Snow is Back! ARC Raiders Cold Snap Officially Returns Feb 10: Double Trial Points & Rare Blueprints Await You!

Late last year, shortly after winter arrived, ARC Raiders released a major update called Cold Snap, the most notable feature of which was the eponymous limited-time map condition, which introduced a special frostbite mechanic and heavy snowfall.
Unfortunately, although Cold Snap was very popular, as a limited-time update it ended on January 13th, and shortly after, the game released a new limited-time update for January, Headwinds.
The new map condition introduced by this update, Bird City, was also good, but overall less playable than Cold Snap, and it's currently unclear when February update will be released.
Therefore, to satisfy players, the development team recently announced that Cold Snap will return on February 10th! Allowing you to experience the power of the blizzard in Rustbelt again before the end of winter!
Below, we will provide you with a detailed introduction to this return plan, as well as more possible ARC Raiders map condition update schedules.

Cold Snap return schedule
It has been confirmed that this map condition will return to the game on February 10th, but the end date has not yet been announced. Therefore, some players hope and predict that Cold Snap will become one of the permanent rotating content, like Night Raid.
If the game releases an official announcement for this return, it may include the specific schedule for Cold Snap; otherwise, it may not be clarified until February Shrouded Sky update is released.
How to play Cold Snap?
As a map condition, Cold Snap means that heavy snow or even blizzards will appear on the current map, leading to reduced visibility, making it difficult to scout for enemies, and significantly limiting your movement speed and agility.
In addition, the overall temperature on the map will drop, and you must return indoors to warm up periodically, otherwise your health will continuously decrease due to frostbite.
Although very dangerous, Cold Snap, like other limited-time map events, offers a higher chance of finding high-level loot, including even rarer ARC Raiders blueprints, and also provides double trial points.
It's worth noting that when Cold Snap was released as a complete update, the game also introduced a temporary resource called Candleberries through a limited-time event, which you could collect to redeem rewards. It is currently unclear whether this gameplay will return as well.
Why is Cold Snap returning?
When Cold Snap map condition was first released, it was popular with players due to its realistic seasonal features, interesting special mechanics, and generous rewards. Unfortunately, it was only available for about a month before being taken offline.
Perhaps Cold Snap wasn't originally good enough to be truly unforgettable for everyone, but its short lifespan made its absence all the more regrettable. Therefore, after January 13th, there were many voices in the community expressing nostalgia for Cold Snap.
On the other hand, although ARC Raiders quickly released a new update, Headwinds, on January 27th, as a mini-update its content was very limited, especially the new map event Bird City, which had relatively average challenge and loot rewards.
Therefore, during the gap before the next update, bringing back Cold Snap would not only satisfy players' nostalgia but also complement other regular conditions, preventing player loss before the release of Shrouded Sky.
What are players' thoughts on this?
Undoubtedly, most ARC Raiders fans welcome this, as everyone hasn't had enough time playing in the snow! However, some players have expressed concerns.
They don't object to Cold Snap's return, but they worry that the developers will use this as an excuse to shortchange players in February update, because Escalation roadmap clearly states that Shrouded Sky will introduce new map conditions.
This concern is understandable, but it's a bit of an overreaction. Normally, a popular new game like ARC Raiders wouldn't need to sabotage its own future with such a lazy approach.
More importantly, ARC Raiders' powerful new competitor, the new Marathon series game, will be released in March this year and is expected to compete with Shrouded Sky. If ARC Raiders were to mislead players at this time, it would be tantamount to suicide.
Another perspective is that ARC Raiders' decision to quickly take Cold Snap offline and then bring it back seems somewhat inexplicable, as it could have simply been kept due to its high popularity.
Perhaps ARC Raiders didn't do this initially because they didn't want Cold Snap to overshadow Headwinds, but who knew the latter wouldn't be as popular as expected?
Will Cold Snap become a permanent part of the lineup?
Currently, there are more than ten map conditions confirmed to be in ARC Raiders' permanent rotation. Theoretically, adding Cold Snap is entirely feasible.
However, before an official announcement is made, there's another possibility: Cold Snap could return as a special event, appearing periodically in the game during the next winter or at other special times.
This rotation mechanism would clearly help maintain Cold Snap's popularity for longer and create a new unique feature for ARC Raiders. However, the final arrangement will depend on the game's actual needs.
More map condition update plans
While Cold Snap update was still underway, some players discovered, through tricks like changing time settings, that ARC Raiders might introduce a new map event called Toxic Swamps, but January update didn't include this content.
In fact, the developers haven't officially commented on Toxic Swamps, so its absence is understandable, as everything is just speculation from the players.
However, considering the larger scale of February Shrouded Sky update, it's reasonable to assume that Toxic Swamps might appear in mid-to-late February. But don't be too surprised if ARC Raiders is delayed again.
Additionally, March and April updates will also bring new map events. While their content and whether they are limited-time or permanent features are still unclear, it's certain that ARC Raiders will become richer and more fun!
That's all the information for this update. If you temporarily stopped playing ARC Raiders because of the end of Cold Snap, you can now return!
