The Writhing Coil

Vine Grip and Uncoil

The Writhing Coil is the boss in the dungeon that most tests team coordination. During the fight, Death Rattle will continuously inflict increasing raid damage, and Vine Grip is key to resolving this mechanic.

When Vine Grip appears, all surviving players will be linked to the boss via vines. At this point, the entire team must simultaneously move away from the boss, generating enough pull to uncoil The Writhing Coil.

The worst thing to do here is for anyone to continue standing still and attacking. Vine Grip is a raid-wide mechanic; if only some players move, the boss will enter Uncoil later, Death Rattle will last longer, and healers will be under immense pressure.

Using Ritual of the Fang will channel energy into the Fang of Ula'tek. If players don't intervene, Zul'jan will gain Fang Empowered, causing the raid to take increasingly higher damage. Therefore, players must actively step into the beam's path to block it.

However, blocking the beam will trigger Ritual Venom, an effect that stacks and, if not dealt with promptly, will cause extremely high damage upon its end. Therefore, blocking the beam is only the first step in the mechanic.

Bloodletting and Arena Control

The key to dealing with Ritual Venom is Bloodletting. Being affected by Bloodletting will cause players to bleed, remove a certain number of stacks of Ritual Venom, and leave dangerous blood pools on the ground.

Overview of Patch 12.1 and Season 2
