Of course, evaluating storytelling is highly subjective; you might well feel WoW Midnight succeeds in this regard. We simply believe that injecting more dramatic conflict would have made the experience more compelling.

Furthermore, the narrative suffers from being overly fragmented; it feels as though a jumble of ideas was shoehorned into a single story, while a cohesive main plot seems entirely absent. The result is a chaotic, disjointed linear experience.

A disjointed overall atmosphere

Looking back at the evolution of WoW franchise, the early game established a predominantly dark and somber tone through its lore. However, as more expansions and servers were introduced, the stylistic direction became increasingly eclectic.

This explains the recent community sentiment that "Warcraft no longer feels like Warcraft", a feeling that is even more pronounced in WoW Midnight, evident as early as the initial trailer release.
