Diablo 4 Season 11 Damage Scaling Guide (Paladin Example) | How to Maximize DPS with Attributes, Aspects & Gear?

Category: Diablo 4 Posted: Jan 07, 2026 Views: 3530

When playing and leveling up a Diablo 4 character, regardless of your chosen class, you must consider multiple aspects - though most players are probably more concerned with increasing damage, especially when entering higher difficulty levels.

In terms of specific methods, you can utilize gear, seasonal powers, or other mechanisms to increase your final damage output. Fundamentally, these methods mostly increase damage through multiplicative bonuses.

Therefore, if you're not a seasoned Diablo 4 player, your first focus should be on the specific effects of DPS-related affixes on your gear. For example, a damage increase of x times is usually better than an x% increase.

Secondly, you need to craft builds that focus on increasing damage. Skills and gear, no matter how powerful, are only effective individually; you need to combine them through builds to achieve a synergistic effect.

Considering that other classes have already gone through at least 4-5 seasons, we will use the newly introduced Paladin as an example, based on the above points, to introduce specific strategies for maximizing character DPS in Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Season 11 Damage Scaling Guide (Paladin Example) | How to Maximize DPS with Attributes, Aspects & Gear?

Attribute Selection

In Diablo 4, Strength, Intelligence, Willpower, and Dexterity are basic attributes applicable to all classes, providing general defensive bonuses and class-specific offensive bonuses.

For Paladin, the first attribute to focus on is Strength. It not only increases your main damage attribute but also increases damage by providing armor, sometimes resulting in double or even triple bonuses from attribute increases.

In addition, each piece of gear also has its own attribute enhancement effects, and you can further enhance the damage affixes of your gear by imprinting Legendary Aspects onto it.

Adding Legendary Aspects

Legendary Aspects are a unique type of affix in the game. They can exist as inherent attributes of legendary items, or they can be stored in Codex of Power to be imprinted onto rare gear, upgrading that gear to legendary status.

Therefore, if you want to increase your DPS, be sure to check your Legendary Aspects and replace them promptly when you obtain better gear, ensuring you are using powerful and appropriate options.

If you are adding Legendary Aspects to your gear through imprinting, you need to ensure you have enough Diablo 4 gold reserves, as the consumption will be significant if you plan to imprint multiple times.

Based on Paladin example, let's first look at Aspect of Celestial Strife. It allows you to gain a 1.5-2.5% increase in vulnerability damage after a kill in Arbiter form, stacking up to 75-125%.

More importantly, if you add it to your 2H weapon or amulet, the power is further increased by 100% and 50% respectively. Combined with the gear's original effects, the final damage multiplier will reach a surprisingly high level.

Based on this, we recommend pairing it with Aspect of Holy Punishment. This aspect increases your holy and fire damage by 50-70%, and also has the same bonus effect on 2H weapons and amulets. Combined, your final damage will be increased by at least 95 times.

Furthermore, you need to know where to place these Legendary Aspects, as 2H weapons or amulets provide higher attribute bonuses depending on the equipment slot you choose.

How to obtain Legendary Aspects?

Legendary Aspects are obtained by finding legendary items, taking them to Blacksmith to be salvaged, after which they are added to Codex of Power and can be imprinted onto other gear an unlimited number of times.

Currently, the main ways to obtain legendary items include:

  • Helltides
  • The Pit
  • Nightmare Dungeons
  • Infernal Hordes
  • Kurast Undercity
  • Gambling with Murmuring Obols at Purveyor of Curiosities

Sometimes you can also unlock specific basic versions of certain Legendary Aspects by completing certain dungeons for the first time, but then you need to upgrade them by salvaging gear.

Improving gear affixes

Legendary Aspects can be seen as an additional way to improve gear, but enhancing the effects of the gear's original affixes is also important - this is usually done through Tempering and Masterworking, and in Season 11 they perform even better than before.

In addition, Season 11 also added a new Sanctification mechanism as the ultimate way to upgrade your gear. It can optimize the effects of existing affixes, add new Sanctification affixes, or increase the gear's own level.

To be honest, the fact that Sanctification results are random and irreversible is quite tricky, meaning it can take a long time to get the desired Sanctification attribute improvements.

However, if you truly have enough patience and resources to try, this is indeed a great opportunity to improve your DPS.

Upgrading your glyphs

After your character reaches the maximum level, you can further enhance your character by unlocking Paragon nodes and upgrading glyphs.

Glyphs, when socketed into special slots on Paragon board, provide different bonus effects based on the number of activated squares within their radius, including reliable damage increases.

More importantly, you will need to upgrade your glyphs by clearing The Pit. They will provide a legendary bonus after reaching level 46, which has its own independent damage multiplier.

Basically, as long as your build is effective, clearing The Pit above level 46 is easily achievable, especially if you are already familiar with the dungeon's mechanics.

That's all for this guide. Although we used Paladin as an example, these methods can be adapted to other classes with minor adjustments. If you are not satisfied with your current character's DPS, please follow our suggestions to further improve it!
