New World Aeternum Season 9 Adjusting Various Settings For More Efficient Gameplay
Posted: Sep 23, 2025 Views: 30
While the core of playing New World Aeternum is completing quests and challenges by continuously leveling up your character and collecting more materials and gear, there are also several factors outside of combat that constantly impact your gaming experience.
Outside of the game, this factor might be your device's performance. In-game, your game settings can also affect your quest completion efficiency in various ways - in fact, most MMORPGs, including New World, have complex settings.
With this in mind, this time we'll introduce a streamlined and efficient setup based on the ongoing Season 9 basic game settings. If you don't have your own setup style yet, you can refer to our suggestions.
Inventory Settings
The inventory system is perhaps the most fundamental yet complex part of the settings. It's where you'll find everything from New World coins you earn to various other in-game items, and you can monitor your inventory in real time.
We recommend keeping potions and food in easily accessible locations, as you'll likely need them urgently during combat. Next up are weapons and armor, as you'll likely need to switch between them for different battles.
As for other miscellaneous items, like fishing items or craft mods, since they're less important, you can simply place them toward the bottom. As for coins, the game also displays the number you have directly on screen.
Alternatively, you can use the sorting options to arrange your inventory in any way you like. For example, if you sort by gear score after completing a mission and earning a large amount of loot, you can immediately check the gear score and discard the unworthy items.
Also, you'll notice that the filter is next to the search bar in the inventory settings. Here, you can change the two columns to a single one, making the inventory look wider and more attractive, and you can also adjust the way items are displayed.
Map Settings
First, if you're a new player or returning to New World Aeternum after a long absence, you may notice that the map doesn't have faction colors when you open it, making it difficult to determine whether to travel to certain zones. Simply click the filter tab on the left to display them.
At the bottom of the map settings screen, you can see the faction influence and territory size of each faction. While you may not necessarily want to engage in PvP, understanding these settings can help you avoid accidentally entering enemy faction zones.
Game Settings
While game settings won't significantly affect your combat success rate, improperly setting them can make combat feel restrictive and uncomfortable. First, we recommend disabling camera shake and enabling tilt zoom.
This will give you a wider perspective during enormous battles, especially boss fights, allowing you to see more of your surroundings, or help you see through walls and objects in PvP scenarios.
If you want to better control your combat perspective, you can also try disabling vertical camera smoothing.
As for game options, if you want to more clear identify enemies and allies, you can set them to different, uniform colors. For mounts, you can set them to auto-run, which will automatically continue along a set route.
The most important aspect of this section is HUD layout. The default is to have the stamina bar and mana bar in the center, but you can adjust their positions to suit your taste or preferences.
For example, you can use side-by-side mode, position them relative to the edges of the screen, or move them closer to the center of the screen, bringing your health or stamina bar closer to your character so you can always keep track of their status.
Note that HUD layout will be changing in Season 10, allowing you to fully customize your HUD.
Also, if you frequently play PvP, you can increase the font size of player names and game counts from the default 15 to a higher value to more easily identify enemies and allies around you.
You can also enable prioritize group nameplates, especially if you play a healer role. This will allow you to more quickly see who's in your party and who you can heal.
Healing Settings
Speaking of healing, healing settings are naturally important. It's recommended to enable targeted healing. Then, disable follow target lock, aim re-aim, and stick lock.
This way, you can look around freely, see which teammates are injured, and heal them without having to worry about the camera being locked on a specific target.
Keyboard Settings
For keyboard and mouse settings, I strongly recommend using free movement. Otherwise, if you try to move in a circle, you'll have to rotate your camera accordingly, which is very cumbersome and looks silly.
Also, I recommend enabling camera direction for melee attacks. This allows you to attack enemies directly from your camera position when attacking them within melee range.
If you're a healer, you can use hot-keys to lock onto your team's target. This allows you to cycle between groups while completing raids with your teammates, especially useful when completing Hive of Gorgons raid.
Key Binding Settings
This section is primarily for healers. If you want to further improve your healing efficiency, it's best to avoid using the scroll wheel to select targets and instead set key bindings for specific teammates.
In addition, in group mode, you can set the group member targeting option. If you only want to heal members in your group, enable it. If you want to heal outside of your group, disable it.
That's the main points for this introduction. It's important to note that after Season 10 launches, you'll need to adjust your settings in a timely manner based on game changes, such as HUD layout - the core of optimal game settings should actually be flexibility.
