Diablo 4 Season 8 Inferno Sorcerer Build: How Does This Build Perform After The Latest Update?

Since the release of Diablo 4 Season 8, the performance seems to be not satisfactory, so the developers have been continuously updating patches, balancing the classes and skills in the game, and fixing a lot of bugs. After the latest update 2.2.1, how do your builds perform? Is it still mediocre, or has it quickly stood out with enhanced skills and strength?
Here, we are going to introduce the new Inferno Sorcerer launched after Diablo 4 Season 8 mid-term patch. For some players who are tired of the old Lightning Spear Sorcerer, Inferno Sorcerer is a new and exciting top-level Sorcerer build, which can cause a lot of burning damage, release unlimited Inferno, and turn into a huge Fiery Serpent to attack the enemy. So this is definitely a very interesting and refreshing outfit.
The core of this build is Combustion Passive. Since patch 2.2.1 takes into account not only burning damage and damage to burning enemies, but also continuous damage, a single Key Passive skill can give you a damage boost of up to 10,000% if you build your character correctly with a lot of continuous damage modifiers. Now, let’s take a look!
Gear
Before we get started, I must warn you that our gear is not the best, our Masterworking is average, and our Greater Affixes are even worse. But with this gear alone, we were able to easily clear Pit 85. This means that if you have enough Diablo 4 gold to invest in better gear, you will be invincible in the endgame!
First and foremost, the most important equipment choice for this build is Flickerstep. With it, every enemy we evade will reduce our ultimate cooldown by [2.0 - 4.0] seconds, up to a maximum of 10 seconds.
Of course, our defensive evade skill still uses Teleport, which allows us to turn into lightning and unstoppable, rushing to the target location at once. We’re going to teleport around the screen and reduce our ultimate cooldown so we can use Aspect of Inner Calm on our Amulet.
Our Amulet sucks, by the way. Ideally, though, it should be able to reach the level of Glass Cannon and Endless Pyre, and Aspect of Inner Calm helps us deal more damage while standing still. Of course, we’re standing still because we chose to use Evade Teleport for movement.
Build Core
Another important thing is Combustion Key Passive. As I mentioned before, Combustion as a core passive makes the build viable. And not only does it scale with burning damage and damage to burning targets, it also increases damage over time, so the more time you have, the more damage you do. You’ll see higher and higher percentage increases in damage on burning, and it’s possible to reach up to 10,000% damage increase.
Paragon Board
Now, we’ll move on to Paragon Board. In Paragon Board, we’re going to try to maximize damage to burning enemies and increase burning damage, since these stats are very relevant to Inferno damage for boost builds, which is what we’re trying to optimize for Paragon.
So this means we need to prioritize Flamefeeder and Torch Glyphs when leveling up, since they’re going to add the most damage to your character. By the way, we want to have at least around level 60 glyphs on this character, and some low-level glyphs.
Boss Powers
As far as Boss Powers go, the reason we can easily crush Pit 85 is entirely because we use Andariel’s Flaming Skull as our Main Boss Power, which is a skull that spins around you and spews flames. But since it also does a lot of burning damage to Mercenaries, we’re going to use Subo as a map hack, and Raheir as Reinforcement.
But we don’t actually need Raheir, since it’s almost impossible to die in Pit if we keep our resistances and armor up.
Skills
For our skills we are going to use Teleport Enchantment and Incinerate Enchantment, the second one is required for Incinerate to auto-cast without us having to channel it. This will combine with Aspect of Conflagration on our Two-Handed Staves to increase our damage.
Also, with Inferno being our main damage dealer, we want to reduce its cooldown as much as possible, while the other skills can provide support by increasing the burn damage we deal or reducing the cooldown of our evade or ultimate.
Gameplay
Now for gameplay, we want to use Inferno as much as possible, as this is where most of our damage comes from. To reduce the cooldown of Inferno, we use a lot of cooldown reduction on our gear, keeping it around 8 to 9 seconds, and the remaining cooldown we reduce by equipping Flickerstep Unique Boots.
So we need to teleport as fast as possible, through enemies, and this way we reduce the cooldown of Inferno significantly. Basically, this build is about constantly using Inferno. But in order to constantly use Inferno, we also need to be able to constantly evade.
In addition to equipping Flickerstep, correctly casting Firewall also has a beneficial effect. Therefore, we should have at least one Firewall that can damage enemies on the ground to reduce the cooldown of evade.
Once we can evade continuously, we can reduce the cooldown of Inferno. Therefore, this is the mechanism we used to evade and Inferno infinitely.
Another important thing is that our other skills only support this build, for example:
- Familiar can give us a lot of extra damage.
- Ice Armor can make us unstoppable through one of our aspects.
- Flame Shield can make us invincible for a short time.
- Fireball can destroy enemies with low health.
We need to use these last four spells as much as possible because they have a low cooldown as far as boss battles are concerned.
In the end, I would like to say that this build is just average in terms of all the different Sorcerer builds against bosses, but you can make the build that best suits your play style by trying to do different rotations and complete very high pits with it. Good luck!
