Diablo 4: How To Maximize Your Damage Output? - Damage Buckets Explained

Today we are going to talk about Damage Buckets. In Diablo 4, you have five different damage ranges.

Damage Buckets Explained

The first is base damage. Base damage is the damage you deal when you hit something or cast an ability. The damage you do when you hit something is just the damage you do per hit. Speed is your attack, and speed speaks for itself.

Now your ability damage gets a little more complicated. It has a Modifier. In my case, the probability of Corpse Explosion is 209%. Modifier is the most powerful place you can get damage.

Therefore, it is the most important Modifier on your list of things to pay attention to. This Modifier is also modified by your base skills. You can see that there is a 46% multiplier that gives you the base damage or more damage no matter what else is going on in Diablo 4.

The second is critical damage. I’ll explore how it plays out with Overpower. Now, there are two other very important Damage Buckets, Modifiers and Vulnerable.

We can apply Vulnerable with certain skills. Even though I’m Sacrificing, Necromancers can get an Iron Golem through it.

Modifiers can respond to anything that happens in the game. By that I mean any status applied to the enemy or any type of damage you deal to them. It included all the damage in this category. These add up if we met the conditions.

The last position is Overpower. Overpower power is a strange power. It is the only species that does not reproduce. This is an extra bonus. It reduces your health, not your damage. So when you get 3% crit chance, it adds 130% health as damage. So, it is necessary to prepare enough Healing Potions with Diablo 4 Gold before you start your adventure.

Uptime

The next concept I want to discuss is Uptime. Uptime is the amount of time you take to deal with damage modifiers. For example, critical hits increase my damage by 72%. But it doesn’t always do that. It only does so 21% of the time. We multiply these two numbers together to get the actual damage increase.

But if you are fighting a Boss, since Boss is Elite, Uptime is 100%. So you will always do 40% more damage. For situations like Crowd Control, Chilled and Frozen, it’s a bit more difficult to calculate.

Diablo 4: Damage Buckets Max out your Damage

If you have 35% Uptime, because based on health, you will do more damage 35% of the time. If you’re using an elemental skill, the elemental will always be applied. That’s just a basic requirement for Uptime, just because something has a bigger number doesn’t mean it’s actually better.

How To Apply Damage Buckets?

I’m just going to show some of what Damage Buckets look like when applied. It showed some crit damage stats in yellow on the screen. Vulnerable has a pop-up that reveals Vulnerable and makes the enemy’s health bar purple. It showed while Overpower in light blue. We show the combination of Overpower and Crit in orange.

Another situation where damage is dealt is when an enemy is affected by a status, such as being stunned, feared, chilled, or slowed. Any information about the state of the enemy is in Damage Buckets. Also, any elemental damage and all damage is also in Damage Buckets.

Below are all the sub-stats you can have on your gear. You might have a 6% chance to crit, but you do 24% crit damage. Some of these are just estimates based on what I’ve seen in the game, others are hard facts.

Diablo 4: Damage Stats

You’ll find two things that are really higher than other Vulnerable damage and base stat percentages, not base stat bonuses. The other is close range damage. The reason it’s lower than Vulnerable is that Vulnerable itself exists.

When you’re building, these are the stats you want to keep an eye on. You can play with these numbers and adjust to your build. But I think those are good general guidelines on how damage works.

So if you build up your base stats and your Vulnerable damage and damage to melee and elemental. When you fill in the gaps, you can probably do more damage than most in the game.
