WoW TBC Classic Anniversary 9 Early Tips | How To Get Gems, Recipes, And Save Gold?

Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Dec 20, 2025 Views: 4367

WoW The Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary is the most anticipated expansion, with its pre-patch scheduled to launch on January 13, 2026.

WoW TBC differs significantly from Classic WoW. Ignoring these changes could lead to wasted time in the early game. Let's look at some tips you can leverage in the early stages.

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary 9 Early Tips | How To Get Gems, Recipes, And Save Gold?

1. Mount System Changes

The mount system in TBC has undergone significant changes compared to Classic WoW. The level requirement for players to acquire their first mount has been lowered from 40 to 30. This change was implemented in the later stages of TBC, and WoW TBC Anniversary will use the final version, making this change available.

Additionally, race-specific riding skills have been removed. Players can now simply learn higher levels of riding, just like professions. However, in Classic WoW, mounts were highly valuable and training was relatively easy. In The Burning Crusade, training requires more gold, but acquiring mounts is very easy.

2. Darkmoon Faire

Darkmoon Faire appears for one week each month. In addition to the existing locations in Elwynn Forest and Mulgore, a new location was added in TBC: south of Shattrath City in Terokkar Forest. A merchant named Professor Thaddeus Paleo works at the fair, selling limited-edition items such as rare gems, motes, and scrolls.

3. Shattrath City Shortcut

Players with Aldor reputation can find a path to Nagrand north of Aldor Rise in Shattrath City, saving significant travel time.

Furthermore, after accepting the introductory quest “City of Light” in Shattrath City, you can skip following the NPCs throughout the city and go directly to the quest's end to wait. The quest will automatically complete in approximately 8-9 minutes. On a populated server, the actual waiting time will be even shorter because other players' NPCs can also help you complete the quest. The same technique can be used for Caverns of Time introductory quest.

4. How To Quickly Get Gems?

When you acquire equipment with gem sockets during leveling, their stats may be worse than unsocketed equipment of the same level if you don't socket gems.

If you don't want to get gems from the auction house, you can trade with gem vendor on Hellfire Peninsula for common quality gems. Each common gem costs only 2 WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold, which is very convenient for alts or temporary replenishment.

  • Alliance: Markus Scylan in Honor Hold.
  • Horde: Reagan Mancuso in Thrallmar.

5. Consortium

Consortium is a new reputation faction in WoW TBC. Once you reach Friendly reputation with your faction, you can accept a repeatable weekly quest from the NPC Gezhe in Aeris Landing, Nagrand.

Completing the quest rewards you with a bag of gems; the quantity and quality of the gems increase with reputation. The main reward for quests at Friendly level is uncommon gems, while at Exalted level there's a chance to get rare gems.

6. Raid Flasks

In The Burning Crusade Phase 2, once Tempest Keep and Serpentshrine Cavern are unlocked, you can obtain raid flasks in a more economical way.

First, you need to reach Exalted reputation with Sha'tar, Cenarion Expedition, and either Aldor or Scryers factions. Then, in Tier 5 and Tier 6 raids, trash mobs and bosses will drop Marks of the Illidari.

Once you have Exalted reputation with these factions, you can exchange these Marks for any desired flask at a 1:1 ratio with an NPC near the bank in Shattrath City. However, flasks obtained this way can only be used in Tier 5 and Tier 6 raids; regular flasks are still required for other raids or heroic dungeons.

7. Alchemy Gold Saving Tip

In The Burning Crusade, Alchemy is divided into three specializations: Transmutation Master, Elixir Master, and Potion Master. Learning Transmutation Master usually requires completing a quest that consumes 4 Primal Mights.

You can first accept and complete Master of Potions quest, then forget the specialization for 150 gold. Afterward, you can directly learn Transmutation Master without having to complete the quest again. This can save several days of Transmutation cooldown time and a significant amount of gold.

8. Scrolls

In WoW TBC Classic Anniversary, scrolls no longer conflict with potions that provide similar stats, and they are not classified as Battle/Guardian Elixir or Flasks. Therefore, they can be stacked, making them very useful for players aiming for the highest stats.

The new Rank 5 scrolls in TBC provide +20 to your primary stat, with Strength and Agility scrolls being the most important. They can be obtained from monsters in the open world, quests, and dungeons. Professor Thaddeus Paleo, mentioned above, also sells them, but competition is fierce. Besides these, there are other ways to obtain scrolls:

  • Completing Horde's “A Job Unfinished...” or Alliance's “Unfinished Business” quest allows you to choose 5 scrolls.
  • When Field Repair Bot 74A, crafted by Engineers, is summoned, its shop will sell scrolls.
  • In Skettis area of Terokkar Forest, after completing questlines such as World of Shadows and A Shabby Disguise to obtain Shabby Arakkoa Disguise disguise, you can talk to the NPC Sahaak, who will sell limited scrolls.

9. Recipes

Unlike WoW 20th Class, many core profession recipes in TBC are Bind on Pickup, meaning you can't trade them from the auction house and must find the corresponding vendors in person.

You can use addons to show the locations of various profession trainers and merchants in Outland. Besides recipes, many merchants also sell limited-edition items, which can sometimes be profitable to resell.

In the early stages of WoW TBC, players will lack many things, including gold, potions, and gems. However, these are actually scattered throughout various areas. By exploring different areas, you can reap good rewards.
