In the current Ultimate Vault Hunter 5, all Borderlands 4 Vault Hunters have powerful builds. Harlowe and Rafa are the strongest, but Harlowe is slightly better than Rafa in the top-tier builds. Vex ranks third, and Aman ranks fourth, but all character builds can easily defeat bosses.

Each Vault Hunter has three talent trees, and the talent point allocation determines your Vault Hunter's build. However, there are differences between each talent tree. Let's take a look at the strongest builds for each Vault Hunter.

Borderlands 4 Best Vault Hunter Builds For UVH5 | Infinite Ammo And High-Damage Setups

Aman Best Build

  • Core Skill Tree: Vengeance (Blue) and Calamity (Red)
  • Action Skill: Scourge

Main Skill

Aman primarily needs to use Heavy Ordinance, which is considered both a Gun and an Ordinance weapon. This allows Aman to benefit from both weapon damage and Ordinance damage bonuses simultaneously.

Tail of the Comet grants Aman a chance to apply a Cryo status effect when dealing Ordinance damage. Primal Surge grants Aman a chance to regenerate shields and ammo while applying status effects. This gives Aman virtually unlimited ammo when using heavy weapons.

Berserk, after activating Forgeskill, gains up to a 60% Cryo Damage bonus. There is Only Red extends the duration of Berserk by killing enemies during its duration and provides even more Cryo damage, up to 600%.

Full Spectrum Arsenal Specialization adds a portion of weapon damage to heavy weapons, creating a double bonus.

Calculating Cyborg class mod provides a large additional skill point for the following skills:

  • Endless Bombardment
  • Ballistic Bulwark
  • Primal Surge
  • Scorched Kairos

Besides the key skill from Vengeance, Endless Bombardment from the green skill tree further ensures ammo regeneration.

Vex Best Build

  • Core Skill Tree: Vexcalation (Green)
  • Action Skill: Incarnate

Main Skills

The core of this build is Witchy Trigger Finger. Causing an Eldritch Blast or Phase Explosion allows you to reload Vex's weapon. Lifesteal is key to Vex's survival. Activating Essence Leech and Leeching Attunement skills grants up to 20% lifesteal.

Teen Witch class mod greatly enhances Vex's survivability, allowing lifesteal to be partially applied to shields and overshields, making the character virtually unkillable.

The core damage passive of this build is Blood is Power. It converts 300% lifesteal into additional Kinetic Damage, significantly increasing weapon damage. Combined with high-powered weapons, it can even instantly kill some bosses.

Other Key Skills

  • Phase Pocket: Provides a 30% magazine size bonus, offering more leeway when used with Witch's Trigger Finger.
  • Enchantment (Here Comes Trouble Tree): Provides additional Kinetic Damage when the action skill is active.
  • Corporeal: Increases Overload Shield capacity and boosts damage when Overload Shield is active.
  • Mortal Terror: Critically Hit has a chance to activate all Kill Skills, working exceptionally well with high-rate-of-fire weapons.
  • Target Prescience & Grave Implements: These two skills stack significantly, providing a large weapon damage bonus.

How To Play?

This build primarily utilizes Torque Stickies. Its characteristics allow you to stick as many bullets as possible to the enemy before reloading. Combined with Vax's infinite ammo, detonating them deals massive damage and triggers lifesteal for survival.

Recommended Weapons

  • Bod Shotgun: One of the strongest weapons for all characters, especially suitable for Torque Stickies builds.
  • Bonnie and Clyde: Offers both shotgun and assault rifle modes, and has received buffs.

Rafa Best Build

  • Core Skill Tree: Remote Agent (Red)
  • Action Skill: Peacebreaker Cannons

Main Skills

Bullet-Buddy Deluxe is the core of this build, providing Peacebreaker Cannons with infinite ammo for 8 seconds. This time can be extended with Instigator class mod.

The damage of this build primarily comes from Indirect Projectiles, including ricochets and thrown weapons. Air and Spark skill adds extra incendiary damage to all Indirect Projectiles, and this damage bonus applies to all of Rafa's damage bonuses.

Allocating 1 point to Hostile Acquisition will allow Rafa's indirect projectiles to provide lifesteal, ensuring survivability.

How To play?

This build plays similarly to Vex's build. You need to utilize Bullet-Buddy Deluxe effect of unlimited ammo, combined with weapons like Bod Shotgun or Queen's Rest, to quickly attach a large number of sticky bombs to enemies.

When the unlimited ammo effect ends, reload to detonate all the sticky bombs. Most bosses will be instantly killed by your insane damage.

Recommended Guns:

  • T.K's Wave
  • Queen's Rest
  • Bod Shotgun

Harlowe Best Build

  • Core Skill Tree: Cosmic Brilliance (Green)
  • Action Skill: Flux Generator

Main Skills

  • Critical Funding: Grants a chance to entangle enemies and recover some magazine ammo on critical hits.
  • Excited State: When an enemy takes action skill damage, your next shot will always be a critical hit.
  • Decoherence: Deals extra damage to entangled enemies and enemies within Flux Generator's range.
  • Confirmative Reality: Shooting entangled enemies restores action skill cooldown, keeping Flux Generator running.

How To Play?

By equipping Nuclear Winter, you continuously deal action skill damage. This triggers Excited State, making every shot a critical hit, and the critical hits then trigger Critical Brilliance. Funding triggers ammo regeneration and entanglement, allowing you to continuously regenerate ammo and deal critical hits.

You can fire indefinitely by simply pressing the trigger, unleashing a barrage of ammo on bosses until they die. This build also works well with heavy weapons, providing significant benefits and offering entangle-based lifesteal and shield buffs, resulting in excellent survivability.

These are currently the four strongest Vault Hunter builds, all utilizing the core concept of infinite ammo or extremely high damage synergy, sufficient to handle the challenges of the game's highest difficulty.
