WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Pre-Patch Strong Junkbox Farming Explained | Why Rogues Are the Smart Pick?

Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Jan 27, 2026 Views: 4532

Although we're still in the pre-patch phase for WoW TBC anniversary, many TBC items are already hidden in various corners. If you're only focused on leveling and earning gold, you might miss these items.

These items aren't just for collection, and they're actually quite useful. So let's take a look at what they are and where to obtain them.

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Pre-Patch Strong Junkbox Farming Explained | Why Rogues Are the Smart Pick?

Main Items

First, it's worth noting that many methods rely on a Rogue with 300 Lockpicking skill. You just need to level your Rogue to 60 and increase your Lockpicking skill by 10, which isn't too difficult. Let's clarify what specific items you can obtain.

If you have a level 60 Rogue, you can directly obtain Living Rubies in TBC pre-patch. All rare gems of various colors can be obtained directly from Strong Junkboxes. These chests also contain items like uncommon rings, which you can sell for gold.

For players who love PvP, Super Healing Potion and Super Mana Potion dropped by Strong Junkbox are also very useful. They are more valuable and have better healing effects.

Strong Junkbox Drop List

  • Flash Powder
  • Coarse Snuff
  • Deathweed
  • Dust of Deterioration
  • Essence of Agony
  • Shabby Knot
  • Carved Ivory Bone
  • Rogue's Diary
  • Humanoid Skull
  • Formula: Enchant Bracer - Superior Stamina
  • Plans: Radiant Leggings
  • Dragonscale Band
  • Living Ruby
  • Jasper Link
  • Star of Elune
  • Noble Topaz
  • Jungle Necklace
  • Obsidian Pendant
  • Opal Ring
  • Vermilion Band
  • Super Healing Potion

While certain drops from Strong Junkbox do not include epic items, you still have a chance to obtain them because they are in the public drop pool. Therefore, the probability of obtaining epic items is extremely low. However, some lucky individuals have proven this feasible, obtaining Spinesever and The Night Blade.

Besides items from Strong Junkbox, you can also fish in the waters of Karrazhan or cultivate Netherweave Cloth by killing Unliving Residents. You can currently earn some WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold by cultivating it, but due to the large number of players currently cultivating it, it will soon become abundant and significantly devalued, and hoarding too much is not recommended.

How to Obtain Them?

Your primary focus should definitely be on Strong Junkbox, as obtaining epic weapons before TBC begins is very tempting. You need to look for humanoid mobs between level 61 and 70 that can be stolen. Elite monsters generally have a higher drop rate. However, since almost all elite monsters have been significantly nerfed in TBC, you have more options.

Tainted Scar

Doomguard Commander and Felguard Elite here are both level 61 elite monsters. You can steal from every monster here to obtain a Strong Junkbox.

Alterac Valley

You can also steal from the four generals in Alterac Valley:

  • Galvangar Captain
  • Balinda Stonehearth General
  • Vanndar Stormpike General
  • Drek'Thar

They are all level 61 or higher, possibly reaching level 63. Some players have also reported that units like Stormpike Defenders and Horde camp guards can be stolen, but the drop rate is likely extremely low, and you can try it yourself.

The Burning Crusade World Event

The wandering demons appearing in the world event are at least level 63, so they can also be stolen for Strong Junkboxes. Additionally, Infernal and the event boss also have a chance to drop them.

Unliving Residents Outside Karazhan

These level 68 monsters are not only the primary source of Netherweave Cloth, but also drop other items such as TBC uncommon gear. You'll see many hunters in Tier 3 sets soloing here using their powerful Beast Mastery pets.

Fishing

All water sources in Karazhan correspond to TBC fishing skill. While you can't currently increase your fishing skill level, you can catch three types of fish to use as ingredients or to train your cooking skill.

Barbed Gill Trout

Barbed Gill Trout is the most common fish and can be used to make Skewered Trout or Blackened Trout. These are decent foods to eat in the instance, saving healers some time.

Crescent-Tail Skullfish

Crescent-Tail Skullfish can be used to make Skullfish Soup, which provides spell critical strike and spirit, making it a good choice for mages or warlocks during leveling, even superior to many Classic WoW foods.

Bloodfin Catfish

Bloodfin Catfish can be used to make Broiled Bloodfin, providing 8 points to all magic resistances. This might have special uses in certain extreme situations, but under the current resistance mechanics, it may not be very significant.

These are some of the interesting niche playstyles during WoW TBC Classic anniversary phase, and the list above is just a portion that might interest you. If you have multiple characters and are unsure which to choose, Rogue currently appears to be one of the best gold-making classes in the early TBC period.

This is mainly due to their lock picking skill and the ability to gather ores and herbs while stealthed in various TBC dungeons. Although there are some issues with script abuse, it remains an effective method for ordinary players. Therefore, if you are considering using a character level boost and are hesitating between Paladin and Rogue, given official adjustments to the solo capabilities of Mages and Paladins, you might currently prefer to choose Rogue.
