Dune Awakening Sandworms Guide: How To Avoid These Monsters?

Sandworms are the most terrifying monsters in Arrakis. They are huge, hundreds of meters tall, and move very fast in the sand. Shai-Hulud is called the dragon guarding spices in the original book. Their desert habitat in Arrakis is the only place where spices are produced.
In order to avoid the attacks of sandworms, the natives must learn to walk without rhythm, but in the game, any noise you make in the sand will become your death warrant. So how to avoid being attacked by sandworms?
What Are Sandworms?
In the original book, sandworms are terrible monsters entrenched in the desert. Any action in the desert will attract their predation. The excrement of sandworm larvae is also the source of spices, so they represent both crisis and wealth.
But in the game, sandworms will not bring you any wealth. When they appear and lock you, you’d better beg you to hide in a safe area quickly, otherwise you will never survive.
Don’t even think about killing these giant monsters, and your guns won’t be able to penetrate their shells. More importantly, they have no health bars, and they are more like a natural threat, just like sandstorms. But the value of spices is far greater than Dune Awakening Solari, and for the greater good, players have to look for supplies in these dangerous areas.
Different areas have different numbers of sandworms:
- Hagga Basin: There are about ten sandworms wandering in this area.
- Deep Desert: There are over than fifty sandworms here, guarding the spices here.
- Coastal Regions: Smaller worms appear in shallower sand or rocky areas.
What Attracts Sandworms?
Sandworms need to prey on any prey in the sand. They have no eyes and can only rely on the vibrations on the surface of the sand to determine their location. Therefore, any movement you make in the sand may attract them.
- The sound of the player moving on the sand
- The sound of any vehicle
- The sound of collecting resources
- The sound of combat
- Rhythmic movement and patterns
- Shield generators that can generate vibrations
- Thumpers specifically designed to attract sandworms
The above sounds will attract curious sandworms to you. As you pass through these dangerous areas, a vibration meter will appear on the screen, which represents the probability of attracting sandworms. When it turns completely messy red, it’s too late.
What Happens If You Are Attacked By Sandworms?
To be honest, being attacked by these monsters in the game is quite exciting. Many players may have fantasies of being swallowed by sandworms, and it’s not bad to experience it once in the game. This is provided that you don’t carry any equipment or vehicles.
Once you encounter these guys when you are fully armed, it’s not a wonderful experience. If you are attacked and swallowed by these guys, all your resources, weapons, equipment, and vehicles will disappear, and these are worth tens of thousands of Dune Awakening Solari will never come back.
In a normal situation, when your character dies in the wild, you can return to the location where the character died and recycle your resources. But once you are eaten by them, your resources are gone forever.
If you are riding a Sandbike when you are eaten by a sandworm for the first time, you will have a chance to recycle your car, but everything else will be gone. After the second time, you will only get a worm tooth. It can be used to make a knife that is slightly stronger than the original dagger, but it is completely a piece of fashion garbage.
So most of the time, you have to be prepared for a sandworm attack. After you build a base, place a Respawn Beacon in it. Your enemies cannot enter your base, and other players can only enter with your permission, and you won‘t be dehydrated there.
After you are eaten by a sandworm, you will lose all your items. Therefore, the base is your safest place to respawn. You must prepare a spare set of clothes, weapons and tools. This way you don’t have to start from scratch, otherwise you have to scavenge for materials with your bare hands. Even if you plan to move to the next area, you can keep some of the most basic equipment in here.
How To Avoid Sandworms?
Most players still want to avoid sandworm attacks as much as possible. The best way is to avoid these dangerous areas.
- Walk on rocky ground: Rocky areas are safe areas in the desert. Sandworms cannot get close to you on these surfaces. If you are attacked, you only have a few seconds to act.
- Plan your route: When crossing open sand, be sure to move quickly. Plan your route and minimize the time you stay in dangerous areas.
- Crouch to reduce vibration: Crouching or moving slowly can reduce vibration and temporarily reduce the risk of attracting worms.
- Use Thumpers: Thumpers can produce rhythmic vibrations to attract sandworms to other areas.
- Grapple Hook: If you can use a Grapple Hook, you can use a grappling hook to quickly reach a safe area.
- Avoid using shields: The vibrations generated by shields will attract sandworms.
Rewards In Sandworm Areas
Although sandworms will not bring you any rewards, the areas where they are active are full of various spices and high-level materials. As long as you don’t die, you will definitely be able to earn a lot of Dune Awakening Solari.
In addition, some players are talking about riding sandworms. After all, this is a classic scene in the original work, but this function has not been added to the game yet, so you guys should not take the risk of trying it.
