While you progress through the standard Racers event and its main leaderboard, Hold the Lead tracks your team's performance in real-time whenever you hold the top spot. It records exactly when you took the lead and how long you managed to maintain it.

At the conclusion of the current Racers event, Monopoly Go calculates rewards based on your team's combined performance across both the standard points leaderboard and Hold the Lead leaderboard.

Note that your team must hold first place for a continuous period of at least one minute to register a valid Hold the Lead result. Any lead lasting less than a minute does not count toward the total, though any full minutes accumulated previously are preserved.

What are the benefits of Hold the Lead?

In previous Monopoly Go Racers events, the dominant strategy was to stay low-key early on, hovering around 3rd or 4th place, while stockpiling tokens. Teams would then use the double-medal mechanic during the final race to stage a sudden, decisive comeback.
