  In Season 15, a single resistance can now reach around 3,500. This means that if you have 6 all-resistance affixes compared with six different single-resistance affixes, the latter can provide a greater overall benefit.

  Stacking single resistance on regular gear usually means sacrificing other affixes. On charms, however, resistance is almost a free benefit. In the past, few players cared about resistance on charms, but in Diablo 4 Season 15, a Charm with +2 Skill Ranks and 3,000 Resistance may be more valuable than one with +3 Skill Ranks but no resistance.

  If you have 6 charms, each providing around 3,000 resistance, and distribute them relatively evenly across different resistance types, you can gain roughly a 10% to 20% increase in effective health (EHP) against all damage types. This is roughly equivalent to getting half of a Defensive Aspect for free.

  For an endgame character, if Maximum Life has already reached 30,000 to 40,000, one Life affix may provide around a 5% to 10% increase in overall EHP. If one resistance type is particularly weak, however, a single-resistance affix can potentially increase EHP against that damage type by 50%, which may even determine whether the character survives.

  Chest Armor and Pants provide a large amount of Armor, while a single Armor affix on other gear slots is roughly equivalent to 5% to 8% Toughness.

  Therefore, once Life and Armor are relatively balanced, you can consider using Tempering to fill in the resistance types you actually need. Boots are especially worth considering because they usually do not have particularly strong Life or Armor affixes, but they can still roll resistance.

  Soul Splinters

  Soul Splinters in Season 15 come with predefined resistances, so you cannot completely control them. Commonly used Splinters include:

  • Splinter of Anguish: Provides Fire Resistance along with Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, making it suitable for a wide range of builds.
  • Splinter of Sin: Provides Lightning Resistance and Maximum Life. It is used more often in Hardcore, especially by fragile classes such as Sorcerers.
