Palworld is an open-world game centered around Pals, where players can battle and capture them to build bases, ride, and fight. 1.0 update on July 10th brought a new main storyline and a series of world map adjustments, most importantly - the addition of 72 new Pals!

In the vast world of Palworld, owning a powerful flying mount can dramatically change the gameplay experience. This article will guide you through the most worthwhile flying mounts to unlock in Palworld version 1.0, from slowest to fastest.

Best Flying Passive Skills

Before we delve into the mounts, it's essential to understand which passive skills significantly boost flight speed. Each Pal can have 1 to 4 passive skills. For flying mounts, focus on the following skills that provide significant movement speed bonuses:

• Nimble: Movement speed increased by 10%
• Runner: Movement speed increased by 20%
• Swift: Movement speed increased by 30%
• Legend: Attack +20%, Defense +20%, Movement speed increased by 15%

Legend is a passive skill exclusive to Legendary Paladins, naturally possessed by Legendary Paladins like Jetragon and Frostallion. Through breeding or capturing, you can stack skills like Swift and Runner onto the same Paladin, further increasing its speed. Now let's look at some Paladins suitable as flying mounts.

No.6 Ragnahawk

• Unlock Level: 33
• Running Speed: 800
• Sprint Speed: 1300
• Partner Skill: Flame Wing - While mounted, the player's attacks inflict fire damage.

Ragnahawk is the first truly competitive flying mount in Palworld. Before Ragnahawk, while Nitewing and Vanwyrm could fly, their speed was rather lackluster. Once you acquire Ragnahawk, you can finally easily reach previously inaccessible areas, such as unassailable Base Locations.

More importantly, Ragnahawk's partner skill, Flame Wing, inflicts fire damage on your attacks and slightly increases your attack power. It also possesses powerful active skills like Flare Arrow and Sand Tornado, dealing considerable damage with short cooldowns.

Ragnahawk roams near Obsidian in the southwest of the map and is the most worthwhile flying mount to capture in the mid-game.

No.5 Selyne

• Partner Skill: Celestial Darkness - Increases your Neutral and Dark attack damage by 15%-30% while mounted.

Selyne is essentially an upgraded version of Ragnahawk, with significant improvements in speed and active skills. The best way to capture Selyne is to progress through the main questline to Gilded City Ruins in the World Tree area.

Another method is to participate in Meteorite event in Sakurajima, where Selyne has a chance to appear after a meteorite lands. However, this method is more tedious and unreliable.

Selyne's basic skills naturally incorporate Neutral and Dark attributes. For players using hybrid attribute builds, mastering this flying mount's skills will provide a significant advantage. Players can freely switch between skills like Dark Cannon and Holy Burst, while also enjoying a substantial attribute damage bonus.

No.4 Frostallion

• Unlock Level: 48
• Running Speed: 1200
• Dash Speed: 1800
• Partner Skill: Ice Steed - While mounted, the player's attacks are converted to ice and enhanced.

Although Frostallion's base speed isn't a huge improvement over Selyne, its built-in Legend passive provides a 15% movement speed bonus, and Ice Emperor provides a 20% ice damage bonus, making its overall performance far exceed its stats.

Frostallion is a legendary Pal in Palworld, meaning it only appears in one specific location on the map - east of Land of Absolute Zero.

No.3 Frostallion Noct

Frostallion Noct is Dark counterpart of Frostallion. Its unlock level and speed are the same, but it possesses superior defensive and damage skills, replacing ice damage or freezing effects with dark damage and a blinding effect. Its Partner Skill, Black Steed, is similar to Ice Steed - while mounted, the player's attacks are converted to dark and enhanced.

It's worth noting that Frostallion Noct cannot be captured in the wild; you must obtain it through breeding with Helzephyr and Frostallion.

No.2 Panthalus

• Unlock Level: 70
• Running Speed: 3000
• Sprint Speed: 3000
• Partner Skill: Resonant Guardian - When stationed at your base (one per base), it will continuously patrol the skies and bombard any intruders from the air.

Panthalus is also a legendary Paladin. While Jetragon has a faster dash speed, Panthalus maintains a movement speed of 3000 across all terrains - land, sea, and air - making it a truly all-around performer. Furthermore, its defensive capabilities are exceptional, and it possesses a variety of high-damage skills.

You cannot encounter it in the wild; you can only obtain it by progressing through the main quest, defeating Tower Boss Auri, and then speaking to her to trigger Panthalus quest. You need to find four Echobones scattered throughout the map: Marine Echobone, Silent Echobone, Seafoam Echobone, and Tidewind Echobone.

After collecting all Echobones, craft Echoing Flute. Then, use the flute at the altar in Deserted Islet to summon and challenge Panthalus. Panthalus is a level 70 water-type Pal with over 350,000 HP; it is recommended to bring an electric-type Pal to assist in the battle.

No.1 Jetragon

• Unlock Level: 79
• Running Speed: 1700
• Dash Speed: 3300
• Partner Skill: Aerial Missile - Allows continuous missile attacks while riding

Jetragon is undoubtedly the king of speed in Palworld. Its 3300 dash speed leaves all other flying mounts far behind. Riding a Jetragon, large areas of the map will be left behind in seconds. Furthermore, the Jetragon's Shot Attack ranks among the top five in all Pals, and its unique skills like Beam Comet deal extremely high damage, easily crushing many bosses.

Jetragon spawns in Mount Obsidian in the northwestern volcano biome of the map. As it is an extremely powerful level 70 Dragon-element Alpha boss, it is recommended to bring an Ice-attribute Pal to counter it, taking advantage of its elemental weakness.

From Ragnahawk to Jetraagon, each flying mount marks a qualitative leap in freedom of exploration. Jetragon is an extremely powerful Legendary Pal that will help any player fight hard bosses in the final stages of Palworld.

Although difficult, there is a cheese strategy that can make Jetragon relatively easy to capture, combined with a few other tricks and preparations, all of which will be covered in this guide.

Requirements To Capture Jetragon

First off, this is still a level 50 Legendary Pal, so Legendary Spheres will almost certainly be required. These can be unlocked with Level 44 Technology Points and require Pal Metal Ingot besides Cement, Carbon Fiber, and Palladium to craft. And Pal Metal Ingot requires Electric Furnace to manufacture.

Anyway, just to be safe, I recommend bringing many Legendary Spheres, around 50 or more. You can maximize Capture Power by giving Lifmunk Effigies to Statue of Power, which will also greatly increase our chances of success.

Needed Gear

Given that Jetragon is located in Volcano region, we should also be wearing Heat Resistance Accessory and Armor. While this strategy should help us avoid damage, sturdier armor and shields are always better.

Recommended Food

We need a good flying pal and lots of food to feed it. For food, I like to bring Salads because they are light and delicious. I usually need about 25 to 50 Salad per Jetragon capture.

Recommended Pal & Active Skills

For Pal, I really like Suzaku and its fire attack, which can burn Jetragon for relatively high damage. Suzaku is easily found in Sand Dunes region of the northeast. My favorite moves are Ignis Blast, Spirit Fire, and Flare Arrow.

Also, we need to craft a Suzaku Saddle, which can be unlocked with Technology Points at level 40. Sphere Launcher will make it easier for Sphere to hit Jetragon, but it’s not strictly necessary.

Where To Find Jetragon?

Once all our gear and pals were ready, we went back to sleep to make sure we were at the beginning of the day cycle. We can then head to Ruined Fortress City Fast Travel Point and head west.

We should be able to spot Jetragon roaming around a small crater. We need to move a short distance south to a large rocky formation surrounded on two sides by flowing lava.

Jetragon Cheese Strategy

This next part is very important to keep Jetragon stuck and unable to attack us. We need to board Suzaku and wait near the rock wall until Jetragon heads south towards us.

Once we’re close enough, usually outside of the molten spikes that stick out near the dirt road, we can proceed to attack Jetragon with our ranged attacks to start the fight.

We can try to close the distance and use Dragon Burst attack. Once it gets close to the wall of the rocky formation, we should be able to get Jetragon stuck by flying to the top of the rock.

Jetragon would get stuck flying on the wall in front of us instead of flying around us to where we were. From here, we can ride Suzaku and start attacking Jetragon with ranged attacks. If necessary, we can fly a little higher to maintain a line of sight with the target. When our physical strength is exhausted, we need to return to the ground to restore it.

Burn & Other Status Effects Explained

Our fire attack should initially put Jetragon in a burning state, dealing about 50 damage per tick.

In Palworld, it seems like each additional application of a debuff requires more effort. Therefore, as the battle continues, the duration of burn applied to Jetragon will become longer and longer.

That being said, we should eventually be able to wear down Jetragon to where it can be captured before nightfall. Along the way, we made sure our Suzaku ate Salad.

When & How To Catch Jetragon?

When around 3000 health points remain, Jetragon will physically react to damage, becoming briefly dazed. At this point, our Legendary Spheres should have a capture chance of 2% or higher, so we can start capturing.

Doing this will free Jetragon from being stuck. Then we need to continuously attack it with Legendary Spheres immediately after it breaks away to prevent it from attacking us. After two successful wobbles, we should have our Jetragon.

Benefits Of Jetragon & Superfast Jetragon From Breeding

A Jetragon is great on its own, as it will help us tackle Pseudo-Legendary Pal Bosses on the map, all of which are above level 40. This is true even if we are below level 50.

At this point we can make Jetragon’s Saddle or Missile Launcher. If we could get two Jetragons, one Male and one Female, then they could be bred for desirable traits to create the ultimate Jetragon.
