  In fact, I can tell you now that Dune Awakening can be played alone. PvP mode of this game is high risk and high reward. And you can skip PvP entirely, but be aware that your progress in acquiring Dune Awakening Solari and other resources may be much slower than if you were to enter Danger Zone.

  First, let’s make one important point clear: this is a purely online game, with no dedicated offline single-player mode. Even if you choose to play solo, you will need to be connected to a server with other players at all times.

  For Resource Gathering

  The good news for solo players is that 95% of the main starting area, Hagga Basin (HB), is PvE. This means you can focus entirely on survival, crafting, base building, and questing without having to worry about the constant threat of other players.

  You can now harvest resources solo, but to be honest, it can be more laborious and time-consuming than gathering in a group. Especially if you’ve experienced the beta.

  It will take much longer to find all the necessary materials for crafting alone than it will to do it with friends. As a solo player, you will also have to wait for the best time to harvest resources more efficiently, unless you want to waste all your water on mining.

  Water is extremely important! Because later in the game, water isn’t just for your own survival, it can also be used to refine specific resources. So it’s definitely wise to split up to be more efficient.

  For Story Missions

  So, what about story missions? The good news is that the journey in Dune Awakening is definitely designed for solo play. Most of the missions you need to complete are dungeons, so even if you have a friend with you, they have to wait for you to get back!

  While teamwork does pay off for things like Eco Labs and Landsraad missions, we’re still unsure if these missions will get harder in later areas. Not to mention that for now, soloing these missions isn’t a problem at all, and we were even able to fully play through Imperial Testing Stations, which are high-stakes combat locations scattered across Arrakis.

  However, since each of the treasure chests in these missions can be picked up by multiple players, teaming up to take on them means you can get through the dungeons faster and get more loot. So, while you can do it alone, you’ll definitely benefit more from teamwork.

  

  For PvP

  As for PvP, it’s largely optional. You may come across small PvP hotspots in PvE areas, but you’ll usually be warned before entering. These are usually Shipwrecks sites scattered around the map.

  Each area usually has only one Shipwreck, and they’re mostly small, so you can get in and out quickly to get loot. But most of these resources and drops can also be found in other PvE areas around Hagga Basin. So if you really want to avoid PvP, there’s no need to go there.

  In contrast, the game’s endgame area, The Deep Desert, is sure to be a huge PvP area where players will compete for high-value resources like Spice.

  For Resource Competition

  Those large resource deposits? They’ll most likely be contested by groups, making it harder for you to collect them efficiently on your own.

  But interestingly, the developers have been saying that even The Deep Desert will have some PvE areas, especially in the initial stages when you’re just getting into the game.

  So we’re guessing that Hagga Basin is all PvE, with a few PvP areas, like the one around Shipwreck we mentioned earlier. The Deep Desert is the opposite, with a lot of PvP, but with some safe PvE areas.

  This means that if you really want to play, you can mostly avoid forced PvP by just sticking to those PvE areas. Also, if you need resources from The Deep Desert but want to avoid conflict, you can trade directly with other players!

  There’s a place called The Exchange in the game’s social hub where you can trade building materials and even blueprints.

  The Exchange will have a ton of player-sourced items like schematics, maps, weapons, raw materials, and even spices. This system means that even if you’re just a casual player, you’ll still have ways to get the resources you need without always having to venture out to the most dangerous areas.

  For The Endgame

  Ultimately, in the endgame phase of the game, you may need to join a guild or faction to make progress in certain areas. Alternatively, you may need to join a solo guild to get some faction-exclusive equipment or contribute to the objective of Landsraad.

  But the problem is that you need to play the game for at least 70 to 100 hours to reach the endgame stage. So, even if you are not interested in the more competitive endgame loop, you still have a lot to do before reaching that stage.

  In any case, if you want to play solo in Dune Awakening, it is definitely not a problem. As long as you master the skills and strategies, even single players in The Deep Desert can easily get started and get a completely different gaming experience.
