What should you do when you find yourself in a world close to the end of the world? Science fiction and movie experience tells you that you need to do everything you can to collect survival resources and build a base to store them!
Therefore, this concept also applies to the new game Dune: Awakening based on Dune franchise novel. In the game, all creatures live in the harsh natural environment of Arrakis, and all your resources come from fighting and trade.
Although Dune Awakening Solari, which is usually utilized as currency, does not need to be stored separately, other specific survival materials require you to build a base building to store them. And you can also rest and take shelter here.
To ensure that you can build or move your base building in time, we will bring you a more detailed guide.
Where Is It Suitable To Build A Base?
Whether you are building a house in reality or building a courtyard or a doomsday base in the game, before starting construction, the first step is of course to choose a site! Because different building types are suitable for different geographical locations.
For Dune Awakening’s base building, first try to avoid building your base near the starting area, which is far from enemies and monsters, but also far from resource collection points.
If conditions permit, the best base location should be as close to major attractions on the map as possible, such as trading posts, base camps, or large resource deposits. You can quickly find the exact location of all these attractions by opening and zooming in on the map.
Another factor you should consider when choosing a base building is that it is best not to build on sand. Because sand not only increases your chances of being attacked by sandworms around your base, but also makes your building more vulnerable to sandstorms - whether you want to protect it in advance or recover afterwards, it will be troublesome.
In contrast, building on rock formations can avoid the above problems, and rock formations are almost everywhere in the world and are easy to find. You will then need to find a flat surface on the rock formation to build on, and if you utilize rock walls to embed your base into the rock formation, you can further protect it from sandstorms.
It is worth noting that in order to increase the success rate of defending against enemies and natural disasters, you can also build your base on a higher ground, but the premise is that the class you play has the skills that allow you to climb up and down.
How To Build?
After completing the site selection, the next thing you need to do is to collect as much granite as possible from all over the world. This basic construction material appears as small round stones on the map and is everywhere, but it must be collected with the help of Cutteray Mk1.
This item is actually a gathering tool. To craft it, you need to consume 6 Copper Ingot and 4 EMF Generators in the general Fabricator or survival fabricator.
After obtaining enough granite, you can build some basic foundations and walls for your base, but before that, you still need to have a construction tool. Yes, Dune Awakening is so cumbersome! Fortunately, the construction tool crafting only requires some recycled metal.
After making the construction tool and completing the basic construction, you need to place a Sub-fief Console in the base, which determines the construction radius and specific location of the base. It is best to place it in the center of the base.
How To Move And Demolish Building?
The construction tool is actually more than just a tool. When you take it out, it triggers a menu that allows you to view different building structures for construction. Once you have the building materials, open the construction tool to craft and assemble various house components, and then place the entire base.
Once you have determined the placement, click the left mouse button to lock it, then aim at the building and hold down the left mouse button to complete the actual construction.
If you want to move other small items inside the base or demolish some buildings later, you still need to open the small menu of the construction tool. In addition to “Build”, there are also “Piece Picker,” “Move,” “Repair,” and “Demolish”.
To move an object, select the “Move” option, aim at the object, click the left mouse button to pick it up and move it to the new location, and click again to put it down, and you’re done. The same process applies to moving Sub-fief Console.
Similarly, to demolish an object, select the “Demolish” option in the menu, then aim at the object you want to demolish and click the left mouse button to destroy it.
As you progress through the game, you’ll encounter more suitable areas for building bases, or unlock more and rarer building materials, but the building process remains essentially the same. So remember all the information in this guide!
