MapleStory Classic World recently released its v.1.1.0 update, the first major version update since the game's grand launch.
This update covers economic management, monster adjustments, crafting skills, class balance, and client optimizations, addressing several issues raised by players. The changes will affect the trading environment, leveling efficiency, and character progression experience.
Outstanding Debt Restrictions Strengthened
v.1.1.0 adds a pickup restriction to the outstanding debt system: indebted players can no longer pick up mesos and items dropped by other players, but can still obtain drops from monsters they defeat, as well as some Party Quest items.
This adjustment primarily aims to close a loophole in RMT. Previously, mesos sellers could drop gold on the map, allowing indebted players to pick them up and quickly pay off their debts. After the new rules are implemented, indebted players can only gradually repay their debts through mesos and items obtained from defeating monsters.
However, coupons and passes required for KPQ can still be dropped and picked up normally. This is quite important in actual gameplay: the quest requires the team to collect a precise number of passes, and if an indebted player is completely unable to obtain passes dropped by teammates, the entire team may be forced to reset.
Victoria Island Monster Adjustments
This update made two parallel adjustments to the monster ecosystem on Victoria Island.
First, the HP of Copper Drake, Tortie, Clang, and Drake has been reduced. This adjustment is expected to improve the kill efficiency of these monsters per unit time, especially directly improving the leveling experience for Warrior classes at mid-levels.
Simultaneously, some items have been added to the monster loot pool on Victoria Island. In the economic environment of MSCW, the supply of high-value scrolls such as Glove for Attack has been consistently tight; expanding the loot pool is expected to increase the production channels for rare resources without directly interfering with the market.
However, the reduced monster HP may further concentrate player flow in already crowded training maps like Copper Drake and Drake. Whether the new drops will be enough to divert some players to other maps remains to be seen and requires observation of subsequent community feedback.
Woodcrafting and Whisper Adjustments: Improved Crafting Efficiency, Limited Advertising
v.1.1.0 optimizes the arrow conversion recipes in Woodcrafting Rank 1. Whether it's arrow for bow or arrow for crossbow, the yield and material consumption for each conversion have increased tenfold, while the conversion ratio remains at 2:1.
This means players can craft arrows in batches with fewer operations, providing Archers with more convenient daily supplies.
Whisper feature now has a level restriction; characters must reach Level 10 to send private messages. This restriction targets a clear problem - numerous bots using low-level characters to send mass advertising messages, continuously harassing normal players.
Binding sending permissions to Level 10, while not completely eliminating this behavior, increases the cost of creating multiple bot accounts. For truly new players, level 10 is quickly achievable with normal progression, so the negative impact on the actual experience is relatively limited.
Citizenship Adjustment: Reduced Contribution Requirements for Rank 4-10
Citizenship system received an adjustment in v.1.1.0 that affects long-term progression: the contribution requirements for Rank 4 to Rank 10 have been reduced.
The system unlocks from Level 12 onwards. Players accumulate contribution points through daily errands and weekly donations on the community board, gradually increasing their Citizenship Rank in Henesys or Kerning City, unlocking corresponding shop discounts and item acquisition privileges.
Previously, some players reported that the progression after Rank 4 was too slow, not matching the pace of character level and equipment growth. This adjustment lowers the progression threshold for mid-to-high-rank citizenship levels, allowing players to unlock subsequent rewards more smoothly.
As Citizenship Rank increases, the need for equipment acquisition and upgrades will also gradually increase. For players who wish to accelerate their character progression, choosing to buy MSCW mesos provides more financial support for future character development.
Skill Adjustments
Archer and Wizard Skill Values Increased
MS Classic World v.1.1.0 includes minor buffs to Archer, Fire/Poison Wizard, and Ice/Lightning Wizard.
Archer's Focus hit rate bonus has been increased from 1-20 to 5-25; the Fire/Poison Wizard's Poison Breath damage has been increased from 50-80 to 60-90, and an issue where damage wasn't dealt correctly at Lv.10 has been fixed. The Ice/Lightning Wizard's Thunder Bolt damage has been increased from 40-70 to 50-80.
Warrior Skill Range and HP Absorption Effect Fixes
Warrior changes primarily focus on skill fixes. The effective range of Rush at Lv.10 has been increased from 130 to 150, while the HP absorption cap for Final Attack: Spear and Final Attack: Polearm has been uniformly adjusted to 15% of the character's maximum HP.
While this doesn't directly increase Warrior's damage output, Rush range fix helps improve the movement and crowd control experience for Fighter, Page, and Spearman.
Client and System Fixes
In addition to the above changes, v.1.1.0 also fixes several issues affecting gameplay, including disconnections at the character selection screen, disconnections after switching channels after using Final Attack, and Free Market crashes.
Furthermore, the incorrect map type in Mushroom Garden has been corrected, and Store Permit and Lie Detector now function correctly.
Issues such as abnormal Cash Shop preview display, missing icons for some Halloween Cash Items, and low weapon DEF values for Mark of the Beta equipment have also been resolved, further improving game stability and item display experience.
Overall, MapleStory Classic World v.1.1.0 focuses more on optimizing existing systems and improving the player experience, rather than adding a large amount of new content. With adjustments made to economic controls, class balance, and leveling efficiency, the subsequent game environment and player progression pace deserve continued attention.
