  The Legacy System is an account-wide, long-term horizontal progression system. Since each character can invest a maximum of 16 Legacy Perks, careful planning of your build path is essential. During the beta, you can experiment with the three Legacy Perk trees at no cost, test different routes, gauge the efficiency of earning Legacy Challenges, and determine which perks are best suited for your main character versus future alts.

  What is Legacy System?

  

  Legacy System is a new, account-bound, long-term progression system in WoW Forever. Players earn Legacy Points by completing Legacy Challenges and then invest these points into three Legacy Perk trees - Professions, Adventure, and Resourcefulness - to unlock various long-term bonuses for their characters.

  Unlocking the Legacy System is straightforward: you can unlock it by reaching level 25 with your first character, raising any non-gathering primary profession to skill level 150, or fully exploring the world map. Once unlocked, you can access Legacy System interface using the default hotkey Y.

  It is important to distinguish between the two: Legacy Points are account-wide currency used to purchase Legacy Perks, while Legacy Perks are the specific, long-term bonuses granted to individual characters upon spending those points.

  In other words, points earned on the account can be used across different characters, yet each character can choose a unique Perk path based on their specific role. This design positions Legacy System as a feature centered on account-wide accumulation and character-specific customization.

  Six Categories of Legacy Challenges

  

  Legacy Challenges in Forever function similarly to the achievement systems found in other versions of the game; however, completing them directly awards Legacy Points used for character progression within Legacy System. There are currently 65 challenges, divided into six categories:

  1. Classes (27 points): Earn 1 point each for reaching levels 25, 45, and 60 with every class. 
  2. Tradeskills (18 points): Earn 1 point each for reaching skill levels 150, 225, and 300 in any non-gathering primary profession.
  3. PvP (12 points): Earn 5 points total for reaching Ranks 3, 7, 10, 13, and 14; 4 points for reaching Exalted reputation with every Battleground faction; and 3 points for completing the Field of Honor PvP Season's Journey tasks for weeks 4, 7, and 10.
  4. Adventure (2 points): Earn 1 point each for fully exploring the world map and completing Lord Valthalak dungeon set questline on a single character.
  5. Dungeons (3 points): Earn 1 point each for defeating the final bosses of all dungeons in the level ranges 15-25, 26-45, and 46-60.
  6. Raids (3 points): Earn 1 point each for defeating Onyxia, all 13 bosses in Hyjal Summit, and all 8 bosses in Barrow Deeps.

  Three Legacy Perk Trees

  Professions

  Professions tree focuses on profession skill progression, resource gathering, economic gains, and lifestyle professions.

  Regarding profession progression, Working Overtime increases the chance of gaining a Tradeskill Skill Point by 4% per point (up to a maximum of 20% with 5 points); this applies to all tradeskills, including class-specific skills like Lockpicking. Dedicated Study provides a daily cooldown ability to further boost Tradeskill progress; if all Tradeskills have already reached level 300, this ability instead grants free Elemental Essences.

  For resource gathering, Bountiful Harvest increases the chance of obtaining extra scarce materials while Mining, Herbalism, or Skinning by 20% per point, reaching a maximum of 100% with 5 points.

  Regarding economic gains, Bartering reduces the gold price of items purchased from vendors by 2% per point, up to a maximum of 10%. Performance Bonus offers a chance to earn more Merchant's Favor from the Azeroth Commerce Authority or Durotar Supply and Logistics—two new factions that are key sources for Legacy Tradeskill activities.

  In the realm of lifestyle professions, Master Chef gives cooking recipes a chance to produce extra finished products, increasing the yield chance by 10% per point up to a maximum of 50%. Luremaster increases the chance of catching an extra fish when using a fishing lure, up to a maximum of 50%.

  Adventure

  Adventure tree focuses primarily on leveling efficiency, open-world combat, survivability, and travel/outdoor utility.

  Regarding leveling, each point in Well Rested increases the accumulation rate and cap of Rested Experience by 4%, up to a maximum of 20%. Talented allows you to earn a Talent Point earlier, lowering the level at which you receive your first point from 10 to 9, though the final total cap of 51 Talent Points remains unchanged.

  In terms of combat and survival, Thrill of Adventure allows for continuous health and mana regeneration for 10 seconds after killing a Non-Trivial Enemy (up to 5% per second), though this effect does not apply in Dungeons, Raids, or Battlegrounds. High Alert boosts Stealth Detection, making it easier to spot stealthed targets outside of Battlegrounds.

  For travel convenience, Frequent Flier reduces Flight Path costs and increases flight speed. A single point cuts Flight Path costs by 50% and boosts flight speed by 20%.

  Regarding outdoor utility, Field Guide shortens the cooldown for placing camp features, while Field Medicine reduces the duration of Recently Bandaged debuff (though this does not apply in Dungeons, Raids, or Battlegrounds).

  Resourcefulness

  

  Resourcefulness tree focuses mainly on WoW Forever gold and resource conservation, reputation and PvP gains, buff durations, and recovery efficiency after death.

  Regarding reputation and PvP, each point in Diplomat increases Reputation Gain by 2%, up to a maximum of 10%. For Great Honor improves the efficiency of earning Honor through PvP.

  For resource and gold savings, each point in Reinforce reduces durability loss upon death by 6% (up to 30%), helping to lower repair costs caused by frequent deaths. Reagent Economy directly reduces material consumption for class skills; Class Abilities no longer require purchased reagents, and crafting Tier 1 camp features no longer requires materials.

  Regarding buffs and consumables, Permanence extends the duration of Party Buffs, Raid Buffs, and Camping Buffs by up to 50%. Gourmand extends the duration of food buffs, offering a bonus of up to 100%.

  Regarding death and group recovery, The Quick and the Dead increases movement speed while running back to one's corpse and allows players to cast party and raid buffs without consuming resources after resurrecting, thereby accelerating the process of regrouping and recovering from a wipe.

  In addition to unlocking perks, Legacy Points accumulated on an account progress Legacy Rewards track, gradually unlocking a range of exclusive cosmetics, pets, toys, and mounts.

  Conclusion

  Legacy System is currently just the beginning. As WoW Classic Plus receives future content updates, new Legacy Challenges, perk nodes, and even entirely new talent trees are expected to be added. The three existing talent trees in the beta still feature locked node slots, leaving room for future expansion.

  However, the newly announced World of Warcraft: Forever breaks this two-decade-old tradition by introducing a dual-name system.

  Consequently, when the beta launched on September 17, provided you have gained access, you may likely encounter a wide array of unique names, making for a truly interesting spectacle.

  Did WoW: Forever development team make this change purely for fun and novelty, or were there deeper considerations at play? We take a look at the details below.

  

  Comparing the old and new naming systems

  In the traditional World of Warcraft single-name system, character naming rules were strict. You were limited to a single word, no surnames allowed, and faced various constraints regarding character count and capitalization.

  The advantage of this approach was guaranteed uniqueness: as long as no one else on the same server had claimed a name, it was yours to use.

  The downside, however, was that players often preferred names that sounded good or held significance within the game's lore or NPC roster. With such restrictive rules, popular names were frequently snapped up the moment servers opened.

  In contrast, the new dual-name system in World of Warcraft: Forever offers far greater flexibility. You can create a final character ID composed of two names, a first name and a surname.

  The introduction of a first name + last name system vastly expands the possible name combinations. This effectively prevents name conflicts, ensuring that the vast majority of latecomers can still secure a name that is structurally complete and looks reasonable.

  In fact, the realmless architecture impacts more than just the character naming system. This unrestricted mega-server environment means higher concurrent player counts; whether you are clearing dungeons or exploring freely, there will always be others playing alongside you.

  Furthermore, the increased player base makes trading systems and auction houses more active. The liquidity of WoW Forever gold improves, helping to avoid negative economic phenomena like hyperinflation or deflation.

  Additionally, when you need to trade with a specific player, having a name with a clear structure, rather than a bizarre string of characters, makes it easier to locate them, preventing losses caused by trading with the wrong person.

  

  The collision of RP and internet memes

  A more formal naming convention, like first name + last name format, is a boon for players dedicated to Role-Playing (RP) in World of Warcraft: Forever.

  It eliminates the anxiety of racing to claim popular names, allowing you instead to create epic, lore-appropriate character names based on the naming traditions of different races, thereby crafting your own unique story in Azeroth.

  However, looking at the current beta, some WoW: Forever players are more interested in using generic terms or internal WoW community memes to create quirky, eccentric names rather than aiming for an authentic Azerothian feel.

  The simultaneous presence of such vastly different character names in Forever creates a fascinating social dynamic. This also reflects the significant impact that shifts in the broader internet ecosystem have had on this classic game series.

  The development team needs to generate buzz
