Diablo 4 Season 15 brings back the long-awaited Season Power, Soul Splinters. This new season introduces many pieces of equipment and mechanics from Diablo III, making it feel like a nostalgic throwback season.
The mechanics of Soul Splinters are also more similar to Soul Shards from Diablo 3 Season 25, although their drawbacks are more significant. Let's take a look at what they do and rank them based on how much they can improve different builds.

Soul Splinters Basic Rules
There are 32 Soul Splinters in total, but they only come in 8 distinct effect types. The reason there are 32 is that each type of Soul Splinter comes in four different rarities. From the lowest to the highest rarity, their base values increase significantly.
The lowest-rarity Soul Splinters are Magic-quality items. They all provide some form of resistance as a base attribute. As the rarity increases, the strength of their bonuses rises substantially.
The 8 Soul Splinters categorized by their actual effects are as follows:
- Splinter of Anguish
- Splinter of Sin
- Splinter of Lies
- Splinter of the Black
- Soulstone Splinter of Pain
- Splinter of the Mother
- Splinter of Hellfire
- Splinter of Damnation
You can socket them into Rings or an Amulet, which means you can equip up to three Soul Splinters at once. However, there is one exception: Leoric's Crown.
Its unique effect allows it to be treated as a piece of jewelry, and the effects of any gems socketed into it are increased by 100%.
This means that if you socket a Soul Splinter into this helm, its beneficial effect can be amplified to an extraordinary degree.
However, you cannot socket two identical Soul Splinters into your equipment to stack their effects. Although the system allows you to socket them, the game will prioritize the one with the stronger effect, while the other will have no effect at all.

Soul Splinters Rank
Tier S
Splinter of Hellfire
You can gain 100% increased damage, but in exchange, you cannot deal Critical Strikes. It is not suitable for every build, but it is almost tailor-made for DoT builds.
Bleed, Poison, and Burning cannot Critical Strike in the first place, so the inability to land Critical Strikes has no impact on them, while the 100% increased damage provides a direct and massive boost.
Alternatively, you can pair it with equipment such as Ring of Red Furor or Rod of Kepeleke, which can guarantee Critical Strikes, allowing you to retain the benefits of Critical Strikes while effectively gaining the enormous 100% damage increase for free.
Splinter of Anguish
You gain 35% Attack Speed and 35% Critical Strike Chance, but your Primary Resource costs increase by 30%.
A 35% Critical Strike Chance bonus from a single item slot is difficult to match elsewhere, while 35% Attack Speed is enough to help many builds comfortably reach their attack speed thresholds.
The drawback can be offset by adjusting your equipment affixes. Overall, this is a highly versatile and powerful Splinter that addresses key stat deficiencies for many builds, with benefits that far outweigh its drawback.
Splinter of the Mother
You gain Unhindered status, preventing movement from being slowed. Touching an enemy makes them Vulnerable for 10 seconds, but after touching 250 enemies, you become Stunned.
This is an excellent source of Vulnerable. For many classes or builds that struggle to apply Vulnerable consistently, this Splinter can solve the problem.
Its Stun drawback can be easily countered with Unstoppable skills, making it highly practical, especially for builds that rely on close-range combat or frequent movement.
Tier A
Splinter of Lies
It increases Gold drop rates and crafting material drop rates by 25%, while also increasing experience gains by 25%.
However, your character is permanently Weakened and Vulnerable. Weakened reduces the damage you deal by approximately 10% to 20%, while Vulnerable causes you to take 20% more damage.
This is a purely farming-oriented Soul Splinter. It is not suitable for pushing high-tier content or fighting powerful Bosses.
You can pair it with Splinter of Damnation and increase the monster difficulty at lower Torment levels to maximize drop and experience efficiency, allowing you to level up faster.
Splinter of Damnation
After you kill an Elite Pack, your Monster Power increases by 1 for 25 seconds. Higher Monster Power provides more experience and better drops.
This is also a farming-oriented Splinter. It can be paired with Splinter of Lies to further amplify drops such as crafting materials and Gold.
Its buff lasts for a relatively long time, and the stacks can be maintained during sustained combat, making it particularly effective for efficiently farming content in succession.
You can also join IGGM Diablo 4 Facebook Group, where there are frequent raffles where you can obtain materials like Lair Keys or Corrupted Roots to aid your farming.
Splinter of Pain
You gain a massive 40% Damage Reduction, but your Movement Speed is slightly reduced.
This is a purely defensive Splinter. In high-difficulty content or Hardcore Mode, survivability is essential for pushing into higher tiers.
Giving up a small amount of Movement Speed in exchange for as much as 40% Damage Reduction is an extremely valuable trade. It can help you survive at higher Torment levels before your gear is fully optimized, allowing you to access better drops.
Tier B
Splinter of Sin
It increases your maximum Life by 40%, but reduces your Primary Resource maximum by 30%.
The effect of this Splinter looks powerful at first, but its practical applications may be somewhat limited. Testing indicates that its Life bonus is calculated additively, making it difficult to achieve the extreme Life totals sought by certain builds.
The reduction to your resource pool can have a significant impact on classes that rely on large resource reserves for burst damage. However, for builds that can alleviate resource pressure or already have exceptionally strong resource management, it may serve as an alternative way to improve survivability. Its overall usage is not expected to be particularly high.
Splinter of the Black Soulstone
Its effect grants 5% increased damage for every monster you kill. The effect lasts for 15 seconds before resetting, while the drawback is a slight increase in the damage you take.
This is a clear-speed-oriented damage Splinter that can provide a considerable damage boost when clearing large numbers of monsters. However, its effect cannot be refreshed and always resets after 15 seconds, while it provides almost no benefit against a single-target Boss.
As a result, it is better suited to densely populated environments such as Helltides, while its value is limited when pushing high-tier The Pit content or fighting Bosses. It is more of a situational choice than a broadly useful option.
That concludes the effects and power ranking of Diablo 4 Season 15 Soul Splinters. The tier S Soul Splinters may be capable of doubling your build's damage, and you can also equip Mythic Leoric's Crown when needed to greatly amplify their effects.
In Diablo 4 Season 15, Soul Splinters are account-bound and untradeable, but Leoric's Crown is tradable. If you need other materials or equipment, you can buy Diablo 4 items at IGGM.com. You can easily increase your build strength.
