WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Ultimate Skinning Guide | The Secret to Faster Raid Progression and Maximum Gold Farming Efficiency!
Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Mar 02, 2026 Views: 1449
While the profession itself has a more casual gameplay mechanic, it's an essential part of improving combat efficiency and experiencing the full game content in TBC Classic Anniversary.
Different professions allow you to craft specific items in different ways. Some items are suitable for selling, while others are best equipped on your character to increase combat power or serve as combat supplies.
Most of the time, each class has its own suitable profession options, but if you want the best benefits for faster raid progression, skinning is the preferred choice.
Below, we'll introduce the information you need to know about playing and upgrading your skinning skill in WoW TBC Anniversary.

Skinning profession overview
Skinning is a gathering profession. The main gameplay involves using Skinning Knife, after obtaining it, to remove leather, hides, and scales from beast and dragonkin corpses. These materials can be crafted into gear, armor kits, and drums.
Furthermore, skinning corpses doesn't necessarily require you to kill the monsters yourself. You can skin them if your teammates allow it, or if you encounter monster corpses in the wild.
Alternatively, if you're in dire need of gold, you can prioritize selling the materials you obtain to earn more WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold to meet your other needs.
If your secondary profession is leatherworking, you can directly use the materials you obtain for crafting without needing help from others, thus further conserving gold.
If you choose herbalism or mining as your secondary profession, you can farm skinning materials while gathering herbs or minerals, making the game even more efficient.
How to learn skinning?
All WoW TBC Classic Anniversary professions require finding the corresponding trainer and consuming gold to learn and continuously upgrade the profession skill.
However, the available trainers depend on your skinning level. Trainers for levels 1-300 are located in The Exodar and Silvermoon City:
- Alliance: Gurf, Stillpine Hold, Azuremyst Isle, /way 44.6 23.6
- Alliance: Remere, Trader's Tier, The Exodar, /way 66.2 74.2
- Horde: Mathreyn, near Silvermoon Flight Point, Eversong Woods (/way 53.8 51.2)
- Horde: Tyn, Walk of Elders, Silvermoon City, /way 85.0 78.8
Trains available after level 300 are all in Outlands:
- Alliance: Jelena Nightsky, Honor Hold, Hellfire Peninsula, /way 54.4 63.2
- Horde: Moorutu, Thrallmar, Hellfire Peninsula, /way 56.2 38.6
- Neutral: Seymour, Shattrath, /way 63.4 65.5
After that, you can obtain a Skinning Knife from any trade and leatherworking supplies vendor, or trade with High Priest Thekal in Zul'Gurub for a Zulian Slicer to begin your skinning journey.
How to increase your skinning level?
To gain more benefits, you need to continuously upgrade your profession skill. While it can be slowly increased during character leveling, a better way is to farm specific monsters in the various zones of Outlands:
Hellfire Peninsula:
- Helboars
- Ravagers
Zangarmarsh:
- Mire Hydra
- Young Sporebat
- Marshfang Ripper
- Sporebat
- Bloodthirsty Marshfang
- Fenclaw Thrasher
- Greater Sporebat
- Marshfang Slicer
Terokkar Forest:
- Dampscale Basilisk
- Timber Worg
- Ironspine Petrifier
- Ironspine Chomper
- Dampscale Devourer
- Warp Stalker
Nagrand:
- Clefthoof
- Talbuk Stag
- Clefthoof Bull
- Talbuk Thorngrazer
Blade's Edge Mountains:
- Grovestalker Lynx
- Fey Drake
- Bladewing Bloodletter
- Thunderlord Dire Wolf
- Lesser Nether Drake
Of course, while farming these monsters, you'll not only improve your skills, but you'll also obtain a large amount of more valuable materials, which are worthwhile whether you sell them or keep them to craft other items.
Optimal leveling route
To more easily find dense beast spawn locations early on, we recommend Alliance players start with Dun Morogh, while Horde players start their journey with Durotar.
While moving within the current area, focus on skinning each beast you kill, and try to follow a simple circular route. Also, before starting farming, make sure the level of the beasts you kill is close to your character's level.
In the early stages, skinning will level up more smoothly if you follow a fixed farming route instead of staying in the same place.
If you are an Alliance player, you can follow Dun Morogh. Dun Morogh's circular route moves between Coldridge Valley and the surrounding mountains.
If you're belong to Horde, you can use Razor Hill and Sen'jin Village as the core of your circular route, focusing on scorpions, behemoths, and raptors for consistent skill upgrades.
The key to efficient leveling is constant movement, ensuring monsters continuously spawn behind you as you progress, allowing for uninterrupted farming through the circular route.
Compared to open-world routes, farming in dungeons is much more fast-paced. For example, Wailing Caverns has large concentrations of beasts.
Note that if you plan to solo dungeons, it's best to play a class with strong AoE damage; otherwise, grouping up is more efficient and safer.
The next recommended dungeon is Razorfen Kraul. Upon entering, a large number of Boolean beasts immediately spawn on the left side, allowing you to maintain continuous skin farming almost instantly.
When farming in Aldman, enter through the back door. This allows you to gather the bats near the entrance into a dense swarm, enabling you to utilize their efficient area-of-effect attacks for substantial skinning profits.
The bats' positioning facilitates quick mob pulling, and the nearby scorpions also provide additional leather. After clearing the entrance area, simply reset the instance and repeat the above steps to farm again.
The final recommended dungeon is Temple of Atal'Hakkar. Here, focus on specific areas with abundant skinningable monsters, such as those with hordes of dragons and otters. You may also obtain sellable junk items and silver by killing these monsters.
This concludes our guide on learning and leveling your skinning skill in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary and using it to generate profits. We hope this helps improve your gaming experience!
