Diablo 4 Season 11 Paladin may be Nerfed | Paragon Nodes, Gear and Class Balance Explained

Category: Diablo 4 Posted: Jan 05, 2026 Views: 1877

Undoubtedly, the most popular class in Diablo 4 right now is Paladin, as new classes always attract the most attention. Spiritborn was also very popular when it first debuted in Vessel of Hatred expansion.

However, to attract players and to allow time for the class to integrate with the overall game balance, new classes are generally slightly stronger than other classes for a period after their release.

If you've been playing Diablo 4, you'll know that Spiritborn was nerfed after its release in Season 7. Therefore, given the current imbalance of Paladin, the community has begun to speculate whether it will also be nerfed in the future.

Based on this, we will analyze the possibility of Paladin being nerfed, and what mechanisms are most likely to be affected.

Diablo 4 Season 11 Paladin may be Nerfed | Paragon Nodes, Gear and Class Balance Explained

Castle Paragon node is too powerful

In Diablo 4, Paragon board is the main way to further strengthen your character after leveling up. Each class has its own exclusive Paragon board and built-in nodes.

However, since Paladin's release, players have discovered that a legendary Paragon node called Castle is too powerful: it provides a 1.8% damage multiplier based on your armor value, and the final multiplier will also increase with higher armor values.

Because Paladin's armor value is always higher compared to other classes, this allows you and your Paladin builds to deal significantly more damage, even moderate builds can reach 1000 times the damage!

While this makes boss fights and farming easier when playing Paladin, it's unfair to players of other classes, and over time it can also lead to a loss of interest in the game - after all, everything is so easy.

Therefore, even if other aspects of Paladin are not nerfed, Castle node is a Diablo 4 mechanism that should be modified, such as setting a cap on the damage multiplier or reducing the base multiplier.

Argent Veil may be nerfed

As one of the many unique items added to the game for Paladin, the main function of Argent Veil is that using dodge triggers a random equipped core skill every 2 meters moved. The damage dealt by this skill is increased during and for 4 seconds after the dodge.

This means you only need to dodge to activate your core skills, without even needing to press the core skill button or consume other resources such as health or faith points.

Therefore, we speculate that this item might be nerfed, for example, by adjusting the number of core skills available or the strength of the core skills.

However, even if you are using a build centered around this item, you don't need to worry about the nerf affecting your gameplay experience, because you can upgrade Argent Veil through Tempering or Masterworking.

Alternatively, imprinting more Legendary Aspects onto this gear is also a good upgrade option. By simply consuming Diablo 4 gold and visiting Occultist, you can obtain reliable gear attribute upgrades within a balanced game environment.

Another powerful gear is Judgment of Auriel

This ring grants you all skill upgrades in Arbiter of Justice form and increases damage and damage reduction based on skill level. This bonus effect is doubled for 30 seconds after landing, sometimes even reaching a multiplier of up to 250 times.

This is certainly a benefit for players equipping this ring, but if you are using other gear, even if you do everything perfectly, it's difficult to achieve the same high multiplier, leading to an imbalance in the game experience.

Furthermore, if you are using builds centered around Judgment of Auriel, you will usually also pair it with Dawnfire gloves. This gear has a chance to make Holy Light Aura skill deal double damage.

Therefore, we speculate that if Judgment of Auriel and related builds are nerfed, the damage effect of Dawnfire might also be reduced, such as a lower increase or fewer stacks.

Overall nerf to Paladin stats

Based on its design philosophy, Paladin has a very high initial block rate and block damage reduction. In addition, some equipable gear also has damage reduction attributes. Even if you equip a shield, you still get 100% of your main-hand weapon damage, without losing DPS.

As a result, the combination of these factors leads to Paladin's final damage and damage reduction far exceeding other classes. Therefore, in addition to nerfing overpowered gear, Paladin's basic abilities should also be optimized to be more balanced.

If you've played other classes during the leveling process and then compared them to Paladin, you'll find that Paladin currently dominates the game, and all of this boils down to gaining a large amount of block value.

Because you can use this as a basis to stack armor, which is a defensive attribute, while also gaining attack attribute bonuses in various aspects. Interestingly, you'll find that the culprit is still Castle node we mentioned at the beginning.

Additionally, some talent nodes may need adjustments to prevent the block mechanic from reaching its cap too easily. If this nerf is eventually implemented, you will need to start using gear to enhance your block attributes.

Summary

While Paladin is currently designed to be too powerful for a new class, it's better to be initially overpowered than underpowered. Otherwise, players who try it out of curiosity will complain if they find it weak.

However, as the game develops, it's necessary to balance Paladin with appropriate nerfs to integrate it into the overall Diablo 4 experience with more balanced stats and gameplay, especially since a second expansion will bring the other new class.

The above is our discussion and speculation on whether Paladin will be nerfed. We hope this will be helpful for you as you continue playing Diablo Season 11!
