PS5 players will begin pre-loading on November 10th at 00:00 local time. Xbox Series X|S will use a unified global time of November 10th, 2026 at 00:00 GMT. However, the exact time may vary by region. Here are the pre-load times for major regions:

  • AEDT - November 10th, 11:00
  • NZDT - November 10th, 13:00

How to Preload GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

According to official information, GTA 6 pre-load requires up to 212GB. Available storage space; actual needs may vary depending on the device.

While this doesn't mean every player needs to download exactly 212 GB of files, it's recommended to check your console's remaining storage beforehand and delete any games you no longer play or other unnecessary files to avoid interruptions due to insufficient space after preload begins.

PS5

PS5 players need to purchase or pre-order GTA 6 through the PlayStation Store and log in to their console using the corresponding PlayStation Network account.

To ensure the game downloads automatically after preload opens, check your console's automatic download settings beforehand:

1. Open PS5 Settings.

2. Go to Saved Data and Game/App Settings and check the relevant automatic download options.

3. Confirm that Automatic Downloads is enabled.

4. Ensure your console is connected to the internet and powered on or in Rest Mode.

Rockstar reminds PS5 players that automatic downloads must be enabled and the console powered on or in Rest Mode to use automatic preload.

If automatic download doesn't start, you can manually start the download by going to the Game Library after pre-load opens, finding your pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto VI, and downloading it manually.

Xbox Series X|S

Xbox Series X|S players also need to have completed their digital purchase or pre-order of Grand Theft Auto 6 and ensure their console is connected to the internet.

To ensure pre-load proceeds correctly, it's recommended to check system updates and power settings beforehand:

1. Open Xbox Settings.

2. Go to System > Updates and check the automatic update options.

3. Go to Power Options and confirm that your console's power mode supports downloads during standby.

4. Keep your console connected to the internet and ensure it's in a power state suitable for downloading.

If automatic pre-load doesn't start, you can go to My games & apps after pre-load opens, find GTA 6, and check if you can manually start the download.

The main difference between the two editions lies in the additional content. Standard Edition provides the complete game and is sufficient for players who mainly want to experience GTA 6's story and core gameplay. The Ultimate Edition adds exclusive vehicles, weapons, clothing, customization shops, and other in-game locations.

These rewards are not simply bundled into a single bonus pack. Instead, they are integrated into Jason and Lucia's story and gradually introduced across different chapters. This gives Ultimate Edition owners access to more resources and customization options as they explore Vice City, potentially reducing the need to spend GTA VI money on certain early-game purchases.

However, players do not have to decide on all the additional content before launch. Rockstar has confirmed that Standard Edition owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade for $20 separately to obtain the same extra content later.

GTA 6 Preload and Edition FAQs

Q1: When Can I Play GTA 6 After Preloading?

November 19th. Preloading allows players to download game files in advance, not to unlock the game early. Even if you have completed the entire download, you still need to wait until the official release date to access the game.

Q2: Can I Use the New Zealand Trick to Play GTA 6 Early?

It depends. The New Zealand Trick is a method to try to unlock the game early by taking advantage of New Zealand's earlier arrival on November 19th.

Xbox players can directly switch their console region to New Zealand; PS5 players cannot directly change their PSN account region, they need to create a separate New Zealand account, purchase the game, and then share it via Console Sharing.

Q3: Is GTA 6 Available on PC?

Currently, Rockstar has confirmed the launch platforms as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

As of now, the official release date for PC version of GTA 6 has not been announced, nor have the PC System Requirements been released. Therefore, PC players cannot currently determine the required processor, graphics card, or storage configuration based on official information.

Q4: Does the GTA 6 Physical Edition include a physical disc?

No. Rockstar has confirmed that the physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI will be a Code-in-Box, containing a digital download code instead of a traditional game disc.

The physical Standard Edition is expected to begin shipping to retailers or offering pickup starting November 12, 2026. Players can redeem the game using the code provided by their platform.

Currently, Rockstar confirms that only the Standard Edition will be available in physical form; the Ultimate Edition will only be available digitally.

Q5: Can Standard Edition Players Upgrade to Ultimate Edition Later?

Yes. Standard Edition players can purchase Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately from the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store.

Physical edition players can also upgrade, but they will need to redeem a boxed download code first. After redeeming, you can purchase the upgrade content through the corresponding platform store.

Conclusion

In general, it is recommended that players confirm the pre-load time in advance, reserve sufficient storage space, and choose the appropriate version according to their needs.

Whether you are preparing to experience the full story or hoping to obtain the extra rewards of the Ultimate Edition, being prepared in advance will allow you to start your Vice City journey more smoothly when Grand Theft Auto VI is officially released.
