ARC Raiders New Comet and Firefly Units Introduced | Why Ignoring Them Is a Huge Loss?

Category: ARC Raiders Posted: Feb 27, 2026 Views: 868

A major update to ARC Raiders has arrived, adding two new ARC enemies to the game. Don't worry too much, though, and they're not as troublesome as Queen or Matriarch.

Some players are hoping to find and defeat these two new enemies to obtain their exclusive loot. Let's take a look at the characteristics of the two new enemies, Comet and Firefly, and their spawn areas.

ARC Raiders New Comet and Firefly Units Introduced Why Ignoring Them Is a Huge Loss

Comet

The first one to introduce is Comet, a ground unit. Defeating it yields Comet Igniter. It's spherical, similar in size to Surveyor in the game, but its behavior is more like a moving Pop.

Attack Method

Once it detects you, Comet immediately enters a charge state, crashing into you in a straight line at extremely high speed. Upon approaching its target, it initiates a self-destruct, dealing massive damage to everything within the blast radius. While a single explosion isn't enough to instantly kill you, it puts you in an extremely vulnerable state, making you easily finished off by other ARC units or players who arrive shortly after. Therefore, the best strategy is to avoid getting into this situation altogether.

How to Defeat Comets?

There are two main strategies for dealing with Comet, each with distinctly different loot:

Trigger Self-Destruction

The safest method is to let it charge on its own, then take cover just before it explodes. This method easily eliminates the threat.

However, a Comet destroyed this way will only drop one of two possible loot containers.

Possible drops include:

  • Advanced ARC Powercell
  • ARC Thermo Lining
  • ARC Alloy
  • ARC Coolant
  • Crude Explosives

Premature Destruction

If you want to obtain Comet's unique loot, Comet Igniter, you must destroy it before it self-destructs.

You can use a medium-ammo or heavy-ammo weapon to shoot through its armor plating (provided you have enough ammo in your magazine). Alternatively, wait for it to charge, exposing its central core, and then seize the opportunity for a precise shot.

The best method is to use Seeker Grenades. Because of their tracking ability, they guarantee a hit even if Comet moves extremely fast. Just two Seeker Grenades are enough to take down a Comet. More importantly, the materials dropped by Comet are enough to recoup most of the cost of crafting those two grenades.

After successfully shooting down Comet before it self-destructs, it will drop two loot containers. The second container will always contain one Comet Igniter and one Explosive Compound.

Since Shrouded Sky update, Comet Igniter has become one of the materials used to craft Deadline mine, one of the most powerful weapons against large ARC units in the game. Therefore, to craft it, you need to hunt Comets regularly.

How to Find Comets?

While some players have reported finding Comets in other areas, they have the highest spawn rate on maps with Hurricanes status.

However, be aware that your vision will be severely limited in Hurricanes. Meanwhile, if you are wearing armor, you will continuously take damage while outside, so it is recommended to temporarily remove your armor.

Firefly

This ARC unit is very similar to Hornet in the game, but its weapon is not an electric shock, but a flamethrower.

Attack Method

Firefly is more challenging because all four of its rotors are protected by Heavy Plating, while Hornet only has two. This makes it difficult to quickly shoot it down using Light Ammo or medium-caliber weapons. Its attack method is to ignite its target, causing damage similar to other fire mechanics. While it won't immediately cause massive damage that kills you, it will disrupt your offensive rhythm.

How to Defeat Firefly?

When facing Firefly, the primary task is to retreat immediately and take cover indoors or enclosed spaces. This will effectively avoid damage from its flamethrower.

The best strategy is to treat it like an enhanced version of Hornet, concentrating fire on its thrusters. After destroying one or two, it will lose balance and fall, at which point it can be easily eliminated. However, you'll need to break through its heavy armor plates first, so it's recommended to use at least a medium-caliber weapon, but a weapon like Anvil, which excels at penetrating armor, is even better.

You can also aim at the yellow Fuel Tank on its body. This weak point becomes more apparent when Firefly enters attack mode. Like other ARC units, the yellow nodes are Weak Points. However, be aware that even when attacking the weak point, it's still quite durable. And when it's constantly spewing flames, aiming at its weak point becomes even more difficult, and it's best to hide and wait for its attack to end.

Loots

After successfully defeating Firefly, you'll find Firefly Burner in its wreckage. This is a new exclusive material added in Shrouded Sky update, used for crafting Trailblazer grenades, another powerful and quick-use item for dealing with large ARC units or other Raiders. Therefore, taking the time to deal with Firefly is definitely worthwhile when you encounter it.

How to Find Firefly?

Compared to Comets, Fireflies are more widely distributed, and can be found throughout the map even in non-hurricane conditions.

They usually operate alongside other flying units, such as Hornets or Wasps. You can find them at high points on maps like The Blue Gate and Spaceport.

These two new enemies aren't too difficult to deal with, and the materials they drop are essential for tackling higher difficulty content, so don't hesitate to shoot them down when you encounter them.
