Verisium Remnants with more slots, leading to greater monster drops.
This is just a fairly rough farming strategy in PoE 2 Patch 0.5.0. In short, focus on Moor of Fallen Skies map and choose Aldur's Saga from the rewards. As your character gets better gear, you can take on more burden and increase the returns per farming session.
