AION 2 Gears Up for Global Launch with Microsoft Azure to Tackle MMO Launch-Day Chaos

Every MMO veteran knows the drill: launch day hits, millions of players rush the login gates, and the servers promptly catch fire. Unpredictable bugs and crushing server load are practically rites of passage in the genre. But for the upcoming global launch of AION 2, NC is aggressively trying to rewrite that script, tapping Microsoft Azure to handle the inevitable player stampede.

Cloud Elasticity Meets Real-World Population Caps
This move follows a massive Launch Scale Test that put the game's infrastructure through its paces. With over 73,000 concurrent players logging in via Steam alone—plus an undisclosed number pouring in through NC’s proprietary PURPLE platform—the developers got a massive dose of real-world data. By migrating the global infrastructure to Azure's highly adaptable cloud network, NC aims to dynamically shift resources on the fly. In theory, this should smooth out regional traffic spikes, mitigate login bottlenecks, and drastically cut downtime when things inevitably go sideways.
That said, "cloud infrastructure" isn't a magic wand for infinite server capacity. Every realm still has a hard population cap. As is tradition, community groups, massive guilds, and big-name streamers will inevitably flock to a single "mega-server," creating massive localized bottlenecks. NC has already confirmed that login queues will be active to keep the hardware from buckling under the sheer weight of the player base. So, if you're stuck in a queue on launch day, just remember: it's a planned safety valve keeping the server from outright crashing.
A Staggered Rollout Driven by Real-World Test Data
NC is clearly taking the data from their recent stress tests seriously. Midway through the testing phase, they deployed additional European servers and pushed hotfixes to stabilize the client, proving they're actively reacting to player behavior rather than just crossing their fingers.
To further defuse the launch-day bomb, AION 2 is rolling out a staggered release. Founder’s Pack owners will get early access starting September 30. This gives NC a crucial five-day buffer to monitor live server stability, adjust configurations, and spin up new realms if necessary, long before the free-to-play floodgates open to the masses on October 5.
In-Game Economy and the Ultimate Launch-Day Verdict
Beyond the technical hurdles, veteran players will be keeping a close eye on the in-game economy. Like its predecessors, it revolves around grinding resources, gearing up, and hoarding AION 2 kinah. How NC balances drop rates, currency sinks, and early-game progression during these highly volatile first few weeks will set the tone for the game’s long-term economic health.
Ultimately, no MMO launch is ever flawless. Even with Azure's cloud muscle, staggered entry times, and extensive stress testing, the real trial starts when the servers go live for good. NC has clearly put the work in to prepare for the onslaught—now, it's just a matter of waiting to see if we'll be soaring through the skies on day one, or staring down the barrel of a 10,000-player queue screen.

Aion 2 War for Atreia Complete Guide: Sept 23 Draft, Captains & Viewing Rewards Explained
To celebrate the upcoming global launch of Aion 2 - titled War for Atreia - a massive team-based competition among content creators is set to kick off on September 30. Tomorrow, September 23, marks the team selection livestream, where captains will pick their teammates before the actual matches begin.
Here is a guide on how to watch the selection livestream and what you can expect from the event.
Event Background
60 content creators from North America, Europe, and Latin America are participating in War for Atreia. Divided into Elyos and Asmodians factions, they are coming together to celebrate the global launch of Aion 2 on October 5.
This event is no minor affair; the draft phase mirrors the format of professional sports, with captains publicly selecting their team members before the formal competition begins.
The event is enormous in scale, involving creators across multiple time zones and language communities, with subsequent broadcasts taking place across various channels.

Draft Livestream
The draft livestream will air on Twitch and YouTube on September 23 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time. During the stream, captains will select their teammates and finalize the rosters for their respective Legions.
Following the draft, each Legion will reveal its name and Sigil. Updates regarding the schedule, matchups, and event progress will also be shared through the same official channels.
Captains and Team Composition
Official Aion 2 representatives have confirmed six captains, each serving as a representative creator for a specific faction within their region.
The captains for North America are Stoopzz and Sonii; for Europe, Baggins and Wakayashi; and for Latin America, Rakin and Tixinha.
Each region and faction has a quota of 10 creators. Aside from the captains, the remaining 54 creators will be included in their region's draft pool, from which the two captains will take turns making their selections.
Captains can publicly campaign for support before the draft begins, and selected creators will respond in real time during the stream, adding an entertaining element to the draft process itself.
Once the draft concludes, each Legion will announce its name and Sigil, allowing you to choose which team to support based on these details.
Factions and Legions
Judging by the event name and the draft format, Aion 2: War for Atreia is not a one-off exhibition match but a competitive event spanning a period of time.
It features two parallel storylines: the faction war between Elyos and Asmodians, and the competition among the various Legions.
The draft livestream assigns participating creators to different teams, allowing viewers to see each team's roster right from the start of the event.
It is important to distinguish between the two: Faction refers to the allegiance within the game's lore, whereas Legion refers to the specific competitive unit formed for this event through team captains selecting their members. While interconnected in War for Atreia, they are not the same thing.
For players, understanding the relationship between Factions and Legions - and choosing whom to follow based on the draft results - will make it easier to keep up with the event.

Scoring Rules
The organizers have already outlined the basic rules: points are primarily earned through Campaign Bounties completed by participating creators, as well as points generated by viewers watching the stream and recruiting new audience members.
At the conclusion of Aion 2: War for Atreia, the faction with the highest total score will be declared the winner.
Specific scoring details - such as how viewing duration is calculated or the criteria for viewer recruitment - have not yet been fully detailed; further information may be provided later via official channels.
Viewing Rewards
This Aion 2 competition kicks off with Early Access launch on September 30 and runs until the global launch on October 5. The event will feature hidden bounties, exclusive viewer rewards, and Twitch Drops.
Details regarding how to trigger or complete hidden bounties introduced mid-event will not be revealed all at once, so viewers should keep a close eye on official channels and the livestreams for real-time updates.
These tasks offer opportunities for both participating creators and viewers to earn extra points or rewards.
Twitch Drops will be released in stages throughout the event, with multiple rounds scheduled to encourage viewers to keep returning to the streams.
While a specific list of rewards has not yet been announced, watching your favorite creators' streams guarantees a chance to earn exclusive rewards.
For players planning to jump into the game on October 5th, the incentive to watch the event will be even stronger if the rewards include early-game resources like Aion 2 Kinah.
Viewing Tips
The official Aion 2 channel and individual creator channels serve different purposes: the official channel typically covers the draft, rule explanations, and stage recaps, while creator channels focus more on actual gameplay, team dynamics, and day-to-day progression.
If you want a quick overview of the draft or War for Atreia event as a whole, prioritize watching the official livestream on time; if you want to take a deep dive into a specific Legion's performance, follow the corresponding creator.
Don't worry if you miss the live broadcast - the official channel usually keeps replays available, allowing you to catch up on specific segments like the draft, showcases, and match stages.
When participating in Aion 2 community discussions, using official hashtags makes it easier to find players from your own faction and share information about the schedule and rewards.
Keep these two key dates for Aion 2: War for Atreia in mind: the draft livestream tomorrow (September 23) and the official start of the event on September 30!

AION 2 DPS Classes Performance Review Based on Diverse Combat Environments and Requirements
With the global launch of AION 2 just two weeks away, we can already draw several preliminary conclusions based on the two Launch Scale Tests that have concluded, specifically regarding the basic performance of each class.
Like most MMORPGs, AION 2 classes can be broadly categorized into three types: DPS, Tank, and Support. Generally speaking, at least in the early stages of the game, DPS classes are highly popular and essential for clearing dungeons and raids.
There are currently nine playable classes in the game. Those with DPS-oriented characteristics primarily include Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Spiritmaster. While Templar and Gladiator lean more towards the tank role, they are also viable options for dealing damage.
As for the Brawler, since it is the newest class, there are relatively few players with fully optimized gear, and the performance data is inconsistent; therefore, we are excluding it from this initial assessment.
Based on the information above and observations from LST, we present a preliminary evaluation of Aion 2 DPS classes to help you decide which one to play when the game officially launches.

What criteria define DPS strength?
When evaluating the strength of Aion 2 classes, particularly DPS classes, one should avoid blindly chasing meta picks or focusing solely on raw damage numbers. Instead, a comprehensive assessment across multiple dimensions is required.
First, consider the time factor: fast-paced skirmishes and raids lasting anywhere from several minutes to over half an hour place vastly different demands on DPS classes.
The former favors classes with high burst potential, while the latter prioritizes sustained, consistent performance.
Furthermore, it is important to analyze a class's damage output not only with various buffs applied but also in terms of NDPS, damage calculated based solely on independent skills and gear strength, excluding all external enhancements.
Finally, as gear quality improves, clear times for standard AION 2 dungeons will inevitably decrease. When combat duration is compressed to the extreme, the numbers produced by burst-oriented DPS classes stand out significantly, often masking their weaknesses in prolonged battles.
Assassin takes the top spot
Based on current AION 2 combat mechanics, Assassin appears to be the top-performing DPS class. Thanks to an exceptionally high uptime on burst phases, this class dominates both short-duration encounters (around 20 seconds) and Endgame Conquest modes, boasting massive damage peaks.
However, in prolonged dungeon runs or raids, Assassin's damage output levels off after the burst window ends; while its advantage becomes less pronounced, its overall average damage remains impressive.
Therefore, if you are chasing peak DPS, and especially if you want to rapidly farm Aion 2 Kinah solo during the game's early stages, the fast-paced Assassin is an excellent choice.
Do note, however, that this class has a steep learning curve; it requires proficient MMORPG skills and quick reflexes. Proceed only if you are confident in your mechanical abilities.
Gladiator and Templar underperform expectations
Gladiator presents one of the most striking performance discrepancies in Aion 2. In undisturbed dummy tests, the class easily outperforms other DPS classes thanks to skills with high damage coefficients.
Yet, in actual Endgame Expedition or Conquest scenarios, its final damage output falls far short of expectations, barely edging out support classes. It also ranks low in the latest Transcendence dungeons.
This is primarily because Gladiator relies heavily on maintaining a continuous attack flow to reach peak damage, a rhythm easily disrupted by the movement, dodging, and mechanic shifts required in real combat.
Consequently, unless the development team makes adjustments, blindly choosing Gladiator will probably put you at a disadvantage.
As for Templar, the issue is that while it performs well in dummy tests, its core value lies in tanking damage and crowd control rather than DPS.
Given the game's ongoing updates and the class's hybrid nature, balancing defense and utility, it remains a role defined by survivability and support rather than raw damage output.

Indispensable ranged DPS for raids
While Assassins reign supreme in burst-down scenarios, ranged sustained-DPS classes, Ranger, Sorcerer, and Spiritmaster, offer irreplaceable stability in challenging dungeons and lengthy raids.
Sorcerers, in particular, excel in large-scale raids. Its combination of sustained high-level spell-casting and high-pressure burst damage allows for consistent performance during mechanic-heavy, long-duration encounters, alongside exceptional adaptability to various combat environments.
Ranger's strength lies in its high mobility and agility, allowing it to deal damage while repositioning, virtually unimpeded by complex combat mechanics.
Conversely, for high-difficulty dungeons requiring prolonged engagements, Spiritmaster's DoT and debuff mechanics generate a remarkably consistent damage output, with performance that becomes increasingly reliable as the battle drags on.
How to choose the right DPS class for yourself?
Based on the review above and the current Aion 2 game environment, finding the right DPS class starts with identifying your primary playstyle.
If you prioritize efficient daily farming and rapid, burst-heavy kills, Assassin is your best bet. The new Brawler class is also worth considering, even if its performance is currently somewhat inconsistent.
If your goal is to tackle challenging large-scale dungeons or raids, a more reliable approach is to pick one of the three ranged DPS classes that appeals to you and master it through practice.
Of course, by the time Aion 2 officially launches, the development team will inevitably make adjustments based on live-server performance and player feedback. While DPS class tier rankings may shift, the top choices for the short term are likely to remain stable.

AION 2 Launch Scale Test Draws 73,000+ Players: How Does the Global Version Differ from Korea and Taiwan?
On September 17-18, the highly anticipated global version of AION 2 held a Launch Scale Test (LST) - the only public test open to all players prior to the game's global release. The results far exceeded expectations: the test attracted over 73,000 concurrent players across the two-day period, with zero server crashes or latency issues. Many players hailed it as the most successful test for a new MMORPG in the last decade.
The Significance Behind the Numbers

The test offered six hours of playtime daily, totaling 12 hours. It is important to note that this was not a traditional beta test; there were no application forms, activation codes, or invitation requirements - anyone could participate directly via Steam or PURPLE platform. The objective was to stress-test servers, matchmaking systems, and login infrastructure ahead of the official launch, rather than to showcase the game's full content.
If there was one major surprise during the test, it was the improvement in network latency. Previously, AION 2 operated on Taiwanese servers with latency ranging from 170 to 200 ms. Players had gradually adapted to the resulting input lag - their brains would automatically compensate, yet a visible delay in skill responsiveness remained.
Upon switching to the global servers, skills executed instantly upon command, movement felt more responsive, and the fluidity of dodging and animation canceling saw a massive leap in quality. Combo execution became cleaner, and the overall feel of the combat system improved significantly.
With its barrier-free access, massive player base, and flawless performance, this AION 2 test has undoubtedly built significant confidence leading up to the global launch.
Asian vs. Global: Key Differences Explained
AION 2 launched early in South Korea and Taiwan on November 19, 2025, accumulating a wealth of player feedback and operational experience over nearly a year. The global version is not merely a simple port; significant adjustments have been made regarding platforms, monetization, and content pacing.
Platform Differences
While the Korean and Taiwan versions support both PC and mobile platforms, the global version is a native PC title developed using Unreal Engine 5. It is distributed via Steam and PURPLE platform and supports DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation and DLSS 5. This gives the global version greater potential regarding visual fidelity and performance.
The minimum system requirements for the global version are:
- AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-10500 processor
- 8GB RAM
- NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 470
The recommended specifications are:
- AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700
- 16GB RAM
- NVIDIA RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
Language and Regions
The global version supports 10 languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Servers cover four major regions—North America, South America, Europe, and Japan - with this localized deployment designed to provide a low-latency gaming experience for players in each area.
Content Pacing
The global version launches based on a tuned version of Season 1, incorporating a wealth of quality-of-life improvements and class balance adjustments accumulated during the Korean server's first year of operation.
However, late-game content introduced on the Korean server over the past year - such as Season 2, new chapter dungeons, and new classes - will not be available at the global launch. Officials have stated that the global server will consistently lag behind the Korean server by a certain period, though the exact duration has not yet been determined.
Good News for F2P Players: Reward Adjustments
One of the most notable changes in the global version of Aion 2 is the significant improvement to the experience for Free-to-Play (F2P) players.
The studio recognizes that the player demographic in Western markets differs fundamentally from that in Asia; in Korea and Taiwan, 99% of players use a subscription model, whereas in the West, a large number of players prefer to experience the game entirely for free.
This understanding is directly reflected in the distribution mechanism for core resources. Shugo Festival is one of the game's most important sources for obtaining materials to craft gear and items; players use Shugo Festival Reward Keys to claim these rewards. In the Korean and Taiwanese versions, subscribers receive two keys daily, whereas non-subscribers receive only one. In contrast, the global version grants non-subscribers three keys per day, representing a significant increase in the base key allocation.
Odd Energy mechanic in Dungeons follows a similar logic. Odd Energy is a resource required to claim rewards after the final boss battle of an expedition; if the balance is insufficient, rewards cannot be collected. Players must replenish it by waiting for it to recharge over time or by using recharging items.

There is a substantial difference in energy storage caps between subscribers and non-subscribers in the Korean and Taiwanese versions: non-subscribers are capped at 540, while subscribers are capped at 840. This means subscribers can accumulate more energy while offline, allowing them to secure more reward resources upon returning to the game.
Although specific numerical details for the global version have not yet been fully revealed, the adjustments made to the key system suggest that free-to-play players in the global version will likely have a vastly different experience regarding core resource acquisition compared to their Asian counterparts.
Advice for Prospective Players
For players planning to start playing Aion 2 upon its global release on October 5, the following points are worth noting in advance:
Non-subscribers can plan their resource management early
If you do not intend to purchase a subscription initially, it is advisable to prioritize leveling up your character, familiarizing yourself with daily tasks and dungeon systems, and steadily accumulating Aion 2 Kinah during the early stages of the game. As your character progresses, the demand for equipment, upgrades, and various materials will increase; establishing a reliable source of resources early on will also facilitate trading via the Auction House later.
Players eager for early access should look into Founder's Pack
Although the LST has concluded, holders of Founder's Pack will gain early access privileges before the global servers officially launch. If your goal is to create a character, familiarize yourself with the game systems, and engage with early-game content as soon as the game goes live, you should check the specific benefits included in the various tiers of Founder's Pack.
Check PC specifications and client requirements in advance
The global version is currently PC-exclusive. It is recommended that you check your PC specifications, graphics card drivers, and available hard drive space before the official launch, and allow sufficient time for downloading and updating the game. Given the high volume of players expected at launch, completing the client installation beforehand is advised to avoid a poor experience caused by mass downloading once the servers go live. Overall, the global version of AION 2 is not merely a regional port; rather, it is a version that has been refined for a worldwide audience following nearly a year of operation and adjustment in the Asian market.
Factors such as LST performance, its positioning as a PC title, content pacing, and the free-to-play resource mechanics create significant differences between the global server and the Korean and Taiwanese versions. For new players looking to jump in, now may be the perfect time to familiarize themselves with the game systems, choose a class, and prepare for the launch.

AION 2 before Global Launch: How to Use Launch Scale Test to Find the Right Class for You?
AION 2 is entering a critical phase leading up to its global launch. Launch Scale Test (LST) will open on September 17 and 18, allowing players to experience the global version's actual combat feel, class mechanics, and server performance firsthand. If you plan to participate in the LST, this test offers more than just a preview of whether the game is worth playing; it is also a low-risk opportunity to familiarize yourself with classes and determine which combat style suits you best.
Careful consideration of your class choice is essential because, in AION 2, classes are strictly tied to specific weapon types, and the developers have intentionally made the cost of developing alt characters high. This means your initial class choice largely dictates the gameplay experience for your entire account. This article analyzes the eight classes available at the global launch to help you find the one that best matches your playstyle and preferred game pace.

Melee Classes: Gladiator and Templar
Gladiator

The Gladiator wields a greatsword and wears plate armor, occupying a role somewhere between a tank and a DPS. Their core damage rotation includes Crushing Wave and Frenzied Wave for clearing groups of enemies (AoE), while Blade Dance helps handle situations where they are surrounded.
This class is beginner-friendly primarily due to its blood absorption mechanic - dealing damage restores health, ensuring that accidental pulls don't prove fatal. With 52 skills, plate armor, and a large health pool, Gladiator can even serve as a backup tank if the party lacks a dedicated one. If you are completely unsure what to play, the Gladiator is the safest initial choice.
Templar

Templar wields a one-handed longsword and shield, serving as AION 2's only dedicated tank class. Their 41 skills are almost entirely focused on a single goal: keeping the boss's aggro locked on themselves to protect their teammates.
Core skills include Vicious Strike for steadily building aggro, Provoke to force the target's attention onto themselves, and Doom Shield, which provides crucial defense against high-damage boss attacks.
Templar excels in survivability and has a clear team role, but this comes at the cost of limited damage output and slower leveling speed during solo play. Success with this class relies on understanding boss mechanics, aggro management, and defensive skill cooldowns. It is best suited for players willing to actively soak up damage, observe combat mechanics, and deploy the right defensive skills at critical moments.
Healing and Support: Cleric and Chanter
Cleric

Cleric wields a mace and is the only irreplaceable class in a dungeon party - solely because only Cleric possesses the ability to resurrect fallen allies.
Their healing toolkit encompasses direct healing, heal-over-time (HoT) effects, and team support: Healing Light quickly restores the health of allies with low HP; Radiant Recovery heals while simultaneously cleansing certain negative effects; and Blessing of Regeneration provides sustained healing.
However, they are not confined to the backline. Clerics also possess a Battle Priest aspect, allowing them to contribute damage when healing demands are low. Earth's Retribution deals damage while restoring the caster's mana, and Judgment Thunder delivers area-of-effect (AoE) damage.
Cleric's core value lies in reliable team healing and resurrection capabilities. Players must constantly monitor allies' health, their own positioning, and skill cooldowns. While this makes the class challenging to master, it also makes them the most sought-after members for any party.
Chanter

Chanter is a hybrid class in AION 2 that combines damage dealing, support, and healing capabilities, wielding a staff. Unlike Cleric, whose focus is primarily on healing, Chanter emphasizes frontline combat and provides continuous team buffs through Mantras.
Chanter possesses a complete melee combo chain, utilizing skills such as Onslaught, Resonance Crush, Impactful Crush, and Crushing Blow to maintain a steady damage output. Meanwhile, Sprint Mantra and Undefeated Mantra provide ongoing buffs to the party, allowing Chanter to create value for the team even without acting as the primary healer.
This versatile role grants Chanter solid soloing capabilities while allowing them to adapt to a wide range of group scenarios.
Physical and Magical Damage: Ranger and Sorcerer
Ranger

Ranger wields a bow and serves as a ranged physical damage dealer. The class's core gameplay revolves not merely around maintaining a damage rotation, but - more importantly - using movement and crowd control to keep an optimal distance from enemies. Snipe serves as a high-damage opener; Rapid Fire and Spiral Arrow handle sustained damage; and Explosion Trap and Snare Trap allow Ranger to utilize terrain and traps to restrict enemy movement.
When faced with melee enemies attempting to close the gap, Ranger can use skills like Snare Shot and Shackling Arrow to create distance, while employing Stealth to find more advantageous firing positions. In essence, Ranger's survival relies heavily on effective distance management.
Sorcerer

Sorcerer wields a spellbook and is designed as a pure magic damage dealer. Its core gameplay revolves around two elements: Fire and Ice. Fire skills - such as Firebomb, Firestorm, Blaze, and Hellfire - focus on sustained damage and burst potential, wearing down enemy health through burning effects. Ice skills - including Ice Chain, Cold Snap, Winter Shackles, and Soul Freeze - emphasize crowd control, offering effects like slowing, rooting, and freezing.
Most of Sorcerer's skills are instant-cast, allowing for damage output while moving. However, the class has the lowest defense of all; Arctic Armor offers only limited protection in critical moments. It is a high-skill-ceiling, low-margin-for-error class: mastering positioning, crowd control, and skill timing unlocks immense damage potential, but poor positioning combined with low survivability can easily render the player ineffective.
Therefore, if you choose Sorcerer as your main class, you need to pay more attention to investing resources such as Aion 2 Kinah in equipment and character progression to compensate for the class's low margin for error.
Summoning and Stealth: Spiritmaster and Assassin
Spiritmaster

Spiritmaster wields an orb, with core gameplay centered on summoning and DoT effects. The class can summon elemental spirits of various attributes - Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth - to assist in combat and draw enemy aggro, creating a safer environment for the player to deal damage.
While summons hold the enemy's attention, Spiritmaster applies DoT effects using skills like Cold Shock, Earth Tremor, and Combustion, while recovering health via Siphon. Skills such as Souls Cry and Ashy Call provide crowd control, proving highly effective when facing multiple opponents.
Spiritmaster's strengths shine particularly in solo play: summons share the burden of incoming damage and enemy pressure, allowing the player to sustain combat without relying on teammates.
Assassin

Assassin wields daggers and is a stealth-based melee damage dealer; gameplay revolves around approaching via stealth, unleashing burst damage from behind, and making a quick escape. Upon entering Concealment, Assassin can initiate attacks with Ambush or Shadow Strike, deal burst damage using skills like Quick Slice and Flash Slice, and utilize Shadow Step or Smoke Bomb to reposition or disengage from combat.
A defining characteristic of Assassin is the critical importance of positioning. Some of the class's attacks must be launched from the target's flank or rear, requiring players to constantly monitor the boss's or enemy's orientation and maintain their offensive output from specific positions.
At the same time, the class has limited innate defense and a low margin for error; it relies heavily on dodging, repositioning, and disengage skills when facing high-damage abilities. A single misstep, a poorly timed dodge, or even network lag can interrupt a planned burst rotation or land the player in immediate danger.
Consequently, Assassin is a melee class characterized by high mobility, high burst damage, and demanding mechanical skill. Players new to AION 2 will need to invest time in mastering combat mechanics, dodge timing, and positioning. However, if you are willing to tackle the steeper learning curve, the class offers a distinctive, authentic assassin-style combat experience.
Overall, each of the eight classes has a clearly defined combat role, and there is no single best choice; what truly matters is finding a class that aligns with your playstyle and preferred game pace. Launch Scale Test beginning on September 17 offers a low-stakes opportunity to experiment; it is well worth trying out a few classes that interest you to get a feel for the actual combat mechanics before deciding on your main class for the global launch.

Aion 2 Global Version Focuses on PC | Platform Differences, Graphics and Subscription Changes
After nearly a year of preparation, the global version of Aion 2 is set to launch officially on October 5, with Founder's Pack owners gaining early access starting September 30.
As a quintessential Korean MMO, Aion 2 has undergone significant overhauls as the developers aim to align it with long-standing titles like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV. The global version will focus exclusively on PC and minimize pay-to-win elements.

Aion 2 Platforms
The global version of Aion 2 will currently be available only on Steam and their own PURPLE platform, with no mobile support. This version will operate independently and include the optimization improvements introduced to Korean server over the past year, although its progression will be somewhat behind and will begin with Season 1.
The developers explained that this decision was made based on localization strategies developed with partners in regions such as North America and Europe. At present, the official team has no plans to release a mobile version outside Asia.
Although Aion 2 global version does not support mobile devices, it is not strictly PC-exclusive. Aion 2 already supports controller input on Korean and Taiwanese servers. Although official button mapping has not yet been implemented, players can simply connect a controller and play the game.
The official team also confirmed during a livestream that a console release will be introduced in the future. However, it will not launch alongside the global version, and it is expected to arrive on consoles around six months to one year later.
Differences Between Global Version and Korean Server
Graphics
In terms of hardware platforms, the global version and Korean server will offer the same visual performance on PC. In an update released on July 15, 2026, Aion 2's Korean server officially upgraded its built-in DLSS support to version 4.5, and the development team has also confirmed that it is working with NVIDIA on the next-generation DLSS 5 technology.
DLSS 5 is currently one of the most advanced graphics optimization technologies. Simply put, it uses AI to re-render visuals, and anyone following this technology has likely already seen the leaked information about the improvements DLSS 5 could bring to various games.
When it comes to graphics enhancement technology, Korean server may serve as a testing ground for these features. Once they become stable, they could then be introduced to the global version.
Mobile graphics, meanwhile, are already compressed and are far behind PC version in visual quality, making it even less likely that these technologies will be applied to mobile devices.
Subscription

The subscription system also differs between the global version and Korean server. First, it is important to clarify the game's business model. Aion 2 is a completely Free-to-Play game rather than a mandatory monthly-subscription MMO like World of Warcraft or FFXIV.
This means that the entire game can be downloaded and played for free, with no content locked behind a subscription.
Free players can access all Classes, all Dungeons, all PvP content, and life systems such as crafting and pets.
Even without a subscription, players can experience all of the game's core content, and the subscription is not mandatory. Its main function is to unlock Auction House and Trading Market, allowing players to exchange AION2 Kinah for Quna.
After subscribing, players will also receive more loot rewards when completing Dungeons and recover more Energy for Dungeon settlement, which improves overall farming efficiency. For players who want to participate deeply in the economy system or trade equipment and materials, this is an essential feature.
Korean server and global version also differ in their subscription services. Korean server offers multiple subscription tiers. Although the subscription fees on Korean server have already been reduced, they are still higher than the global server's USD 15 subscription.
In addition, wings on Korean server provide stat bonuses through their appearance, while wings on the global server will serve purely as cosmetic items without additional stats.
How to Play Aion 2 on PC?
When Aion 2 launches globally, players in every region will not necessarily be able to access the game. Below is a detailed list of the blocked countries and regions, along with an analysis of the reasons behind these restrictions and possible solutions.
Countries and Regions Where Aion 2 Is Unavailable
According to Steam database package information, players from the following 16 countries and regions will not be able to obtain the relevant Aion 2 package on Steam and therefore cannot play the game normally:
- Aruba
- Belarus
- Belgium
- Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba
- China Mainland
- Cuba
- Curaçao
- Hong Kong
- Macau
- Netherlands
- Russian Federation
- Sint Maarten, Dutch part
- South Korea
- Syria
- Taiwan
- Vietnam
The reasons for these regional restrictions vary. South Korea and Taiwan, for example, already received their respective local versions in November 2025. As a result, players in these regions cannot access the global version through Steam, which is a normal form of regional restriction.
Belgium and the Netherlands have strict regulations concerning gambling, while Aion 2 contains paid mechanics similar to loot boxes, which may conflict with local laws. This is not unique to Aion 2, as many games containing randomized paid items face restrictions in these two countries.
Countries such as Cuba, Syria, and the Russian Federation are subject to international sanctions or trade restrictions. Game publishers generally comply with these regulations, which is why these regions are blocked.
The reasons for blocking other countries and regions have not been explicitly announced; they may relate to publishing agreements, local partnership arrangements, or specific market strategies.
PURPLE Platform
Although Steam blocks 16 regions, Aion 2 will also be released on PURPLE platform. PURPLE is the official team's global gaming platform, and it is currently unclear whether PURPLE will enforce the same regional restrictions as Steam.
If PURPLE does not block these regions, players from Belgium, the Netherlands, China, and other affected areas may be able to play normally through PURPLE platform.
If your region is blocked on Steam, it is worth keeping an eye on information regarding PURPLE platform. Once the game launches, trying to access Aion 2 through PURPLE may provide an alternative to Steam's regional restrictions.
One of Aion 2's biggest strengths is its impressive visual quality, so focusing on the PC platform will undoubtedly allow the game to make better use of that advantage. Overall, this is a very sensible decision.

AION 2 Global Servers Dungeon Gameplay Changes | Expeditions, Gear Progression and Stigma Slots
Aion 2's global servers will officially launch on October 5, and the game will also utilize DLSS 4.5 technology to deliver improved visual quality.
The official team held a global livestream, showcasing the global version's Dungeon system, gear progression, and class gameplay through actual dungeon runs. Let's take a look at the specific changes.

Online Test
AION 2 will hold a large-scale launch test from September 17 to 18, available simultaneously on Steam and the official platform. Players can preload the client on September 16.
During the test, the level cap will be set at Level 37, with 6 hours of playtime available each day. Players will be able to experience the early and mid portions of Main Story Quest, as well as some Expeditions.
The shop and trading system will be disabled during the test, so you will temporarily be unable to use Aion 2 Kinah to trade for any items. This is intended to let players focus on gameplay and character customization. New players are encouraged to take their time, experience the main story, explore the continent, and prepare for the full launch.
Class
The livestream confirmed the 8 classes available at the global launch. New presets will also be available during the online test and on the global servers, while players can customize their character's appearance. AION 2 offers extensive character customization options, giving you plenty of freedom to create a style you like.
Tanks
- Gladiator: Capable of absorbing heavy damage while also providing solid damage output.
- Templar: A defensive class focused on blocking attacks and providing buffs to the team.
Damage Dealers
- Assassin: Melee physical damage dealer. Ranger: Ranged physical damage dealer.
- Sorcerer: Ranged magical damage dealer.
- Spirit Master: A magical class that can summon elemental spirits to assist in combat.
Healers and Support
- Cleric: A traditional healer.
- Chanter: A support class that provides buffs while also dealing respectable damage.
Expeditions System
The official team confirmed during the livestream that Expeditions will offer only 3 difficulty tiers, 1-star, 2-star, and 3-star, during both the online test and Season 1 of the global launch. Higher-tier Heroic difficulty will not be available. Expeditions will gradually unlock as players level up:
- Level 20: Krao Cave
- Level 28: Urugugu Canyon
- Level 35: Fire Temple
- Level 45: Draupnir
Each dungeon has 2 modes, Exploration Mode and Conquest Mode. Exploration Mode essentially serves as a tutorial experience, with NPCs introducing the mechanics while providing basic gear as rewards.
Conquest Mode, on the other hand, is the core endgame experience. It features higher difficulty and more complex mechanics. The livestream demonstration showcased Conquest Mode.

Difficulty and Gear
Dungeons are divided into 3 difficulty tiers. Players are recommended to progress gradually based on Item Level. The 1-star difficulty requires around 800 Item Level to enter, while 3-star difficulty is recommended for players with 2,200 Item Level or higher.
For Season 1 of the global version, the development team has decided not to add Heroic gear. The goal is to slow down gear progression and prevent players from focusing too heavily on chasing the highest Item Level at the expense of the overall gameplay experience. Therefore, dungeons such as Fire Temple will only drop standard weapons, with no Heroic variants available.
Party and Raid Sizes
Unlike Asian server, the global server has adjusted the sizes of dungeon parties and raid groups to improve team coordination.
The party size for Expeditions has increased from 4 players to 5, while Sanctuary and raid groups have increased from 8 players to 10.
The global version also allows Elyos and Asmodian players from the 2 opposing factions to team up and enter dungeons together. Players who prefer to stay faithful to the faction system can also enable the option to match only with members of their own faction.
Skill Changes
In Aion 2, Stigma refers to a special character skill system. Stigmas can be equipped by characters to provide additional skills or enhanced effects, forming an important part of character progression. At the global launch, players will be able to equip a maximum of 4 Stigma skills, compared with 6 in previous versions.
Stigma skills are among the most important defining abilities for each class, and their selection directly determines your build.
For a DPS character, a typical 6-Stigma setup might include 2 damage-increasing buffs, 1 defensive or survival skill, and 3 damage-dealing skills. Under the 4-Stigma limit, if you still insist on bringing all 3 damage-increasing buffs, only 1 damage skill can remain, significantly reducing burst potential. If you give up the survival skill instead, the risk of being killed increases considerably.
This means you have to sacrifice either survivability or burst damage rather than having both, and you may also need to adjust your Stigma setup dynamically according to different dungeons and bosses.
This restriction is expected to remain only during Season 1. Season 2 may introduce additional Stigma slots alongside the new Brawler class.
