Hunt Compass Rush is a relatively accessible yet efficient farming strategy in Torchlight: Infinite SS14. It involves repeatedly running maps with a low cost per run and accumulating wealth through completion rewards and rare drops.
Rather than challenging an exceptionally difficult boss or relying on every map to drop top-tier gear, this strategy focuses on increasing the number of maps completed per hour. Small gains add up over time, resulting in an estimated return of around 2,000 FE per hour.
Void Chart and Talent Setup
This strategy uses a Void Chart. The core idea is to trigger bosses through hunting and fast map clears, then collect the chests that spawn. These chests have a chance to drop Compasses. Under Profound, Gold Ecliptic Compasses can drop, and each currently sells for around 50 FE, making them particularly valuable.
For talents, the strategy uses Compass Tree, which provides opportunities to upgrade Compasses. In SS14, the preferred setup takes Deep Space Resonance, although some variations use Regular Resonance instead.
If Deep Space Resonance is worth around 30 times as much as Regular Resonance, go with Deep Space Resonance. Otherwise, use Regular Resonance.
You should also allocate points to nodes related to Embers, Resonance, and Winding Keys, while investing 8 points in Snow Paper.
The remaining points can follow a fairly standard Atlas setup in Profound talent tree. You can also take nodes that have a chance to grant Module Skills. Any rewards from these nodes count as extra income, and the opportunity cost is relatively low.
Another optional choice is Void Variables, a special event mechanic that can randomly trigger in Void Realm maps. It makes encounters slightly more difficult, so leave it out if you find the farming process too challenging.
How to Farm Maps?
In Netherrealm Card System, Compass-related cards are the preferred choice. You can also use cards such as Rainbows and Ember Chests.
You can apply Netherrealm Resonance three or four times per map to add affixes. Going beyond that makes little difference. This strategy does not specifically stack quantity, but it still uses cards, so monsters continue to drop loot and item quantity remains somewhat useful.
Movement speed is crucial during farming. You can equip Blade-dancer's Steps to repeatedly reset Speed Phantom's cooldown, significantly improving your movement speed.
Along the way, kill large groups of monsters and rare enemies, paying particular attention to Ember Goblins spawned by Probes. These goblins drop one to three Alt Embers, which currently have a high value and make up an important part of the strategy's overall returns.
Before entering the final boss area, make sure you have completed the hunt. After defeating the boss, collect any remaining chests in the area and immediately move on to the next map. You only need to kill around 70% of the monsters in each map, so there is no need to clear everything.
Speed matters more than a full clear. Monster packs spawned by Void Variables and Blessed Monsters are generally worth killing along the way. However, hunting remains the main source of income, so you can afford to push aggressively toward the boss.
The cost per map is approximately 4–5 FE. It may be even lower if you use less Netherrealm Resonance or fewer pets.
How to Increase Movement Speed?
You can equip Blade-dancer's Steps, which resets the cooldown of movement skills. Try to obtain the Last Line Corrupted modifier if possible.
The technique revolves around using Spiral Strike to move around. With the help of certain nodes, using a movement skill grants one stack of Agility Blessing. You can obtain this node from Bladeunner Tree or through a Corner or Slate.
Each use of Spiral Strike grants one stack of Agility Blessing, which you can then consume to refresh Speed Phantom's cooldown. This allows you to reset Speed Phantom's cooldown almost indefinitely and move rapidly through maps.
It is highly recommended to get the last line corrupted modifier on Blade-dancer's Steps. Although the build still works without it, your movement speed will be noticeably lower. This setup is what allows you to reach the movement speed needed for the strategy to perform at its best.
With Blade-dancer's Steps, you can clear maps faster and farm more efficiently. If you need additional resources to support your progression, you can also check out Torchlight Infinite Flame Elementium for sale.
Earnings
Most of the strategy's income comes from Flame Elementiums. Ultimate Embers also provide substantial returns. They come from Ember Probes used in this setup and are well worth investing in.
Deep Space Resonance also contributes to your earnings. Depending on market values, you may need to switch between Deep Space Resonance and Netherrealm Resonance. You will also obtain a small number of Divination Cards.
The largest source of income is the endgame hunting chests. Their rewards depend on whether you complete the map, and item quantity does not increase the number of drops from these chests. Therefore, completing more maps means opening more hunting chests and getting more opportunities to obtain valuable Astrolabes.
You should aim to complete each map as quickly as possible, with a target of under one minute per map. Ideally, use the movement speed technique with Blade-dancer's Steps. If you do not equip them, maximize your mobility in other ways. Speed is the foundation of this strategy. The faster you clear maps, the more runs you can complete per hour and the higher your overall returns will be.
