ARC Raiders Carry Run

Before October arrives, ARC Raiders is unlikely to receive any major updates. The good news is that we only have to wait around two months, and there is a chance we could hear some good news from the official team as early as September.

The updates so far have been rather weak. For example, Patch 1.41.0 only brought an outfit update and a small hotfix. Let's take a look at what it actually added before discussing the problems the game is currently facing.

Patch 1.41.0 Content

Vulpine Outfit

The main addition in ARC Raiders Patch 1.41.0 is two new color variants for Vulpine Outfit: green/camo and black.

Overall, that is everything included in the shop update. There are no other new skins or additional item updates, leaving the shop page looking rather empty.

If you already own the outfit, the color variants will be added to your inventory automatically, and there is no need to restart the game.

Bug Fixes

The patch also mentions that a small hotfix will be deployed for Steam players, with the goal of fixing several crashes and errors that occur when launching the game. The official team also thanked players for their feedback on these issues.

The update is around 700 MB, so the installation should not take too long. However, it is disappointing that there are no further details. There is not even a specific list of which issues were fixed. That is certainly a major disappointment.

Problems Facing ARC Raiders

To be honest, this small patch will probably disappoint many players because ARC Raiders still has plenty of issues waiting to be addressed. This update could have included a large number of quality-of-life improvements and various bug fixes, yet none of that arrived this week. This is certainly a sign that ARC Raiders is going through a low point.

Cheating and Duplication Exploits

Since ARC Raiders launched, Aimbot, Wall Hacks, item duplication, and various exploit-related issues have continued to trouble the player community.

The game is still being affected by problems related to cheating, duping, and similar exploits.

The official team has responded by banning tens of thousands of accounts and introducing new detection tools. Repeat offenders have also received bans. However, many players are still complaining that the game remains difficult to play normally, suggesting a gap between the issues the official team claims to have addressed and the problems players are actually experiencing.

Lack of a PvE Mode

Many players have repeatedly called for a PvE mode, but the official team has never responded to these requests. As a result, many players have already quit or are considering leaving the game.

At the moment, the game is built around a high-pressure PvP-only experience, with every match carrying high risks and high rewards. For many players, this constant tension becomes exhausting rather than exciting.

What makes this even more disappointing is that the developers are not incapable of creating PvE content. A PvE mode already exists in some version of the game, but it has not been made available to most players. This is not a technical impossibility, but rather a choice that has yet to be made.

If the October update still does not introduce a PvE mode, the game could lose part of its player base for good. That does not mean the game will collapse completely, but it will certainly have an impact on its revenue.

Slow Update Pace

ARC Raiders has gone a long time without receiving a new map. Although new environmental conditions and a small number of new ARC enemies have occasionally been added, there has been no substantial expansion of the overall experience. That is far from enough to keep players motivated to log in.

The official team is expected to release a major update in October, and hopefully it will bring some fundamental changes. However, there is also reason for concern because the update window coincides with the release window for GTA 6 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

If players have already left by then, the challenge for the developer will not simply be retaining the existing player base. It will have to win players back from two major annual blockbuster releases.

Lack of Endgame Content

ARC Raiders offers a great experience on the way toward the endgame, but once players reach the endgame, there is essentially a huge void.

After players have obtained the gear they want, optimized their loadouts, and learned every important location on the maps, there is very little left to motivate them to keep playing. The game lacks a meaningful long-term goal that can continue driving players forward.

Other Extraction and Looter games have addressed this problem by introducing systems such as Prestige Systems and Seasonal Ranks, giving veteran players reasons to keep logging in rather than relying solely on their enjoyment of the core gameplay.

ARC Raiders has yet to provide an answer to this problem. For a game that has been operating for this long, the issue is becoming increasingly apparent.

Although the developers of ARC Raiders are working hard on new content, they seem to be overlooking player feedback entirely, which is not a healthy signal for the game. An update as underwhelming as Patch 1.41.0 will inevitably leave some players dissatisfied.

Although ARC Raiders is experiencing player attrition, its large-scale PvP experience remains effective, and the matchmaking system has improved. Although ARC Raiders Phantom Targets Part 1 provides ample time to complete, many players have been struggling with how to best utilize Leaper Pulse Units to deal damage to enemies. While achieving the 1000-point target seems easy, it actually requires careful planning of each use of ARC Raiders Leaper Pulse Units to maximize damage.

Leaper Pulse Unit Acquisition Method

To obtain Leaper Pulse Units in the game, you cannot craft them using materials at the regular workbench. The only way is to actively kill ARC enemies called Leapers.

Experienced players know that after killing a Leaper, you should actively search for its eyes for a higher chance of obtaining Leaper Pulse Unit.

Second, search its four legs and other remains.

As an Epic item, players must remember to quickly loot Leaper Pulse Unit after a kill to avoid being beaten to it by other players.

If you're short on ammo, prioritize hunting Leapers in this Phantom Targets Part 1 mission. Accumulate enough Leaper Pulse Units before attempting the damage accumulation mission to avoid being forced to stop due to running out of ammo.

Priority Target

Most players who successfully achieved the 1000 damage target using Leaper Pulse Unit focused on Bombardier.

This is because Bombardier not only has a large body and a relatively slow movement pace, but its underside and the prominent yellow battery pack area to the north are particularly sensitive to Leaper Pulse Unit damage detection.

If Leaper Pulse Unit's explosion center perfectly aligns with these weak points, a single throw can easily deal 300 to 450 points of damage.

With good luck, you might even fill the quest bar with just two uses of Leaper Pulse Unit.

Conversely, throwing Leaper Pulse Unit at targets like Bastion or Shredder requires extra effort to break their legs or lure them into confined spaces, and the damage output is inconsistent.

It's quite possible that even if you throw three Leaper Pulse Units at Bastion in a row, you'll only get around 100 points of damage, greatly wasting the hard-earned Leaper Pulse Unit.

Therefore, Bombardier is the primary target for efficiently and consistently completing the 1000-point cumulative damage quest.

How to throw?

Many first-time players waste a lot of ARC Raiders Leaper Pulse Units with minimal results because they overlook the device's inherent throwing limitations: low trajectory, short airtime, and small effective kill radius.

This means that any attempt to throw from five steps away at a safe distance will result in significantly reduced damage because the explosion's center deviates from ARC enemy's core.

You might even end up with only 150 damage after three consecutive long-range Leaper Pulse Unit throws.

In this situation, players must immediately adjust their strategy, rushing directly under Bombardier's legs and throwing Leaper Pulse Unit vertically into the gap at the bottom of its abdomen. Only then can you achieve a noticeable damage score.

Therefore, before throwing, you must quickly run or slide sideways to shorten the distance to Bombardier until you can clearly see the bottom of its abdomen before forcefully throwing Leaper Pulse Unit.

Only in this way can you ensure the explosion completely covers the enemy's vulnerable areas, thus maximizing the output of each Leaper Pulse Unit.

Supportive Measures

Of course, rushing directly into Bombardier's range to throw Leaper Pulse Unit is dangerous, because although this enemy is slow-moving, its turning and counterattacks can still put unprepared Raiders in danger.

Therefore, players need a combination of tactics to assist their throwing and kills.

First, you can carry a Lure Grenade and throw it behind or to the side of Bombardier before you start throwing, attracting it to turn in that direction, allowing you to safely get behind it and giving you valuable aiming time.

Second, if you can carry a high-penetration weapon like Hullcracker or Anvil, attack Bombardier's legs first to prevent it from suddenly moving or turning around and disrupting your rhythm when using Leaper Pulse Unit.

Another method is to pre-place Explosive Mine or Jolt Mine along Bombardier's daily patrol route. The moment an enemy steps on the trap and is briefly damaged, you can throw Leaper Pulse Unit under them.

This way, utilizing the chain reaction created by the mine detonation and Leaper Pulse Unit explosion, your single throw damage can even exceed the expected 1000 points, instantly completing the mission requirement.

Practical Summary

To efficiently use Leaper Pulse Unit to complete the 1000-point damage challenge in ARC Raiders Phantom Targets Part 1, the most sensible approach is to focus all your efforts on Bombardier.

Using the throwing methods and techniques described above, combined with mine traps, you can easily complete the mission in just two or three tries.

Crucially, don't forget to keep an eye on your Leaper Pulse Unit inventory in your backpack.

Before throwing, it's better to spend a few extra seconds adjusting your position and confirming the landing point than to throw hastily. Otherwise, if the distance is too far, or the angle is off, resulting in less than ideal damage, it wastes resources and prolongs the mission completion time.

Finally, remember that each Bombardier's spawn point and path are different, so if your first attempt doesn't achieve the desired damage, redeploy at a different spawn point.

Stay patient and calm, and you will surely be able to successfully complete this test in ARC Raiders within the limited number of Leaper Pulse Units!
