How Do You Build a High-Damage Chanter for PvE in Aion 2?

Chanter is a powerful support class in Aion 2 that also has respectable damage potential. Some players assume it is similar to Scholar in FFXIV, but the two classes are actually very different.

While Chanter provides the party with powerful sustained buffs (Mantras) and healing, it can also deal considerable melee damage, making it a versatile all-rounder. For PvE players, however, support utility is not the main priority. The goal is to maximize damage output.

Macro Setup

Your basic attack is Onslaught, which requires repeatedly clicking the left mouse button. At the same time, hold down the key for Incandescent Blow, a resource-consuming skill, throughout the entire process.

By setting up a Macro hotkey, these two skills will naturally alternate, creating a dark afterimage effect.

In the early game, simply putting Onslaught and Incandescent Blow into a Macro is enough to get started. However, as soon as you have the necessary skills, you should add Spinning Strike, Impactful Crush, and Dark Crush to Macro.

Dark Crush should be placed at the bottom because it has the highest priority, while Incandescent Blow belongs at the top because it can be cast repeatedly. If it is not placed at the top, skills with cooldowns may never get a chance to activate.

How Dark Crush Triggers?

Dark Crush is triggered by ranged skills, namely Spinning Strike and Impactful Crush. These skills open a window during which you can repeatedly cast Dark Crush.

Keep in mind that Dark Crush has a cooldown until you reach level 16 and equip it in Specialty Slot.

Before that point, there is no need to make major changes to your setup, as Spinning Strike and Impactful Crush may activate simultaneously. You can also choose to trigger one of them manually to avoid wasting the activation window.

Dark Crush has a 5-second cooldown. If it fails to trigger, you will need to wait another 5 seconds before using additional skills.

Specialties

All three Specialty Slots require their corresponding skills to reach level 20 before they can be unlocked. The highest priorities are Dark Crush, Spinning Strike, and Onslaught. Ideally, you should also level Incandescent Blow to 20, as this provides an additional slot and increases your damage.

Onslaught

The main priority is the option that reduces Spinning Strike’s cooldown by 1 second. Because the more frequently you can use Spinning Strike, the more opportunities you have to trigger Dark Crush.

Next, take the additional 1-second cooldown reduction for Spinning Strike, followed by Stormchain. At level 20, choose Multi-hit, or Life Absorption if you need more healing.

You should also take Chain Chain skill for Onslaught, as it can significantly increase your damage. At level 20, you can choose either Life Absorption or Multi-hit.

Spinning Strike

For Spinning Strike, prioritize cooldown reduction and the option that grants 20% additional damage against fewer targets. At level 16, choose the option that ignores Block and Evasion and guarantees a Critical Hit, while removing the 20% damage bonus against fewer targets. Once you reach level 20, you can take all three options again.

Dark Crush

In the early game, choose the option that guarantees a Critical Hit. At level 12, take Piercing Strike chain skill for its higher damage. At level 16, select the option that removes Dark Crush’s cooldown.

Incandescent Blow

For Incandescent Blow, choose the option that increases damage against fewer targets, as this is particularly effective against bosses. Afterward, you can select the options that ignore Block and Evasion and make attacks count as Multi-hits to gain additional damage. Before level 16, choosing Block option is also a good way to improve survivability.

Rushing Smash

Leveling Rushing Smash to 12 as early as possible is extremely useful because killing an enemy resets its cooldown, making it ideal for farming mobs. As long as you keep attacking enemies, you can continuously dash toward the next group. Ideally, you should also take the final perk that makes attacks count as Multi-hits.

Gust Rampage

For Gust Rampage, you only need Life Absorption for healing. Under Recovery, choose the additional consecutive-use option, allowing you to cast it twice with stacking effects.

Next, take the increased HP recovery option. This 5% bonus accounts for roughly the same proportion of your total healing and becomes more valuable when the target has higher HP. At level 20, cooldown reduction is better than increased duration because it allows you to restore HP more frequently.

Tremor Crush

This skill does not really need to go beyond level 8. You only need the increased range option. If you have extra points, you can invest in Multi-hit to increase damage, while the skill’s level itself also contributes to its damage output.

Passive Skills

Wind’s Promise is the most essential passive skill. When combined with Guardian Blessing, its effect is increased by 1.5 times.

Attack Preparation provides a solid damage boost, while Impact Hit grants Double Chance, making it one of the more valuable offensive attributes.

Stigma Skills

Stigmas are the real source of this build. Undefeated Mantra is a toggleable, permanent party buff, and its effects apply to the entire party, not just yourself. Therefore, it should be leveled to 20 regardless of your build.

Guardian Blessing should be equipped at level 15 in almost every situation. In theory, you can replace it with another skill if you are going for a pure support build.

Power of the Storm already provides a decent boost at level 5, although level 20 is even better. It cannot maintain full uptime, but it is useful at the start of a fight or during important burst windows.

Sprint Mantra is very helpful for healing and also provides movement speed, but it is relatively low in priority. You can replace it with another Stigma skill if needed.

Gear and Stats

You can either craft gear using Aion 2 Kinah and materials or rely on equipment drops from dungeons. I recommend crafting rings first in the early game because they come with an additional stat line, which means one more skill level.

As for attributes, prioritize offensive stats. Almost every piece of gear should have Attack. For defensive gear, try to get passive skills such as Wind’s Promise and Attack Preparation whenever possible.

Daevanion Boards

Daevanion Boards can increase the levels of active or passive skills. However, if you are certain that you will not use a particular skill, there is no reason to waste points on it. Instead, invest those points in the offensive nodes on the board.

Your first goal should be to unlock Rushing Smash on every board to ensure you have its cooldown reset effect for farming. After that, prioritize Onslaught, Spinning Strike, Incandescent Blow, and Dark Crush, following the same approach across all boards. Once these essential skills are covered, move on to valuable orange nodes and other offensive attributes.

There is still plenty of room to improve this Aion 2 Chanter PvE build, but reaching its full potential requires time and effort. Collecting pets, using consumables, and making other optimizations can all help push your damage ceiling even higher.
