WoW MoP Classic Elegon Boss Fight: How To Navigate All Three Phases?
Posted: Jul 31, 2025 Views: 138
Even if you played the original Mists of Pandaria Classic back in 2012, it’s hard to resist experiencing its remastered version 13 years later! Not only is the server’s uniquely Chinese aesthetic intriguing, but MoP Classic has been thoroughly optimized.
As in the past, Mists of Pandaria Classic will release phases gradually, unlocking all playable content within each phase. The latest phase to open is Mogu’shan Vaults raid.
We’ve previously provided an overview of all the bosses in this raid in another article. While veteran WoW players may be familiar with the specific boss fight mechanics, newcomers to MoP Classic may still struggle.
This time, we’ll walk you through the three phases of the encounter with Elegon, the fifth boss in the raid, to help you navigate this encounter.
Elegon Boss Fight Overview
In all Elegon boss fight phases, the number of rounds your team must complete depends on everyone’s DPS. Regardless of your team’s strength, you’ll need at least two rounds to complete the fight.
Note: Entering Energy Vortex floor, the boss, will afflict you with Touch of the Titans, increasing your damage dealt and healing received by 50%. Another Overcharged effect increases your damage taken by 5% for each stack. Both effects last for the entire fight and can only be removed by escaping Energy Vortex.
Furthermore, defeating a single boss won’t yield any rewards, so you’ll need to persevere to defeat Elegon and the final Mogu’shan Vaults boss, Jan-Xi, to obtain WoW MoP Classic gold or gear, as well as other rare drops.
Phase 1
At the start of the fight, Elegon will initially be located in the center of the arena, periodically casting Celestial Breath in a cone in front of him. Next, until his health drops below 50%, he’ll repeatedly cast Materialize Protector, summoning a Celestial Protector to attack you.
Celestial Protector will cast Arcing Energy, attacking two random players in 10-player difficulty and seven random players in 25-player difficulty. If hit, you’ll be affected by Closed Circuit, reducing healing received by 50% for 20 seconds.
When Celestial Protector’s health reaches 25%, it gains Stability Flux, periodically damaging everyone. Upon death, it will damage everyone through Total Annihilation.
Furthermore, Celestial Protector may trigger Destabilizing Energies during the encounter, resulting in death if hit twice. If Total Annihilation hits fewer than three players, a Catastrophic Anomaly will trigger, instantly wiping out the entire raid.
Meanwhile, if no players are nearby, Elegon himself will use Grasping Energy Tendrils to grab everyone and dealing Arcane damage. When Elegon’s health reaches 50%, he becomes unstable and casts Radiating Energies, dealing pulsating Arcane damage.
This phase has two loops. The first ends when Elegon reaches 85% health, and the fight repeats until the boss’s health reaches 50%, ending again and entering Phase 2.
Phase 2
During this phase, the boss stops attacking and enters a weakened state, while also generating Energy Charges. The stronger your raid team’s DPS, the sooner Phase 2 ends.
To achieve this, you and your raid must ensure your DPS is sufficient to destroy each wave of Energy Charges, and focusing on destroying more while also damaging Elegon.
During Phase 2, the boss will continuously cast Draw Power, which increases Elegon’s damage taken by 10%. This effect accumulates, so you must seize this opportunity to weaken him as much as possible.
Also during this phase, you must be sure to exit Energy Vortex to eliminate the negative effects; otherwise, you risk death from the cumulative damage.
Once an Energy Charge leaves Energy Vortex and reaches one of Empyreal Focuses, the fight enters Phase 3.
Phase 3
At the start of Phase 3, Elegon becomes immune to all damage and begins by shattering the ground beneath his feet. You must dodge quickly, or you’ll plummet to your death at the start of Phase 3.
To win the final phase, you must survive while destroying all six Empyreal Focuses. Each Focus destroyed grants the boss an Overloaded bonus, increasing its damage and attack speed by 20%.
In addition, Elegon periodically casts Unstable Energy, dealing Arcane damage to the entire raid, and Energy Cascade at random players. If hit, you’ll likely die from the massive Arcane damage.
Another boss ability worth keeping an eye out for is Cosmic Spark, which is only resistant to tank roles on the team.
After destroying all Empyreal Focuses in phase 3, the boss fight will return to Phase 1 and continue until you deplete Elegon’s health in a later phase of the loop.
Battle Strategies
This boss is undoubtedly challenging because of its lengthy duration. If your raid’s DPS isn’t sufficient, this encounter could easily take several hours. To maximize efficiency, here are some recommendations for different roles on your team:
- Tanks: Ensure Celestial Protectors don’t explode in your party.
- Healers: Heal allies affected by Destabilizing Energies promptly and try to cover the entire raid during Phase 3.
- Damage Dealers: Save your big cleave abilities for when Energy Charges are spawning.
