Diablo 4 Season 14 The Pit of Artificers Ultimate Guide: Glyph Leveling, Tier 150 Push & Speedrun Strategies

Category: Diablo 4 Posted: Aug 01, 2026 Views: 22

The Pit of Artificers (also known as The Pit) is a timed challenge dungeon in Diablo 4 Season 14 endgame, specifically designed to upgrade the Paragon Glyph. Similar to Rifts in Diablo 3, it features a complete difficulty progression from level 1 to 150, making it the ultimate testing ground for your character's survivability and damage output.

Unlike Nightmare Dungeons, The Pit of Artificers lacks complex affixes and special altars for shortcuts. You'll face pure monsters, timers, and bosses that require quick kills.

How to Access?

To unlock The Pit of Artificers in Diablo 4, players must first complete Hellish Descent questline. On Eternal servers, this usually requires reaching level 70.

After successfully unlocking, you can find Artificer's Obelisk in major city. Consuming Runeshards unlocks specific tiers of the challenge. Runeshards can be reliably obtained from Nightmare Dungeons, Helltide, or Tree of Whispers.

Initially, you can only choose lower The Pit tiers. However, as you successfully complete the timed challenge, higher tiers will gradually unlock, and tier progress is shared among all characters in the same mode.

Time Mechanism

Note that each The Pit challenge in Diablo 4 has a 10-minute countdown. You must kill a sufficient number of monsters within this time, summon the boss, and defeat it within the remaining time to qualify for rewards and unlock new tiers.

If you have time remaining after completing the kill quest, it not only allows you to complete the level but also grants additional tier jump benefits.

For example, if you have 4 to 6 minutes remaining after defeating the boss, you can unlock the next 3 tiers at once; if you have more than 6 minutes remaining, you can unlock 5 tiers at once.

This is the key technique for quickly climbing to the top of 150 tiers in Season 14. So when you feel comfortable on a current tier, try to compress your time as much as possible and use this mechanism to skip intermediate tiers.

Main Rewards

After completing The Pit of Artificers, you will receive several core rewards.

First and foremost is Glyph upgrade opportunity - three by default, but if you don't die in normal combat, you will receive an additional bonus opportunity, for a maximum of four upgrade attempts.

Additionally, depending on the tier you clear, the game will also drop several Ancestral Legendary items and a certain number of Murmuring Obols (used for gambling).

However, there's a common misconception players should be aware of: If your goal is Masterworking materials (like Obducite), then ignore Diablo 4 Season 14, The Pit of Artificers. You need to focus your efforts on Nightmare Dungeons, Kurast Undercity, and Helltide to potentially obtain Masterworking materials.

If you want to enhance your Diablo 4 items, don't repeatedly farm The Pit; you're using the wrong approach.

Glyph Upgrade Logic

After each playthrough, you can choose any Glyph that isn't at its maximum level to upgrade. However, the success rate and the level gained depend on the difference between the number of floors you cleared in The Pit of Artificers and the current level of the chosen Glyph.

Of course, the higher the floor you cleared compared to Glyph's level, the higher your upgrade success rate. There's also a mechanism for rapid level progression, similar to the floor-skipping mechanism mentioned earlier.

Specifically, if your completed level is at least ten levels higher than the current Glyph's level, every upgrade attempt will be guaranteed to succeed; there is no chance of failure.

If the difference is even greater, a single upgrade attempt may even directly raise the level of multiple Glyphs, achieving the highly efficient benefit of completing the level in one go and leveling up several times.

Therefore, the most reasonable strategy is to first use your established build to consistently speedrun the highest level of The Pit in Diablo 4, and then use this high level to upgrade all the lower-level Glyphs one by one. This method saves a significant amount of time compared to progressing level by level.

Speedrunning Tips

Even if we fully understand the mechanics of The Pit of Artificers, to complete it quickly and reliably, we still need to grasp a few key points.

First, prioritize dealing with elite monster groups, because their ability to fill the boss summoning progress bar far exceeds that of ordinary monsters. Therefore, actively seeking out and gathering elite monsters is more efficient than aimlessly clearing ordinary monsters in The Pit.

Second, cultivate the habit of attacking while moving. Use area-of-effect skills to clear monsters along the way while running, avoiding the need to turn back to finish them off and reducing wasted movement.

Third, always prioritize survival. Dying not only wastes a few seconds of resurrection time but also directly deducts a valuable Glyph upgrade attempt, which is often more painful than losing a few seconds of damage output.

Remember to ensure your armor and resistances are adequate, and carry at least one layer of defensive gear. This may make progressing through The Pit easier than simply stacking damage.

Finally, make good use of the 10-minute time limit for skipping levels. When your character's strength far exceeds the current level, deliberately compressing your completion time to over 6 minutes will allow you to reach the truly challenging areas of The Pit of Artificers as quickly as possible.

Additionally, if you encounter any bottlenecks during your speedrun, you can buy Diablo 4 The Pit of Artificers carry run service from IGGM.com to get more Glyph upgrades.

In Diablo 4 Season 14, The Pit of Artificers, every second tests your precision in controlling your character. Good luck conquering level 150!
