How to Choose SS13 Pactspirits in Torchlight Infinite? | Best Farming Pets After Dream Interpretation Removal

Category: Torchlight Infinite Posted: Jul 29, 2026 Views: 18

Torchlight Infinite SS13 removed Dream Interpretation mechanic. This means the mechanic is no longer profitable, and you need to replace your existing Dream Pactspirits with other options.

Since every player prefers different mechanics, it is impossible to decide which Pactspirits are absolutely the best. However, from a farming perspective, we can evaluate them based on their effects and discuss which ones are more valuable choices.

How to Choose SS13 Pactspirits in Torchlight Infinite? | Best Farming Pets After Dream Interpretation Removal

How to Evaluate a Good Pactspirit?

For level 1 Pactspirits, there are two key factors that determine whether a Pactspirit is strong: low compass reliance and poor scaling with levels.

Poor scaling with levels is relatively rare and usually only appears on older Pactspirits. This means most of pets' core power is already unlocked at level 1, while later upgrades provide only minor improvements. As a result, you can gain most of its value without investing in high-star versions.

Low compass reliance is another important factor for low-star Pactspirits. A strong low-star Pactspirit should not rely heavily on rare and valuable compasses to activate its full potential.

In addition, a Pactspirit that can be used across multiple strategies, such as Sandlord, Vorax, and the pre-SS13 Dream Pactspirit, is extremely valuable in almost any farming setup. These Pactspirits can increase additional Flame Elementium income for your farming strategy. Blacksail also falls into this category.

Low Scaling and Compass Reliance

The importance of these two factors can be seen clearly by comparing Blacksail and Arcana Pactspirits.

Starfish Chanter (Blacksail)

Starfish Chanter provides a 20% chance to double drops at level 1. Even at max level, this only increases to 27%, which is only a 7% improvement. Its other minor talent nodes also do not create any major changes.

This means you gain most of Blacksail's power from its level 1 version. You do not need to invest additional resources into high-star upgrades to achieve strong farming efficiency.

Blacksail only requires one blue compass and one purple compass. Purple compasses have limited value, while blue compasses are almost worthless. You do not need to worry much about compass resources.

Jestress (Arcana)

Jestress provides a 24% chance to double drops at level 1. However, at level 5, its core talent changes this effect into a 24% chance to triple drops, and it can later increase to a 38% chance to triple drops.

These final talent nodes are extremely important for Arcana efficiency. If you want to farm Arcana effectively over the long term, investing in a high-star version is almost necessary.

Arcana strategy requires three compasses. Its purple compass is also not valuable, but the golden compass can be worth dozens of times more than a purple one. This is because the golden compass provides a "+10% Destiny drop chance" effect, which is essential for Arcana farming. As a result, many players comPactspirite for it, keeping its value high.

For low-investment or F2P players, you should always pay attention to a Pactspirit's upgrade talents and compass dependency when making your choice.

Three Farming Methods

One Trick Ponies

This type of strategy is the simplest and most straightforward. If you enjoy a specific mechanic, choose the corresponding Pactspirit. For example, if you like Mistville, choose Mistville Orphan. If you enjoy Frozen Canvas, choose Rainbowpaint Owl.

These strategies are highly profitable, especially Mistville and Frozen Canvas, because they include skill-based mini-games. Since fewer players focus on these mechanics, comPactspiritition is lower. However, they will lock you into a single farming strategy.

Additionally, due to Candles mechanic nerf in SS13 Afterlight, specializing in one farming method now provides significantly increased Ember drops. With the right Pactspirit combination, these strategies can become extremely powerful. This approach is more suitable for Whale players.

If you plan to run this strategy, you might need to invest a significant amount of FE upfront to get started. You can buy IGGM Torchlight Infinite Flame Elementium; if you successfully run it, you can earn a lot.

Quantity over Quality

This farming method focuses on moving quickly through maps, avoiding excessive time spent on individual maps, and gaining rewards through a large number of kills.

Representative Pactspirits include Intern Shelley, Moonshadow Guide, Starfish Chanter, and others.

Quality over Quantity

This type of strategy focuses on maximizing the value of each individual map. It usually requires heavy investment in talent points and expensive compasses.

Representative Pactspirits include Heart-binding Rose and Prof. SOURCE.

Which Pactspirits Should You Choose?

During the early game, especially when pushing toward T8 or Profound difficulty, these 2 Pactspirits are recommended:

  • Heart-binding Rose (Cube): Its profits mainly come from Wedges or early Stone Slates, but it relies heavily on luck. If you become too greedy, the results can be very unstable.
  • Starfish Chanter (Blacksail): Its profits mainly come from Hero Memory and Void Sea Invitation.

The reason only these three are recommended is that other Pactspirits have limitations during the early game. Vorax cannot drop yellow materials before reaching Profound difficulty. Arcana heavily depends on golden compasses, while Eternity materials from Dark Surge only drop in Profound difficulty.

If you do not own a 1-star version of Blacksail or Sandlord, you should prioritize obtaining one of them. Both provide excellent synergy and perform extremely well during the early stages of the game.

Cube Pactspirits

Cube Pactspirits are highly unrecommended because their rewards rely heavily on gambling.

Almost all Cube profits come from a single talent tree node, which allows you to gain an additional Desire Core when 's "triple drop" effect activates. You can choose to continue taking risks, or you can lose everything. This high-risk, high-reward system is not stable.

Overall, Blacksail and Sandlord offer the best value at 1 star. For all other Pactspirits, except Cube, the choice mainly depends on your personal preferences and preferred farming style.
