TBC's Mini-Phase 3.5 Is Bigger Than You Think: Zul'Aman & Major System Changes Arrive

PublishedPublished: Oct 22, 2026

ModifiedModified: Oct 22, 2026

The next content phase of Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary - Phase 3.5 - will officially launch on October 22nd at 3 PM PDT.

Although called a mini-phase, it brings a significant amount of content: a 10-player raid, an expansion of Badges of Justice drop rates covering older raids, and several system adjustments designed to lower the catch-up barrier for alts and returning players. Below is a breakdown of the core content of Phase 3.5.

Zul'Aman: Timed Challenge and Amani War Bear

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 3.5 Brings Zul'Aman, Easier Gear Catch-Up, and New Rewards

The new raid, Zul'Aman, located in Ghostlands, is a 10-player raid for level 70 players. Entry does not require completing an attunement and resets every 3 days.

The dungeon bosses are Nalorakk, Akil'zon, Jan'alai, Halazzi, Hex Lord Malacrass, and the final boss, Zul'jin.

In addition to the basic boss battles, this dungeon introduces a new timed hostage rescue mechanic. The raid group needs to speak with the NPC Harrison Jones, after which all five raid members must simultaneously activate Gong and hold it for several seconds to open the gate and begin a countdown.

The initial time is 20 minutes. Defeating specific bosses extends the timer:

  • Killing Nalorakk adds 15 minutes
  • Killing Akil'zon adds 10 minutes

This means that if the raid group can kill the first two bosses consecutively, the theoretical maximum timer window is 45 minutes. If the raid group defeats the first four bosses and successfully rescues all four hostages before the countdown ends, they will receive the final reward - Amani War Bear mount.

Since the dungeon resets every 3 days, players can theoretically complete two to three timed attempts per week, which objectively increases the chances of obtaining Amani War Bear.

A Comprehensive Expansion to Badges of Justice and Character Catching-Up Changes

TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 3.5 will significantly expand the ways to obtain Badges of Justice. After the update, the following bosses will also begin dropping Badges of Justice:

  • Doomlord Kazzak and Doomwalker
  • All bosses of Karazhan, Gruul's Lair, and Magtheridon's Lair
  • All bosses of Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep
  • All bosses of Zul'Aman

Simultaneously, Nether Vortex will be added to G'eras badge exchange list in Shattrath City. Primal Nether and Nether Vortex will also have their soulbound restrictions removed, allowing players to trade or sell them through the auction house, providing crafting professions with more flexible material acquisition channels and reducing the cost of some crafted equipment.

Dungeon entry requirements will also be adjusted accordingly. Battle for Mount Hyjal and Black Temple will remove the attunement requirement, allowing players to enter without completing the corresponding questlines. The difficulty of all heroic dungeons will also be adjusted to their final nerfed state, making it easier for characters with incomplete gear to farm dungeons.

Furthermore, the reputation requirement for purchasing heroic dungeon keys will be lowered from Revered to Honored, further reducing the preparation time for characters to unlock heroic dungeons.

For newly level 70 alts, returning players, and main characters looking to quickly acquire gear, these changes will significantly improve the efficiency of transitioning from basic gear to raid gear.

However, the lowered gear catch-up threshold doesn't mean character progression will be instantaneous. For players who want to further save time and accelerate their progression, BCC Anniversary gold for sale is also an option.

Epic Gems, Crafting Professions, and Accessibility Updates

Epic Gems will be available in Phase 3.5 of TBC Anniversary. They can be obtained through Magtheridon's Black Sack of Gems and Brilliant Glass crafted by Jewelcrafters.

However, there's an important timeframe to note: Only Black Sacks of Gems newly acquired after Phase 3.5 launches, and Brilliant Glass crafted afterward, will have a chance to yield Epic Gems. Black Sacks of Gems acquired before Phase 3.5 launch but not yet opened, and Brilliant Glass crafted before, will not yield Epic Gems.

If you're holding these items in your inventory hoping to profit from Epic Gems after Phase 3.5 opens, this will not be possible.

Regarding crafting professions, several noteworthy changes are included. With the removal of the unique restriction on Dragonmaws, Master Hammersmiths can now equip two Dragonmaws simultaneously, further expanding weapon versatility for melee classes.

In addition, Greater Drums of Battle recipe has been added to the game, which players can unlock through the Sha'tar Quartermaster in Shattrath after reaching Honored reputation.

Another noteworthy convenience change is that the NPC Zephyr will appear in the World's End Tavern in Shattrath. Players with Revered reputation with Keepers of Time can teleport to Caverns of Time for free via Zephyr, saving the time required for long-distance flight.

Phase 3.5's Positioning

The core value of WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Phase 3.5 lies in gear catching up and economic adjustments. Zul'Aman offers new raid challenges and mount rewards, and old raids now drop Badges of Justice. Combined with lower raid entry requirements and the debinding of crafting materials, this allows alts and returning players to gear up more quickly. Meanwhile, changes to Epic Gems and crafting professions will create new market opportunities, preparing for the upcoming Sunwell Plateau phase.
