The official price of GTA 6 has been announced, along with the differences between Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition. Ultimate Edition includes a wealth of exclusive content, some of which even touches on core game mechanics.

While the developer has released a wealth of information, not all of it will be welcomed equally - particularly for fans who cherish physical collections, some of the news may prove disappointing. Let us now walk through the key details surrounding pre-orders for GTA 6.

GTA 6 Official Price and Edition Details Announced | Ultimate Edition Raises Concerns Over Locked Content

Pricing and Editions

Speculation over the official pricing of GTA 6 has persisted for months, but that debate has now been settled:

  • Standard Edition: $80
  • Ultimate Edition: $100

Pre-orders commence after June 25, and those who opt for Standard Edition can later upgrade to Ultimate Edition at any time (for an additional fee). Industry analysts had previously forecast that Standard Edition could reach as high as $100, so the $80 figure - though a record high for the franchise - still falls within the expected range for a portion of the player base.

For collectors who prize physical discs, however, there is a bitter pill to swallow: the retail boxed version of GTA 6 will no longer include a game disc. Instead, the case will contain only a redemption code. This move may well reshape the future of physical game packaging, but the first to feel the headache will undoubtedly be brick-and-mortar game retailers.

Release Date

GTA VI is set to launch officially on November 19 for Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Digital pre-loading will begin on November 12. The studio has confirmed that at launch, the game will offer only the single-player experience; GTA Online will not be available simultaneously.

Players need not worry about this, as GTA V followed the same strategy - its multiplayer mode arrived only two weeks after the base game's debut. For GTA 6, the online component is expected to go live within a month of release. Those who digitally pre-order through the PlayStation Store will additionally receive one month of free GTA Online Plus membership.

Ultimate Edition Exclusive Content

According to the official GTA VI website, Ultimate Edition grants access to an array of exclusive high-end vehicles, weapons, apparel, and unique in-game features across various functions. These offerings are woven into different chapters of the character's story, with certain new items becoming unlockable only after specific story milestones. One such example is the exclusive vehicle, '95 Grotti Cheetah, which Standard Edition owners cannot obtain.

Exclusive Vehicles

  • '95 Grotti Cheetah: a retro sports car evoking the mid-90s styling.
  • Jason's Safehouse Vehicles: including Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest Kayak.
  • '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy: a capable off-road buggy.
  • Shitzu Squalo: a speedboat moored at Washington Beach, equipped with a weapons case and the ability to fish.
  • Modkit: Ganado Retro Build – a retro modification kit for Jason's pickup truck.

Exclusive Shops and Services

Some Ultimate Edition content appears to be entirely exclusive. In the published details, Ride Out Customs is accessible only to Ultimate Edition owners; it offers interior customisation for vehicles, premium wheel rims, and donk-style modifications.

Other exclusive establishments include:

  • Rideout Customs: vehicle modification.
  • One-Eyed Willie's: exterior vehicle styling.
  • Sara's Unisex Salon: adjusting the protagonists' hairstyles, facial hair, makeup, and manicures.
  • Stock 305: selling premium high-end streetwear.
  • Electric Fang Tattoo: offering over 50 exclusive tattoo designs.

Because the official language remains somewhat ambiguous, it is not yet clear whether these cosmetic customisation features are permanently locked behind Ultimate Edition or whether alternative shops will be available for Standard Edition players.

If those customisation options are indeed gated exclusively to Ultimate Edition, it will almost certainly provoke strong discontent among the community. The current wording leaves room for interpretation - there may still be other hair salons in the game for standard owners - but the situation remains decidedly murky.

Exclusive Gameplay and Areas

PTTYOUNGIN Illegal Goods Store is a gang stronghold that Ultimate Edition players can raid to obtain special items and contraband.

Classic Car Collection is a special commission mission in which players must locate and restore abandoned classic cars scattered across the game world.

Paradise Garage serves as the exclusive storage location for '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy; this garage is fully equipped with a weapons locker (for saving armaments) and a secure fencing site.

Ultimate Edition also includes exclusive weapon variants for both Jason and Lucía. This suggests that in GTA 6, each character will maintain their own separate arsenal, rather than sharing weapons across all protagonists as was the case in GTA V.

Pre-order Bonus

Anyone who pre-orders any edition of GTA 6 before November 20 will receive Vintage Vice City Pack, which contains:

  • '55 Vapid Stanier (retro sedan)
  • Ocean Beach Garage
  • Vintage-style outfits and hairstyles
  • Tommy Vercetti-Inspired Weapon Patterns/Skins

Why Ultimate Edition Raises Concerns?

Ultimate Edition undeniably offers a substantial amount of extra material - far from a perfunctory digital trinket pack. Nevertheless, the decision to lock actual in-game venues and functions - such as customisation garages, hair salons, tattoo parlours, and even storefronts - behind a paywall is troubling.

If a player does not purchase Ultimate Edition, will they simply encounter shopfronts in the game world that they cannot enter? That sense of seeing content without being able to interact with it would inevitably dampen enthusiasm.

Furthermore, many players question whether the studio has essentially carved out features that ought to have been part of the base experience, only to sell them back at a premium. Even if the final game is so vast that the absence of a few shops barely affects the overall experience, the practice itself remains debatable.

As one of the most eagerly awaited games in history, GTA VI's pricing strategy and edition segmentation will exert a profound influence on the entire industry. In terms of sheer content volume, the title may well justify its price tag, yet every player's financial circumstances and personal valuation differ.

Although GTA Online's release will be delayed, the wait is worthwhile considering the quality and scale of GTA 6. You can buy what you need at IGGM GTA 6 Store, as many players will be flocking there - they might be your allies or your enemies.
