After months of waiting, Dune Awakening is set to receive its largest update to date on September 22 - a major milestone for console players eager to conquer Arrakis and for those looking forward to a true single-player experience.

Dune Awakening Update 1.5 will officially launch on PS5  and Xbox Series X|S, while Filmic Archive DLC will arrive, a complete Single-Player Mode will be added, and Book One storyline will reach its dramatic conclusion.

Filmic Archive DLC

The first major addition focuses on cosmetics and base-building content. Filmic Archive DLC will arrive on all platforms on September 22. If you are a fan of Denis Villeneuve's Dune films, this expansion brings iconic outfits and structures from Dune Part One and Part Two into the game.

Filmic Archive includes:

  • 73 Sardaukar building pieces
  • 17 Sardaukar decorations
  • Sardaukar Legionnaire heavy armor
  • Sardaukar Velites light armor; Sardaukar Averruncus stillsuit
  • Sardaukar Oathblade melee weapon
  • Sardaukar Benediction Disruptor ranged weapon
  • Sardaukar Kneel emotes
  • Sardaukar Blood Wipe emotes
  • Sardaukar Tactical Swatch themed swatch

In addition, this DLC also includes Filmic Sets, featuring the following movie-inspired gear:

  • Harkonnen Cataphract Armor
  • Atreides Hoplite Armor
  • Longhaul Stillsuit
  • Aegis of the Unwalked Path Armor
  • Caladan Stormcoat Outfit

Most outfits can be used as glamour overlays on armor as long as they belong to the same armor class type. This design is intended with PvP balance in mind, preventing players from appearing to wear fragile gear while actually using extremely durable tank builds.

Console Version

For consoles, Dune Awakening will officially arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 22. In terms of technical details, the game offers a Performance Mode that targets 60fps with upscaled 4K resolution.

On PS5 Pro, the game can run at native 60fps without relying on Frame Generation. Quality Mode targets 30fps while improving visual fidelity. The UI and controls have also been fully adapted for controller navigation.

For early access, Deluxe Edition is around $70, while Ultimate Edition is around $90, allowing players to enter the game five days early starting September 17. This is similar to the previous PC launch arrangement.

If you only plan to experience the single-player content, early access may not be essential. However, Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition usually include a Season Pass and future content, which still provides additional value.

The most exciting feature is cross-platform multiplayer. The official team has confirmed that cross-platform play will arrive after launch. Although it will not be available on day one, development is already underway, with the goal of allowing players on all platforms to share the sands of Arrakis. This may become one of the most positively received announcements since the game was revealed.

Chapter 4 and Single-Player Mode

Dune Awakening Chapter 4 and Single-Player

The official team stated that one of the most common requests from players since the PC launch has been the addition of a single-player mode. Now, the complete Single-Player Mode will finally arrive on September 22.

Single-Player Mode will simulate Landsraad system. In multiplayer, different factions compete for control of Landsraad and influence various policies.

In Single-Player Mode, the game will simulate the actions of rival players, allowing players to experience faction conflicts without needing active servers.

This could actually improve the experience because public servers often create one-sided situations where either Atreides or Harkonnen dominates. Single-player simulation can make weekly objectives feel more dynamic and realistic.

Secondly, Single-Player Mode will introduce Persistent Desert. Deep Desert will no longer constantly reset beneath your feet, and bases will not be removed.

Finally, Single-Player Mode will add Custom Difficulty Sliders. Players can adjust enemy health, gathering rates, XP gains, and even specific survival pressures.

These options will also become available on multiplayer private servers. At the same time, Book One storyline will reach its final chapter. Players who enter the game on September 22 will be able to experience the complete narrative campaign from beginning to end.

From an overall experience perspective, this may be the state the game should have launched with originally, but the continued investment and improvements that brought the game to this point are still worth recognizing.

Server Rules

To experience Single-Player Mode, players must create a new character and start from the beginning, building a base and surviving in the desert. This character can only be used in this mode and cannot switch to multiplayer.

On official multiplayer servers, your character can carry your Dune Awakening Solari, equipment, and base between different official servers. Characters can also transfer to private servers or self-hosted servers.

Characters from Multiplayer Private Servers can move between different Private Servers, but they cannot return to official servers. Therefore, players should carefully consider their choices when switching servers.

Polar Caps

There is also Polar Caps planned for 2026, but it will not launch alongside Update 1.5. The official team stated that it will arrive later this year, possibly as a Christmas update. Considering its ice and snow theme, this timing would make sense.

According to the official announcement, Polar Caps will include new survival mechanics, new locations and resources, new loot and craftables, as well as a new standalone storyline.

The polar ice caps will create a major challenge for players who are used to the scorching desert, requiring them to survive extreme cold conditions. This new biome will require new tools, careful preparation, and suitable methods of resisting the cold, such as specialized cold-weather armor.

By then, console players may already have enough equipment to compete in PvP against experienced PC players who have been exploring Arrakis for a long time.

Whether you are entering Dune for the first time on consoles, returning for the single-player campaign, or planning to build a Sardaukar fortress with Filmic Archive DLC, Dune Awakening is bringing plenty of new content on September 22. It is time to return to Arrakis.
