MLB The Show 26 Servers, Graphics, and AI are All Under Fire | What's Actually Getting Fixed?

Category: MLB The Show 26 Posted: Jul 28, 2026 Views: 29

Players, MLB The Show 26 has been running for four months now. Every year when a new game is released, everyone hopes it will be different from the previous ones. But after playing for a few days, the familiar feeling returns - it seems like every year we're paying for the same expectations, only to end up with the same old problems.

Some issues reappear year after year. Every year they say this year will be different, but it's still the same formula. Players understand this disappointment. The following suggestions for improving MLB 26 might be exactly what you're thinking.

Making the Game Playable

If you see any posts on the community warning against playing MLB The Show 26, you'll inevitably see complaints about online lag, disconnections, and frequent loading failures in Co-op mode. Especially in Co-op mode, teammates often disconnect halfway through a match, and by the time you reconnect, the game is already over, wasting 20-30 minutes.

We really hope MLB 26 prioritizes fixing server stability and matchmaking logic, so players don't waste their good games and the valuable cards they've acquired with tons of MLB 26 stubs.

Furthermore, Franchise in single-player mode is often unreasonable - the AI only focuses on positional upgrades, completely ignoring overall value, and it takes days to recover, making the experience very sluggish.

If the game included a real-time trade feedback system or a more intelligent AI evaluation, it would at least reduce the number of save/load reloads for players.

Upgrade the Graphics Engine

From modeling to lighting, MLB The Show 26 is still ridiculed as a legacy of the PS3 era. Stadium details (such as retirement commemorative signs and playoff banners) haven't been updated in years, which is jarring.

To use a real-world example, some stadium textures are still from five years ago, and even the newly added billboards haven't kept up. We don't need to achieve perfection overnight, but at least let next-gen consoles (PS5/Xbox) enjoy the level of graphics they deserve, instead of waiting until the PS6 is released to catch up.

Furthermore, player facial scanning urgently needs an upgrade in MLB 26. Currently, many rookies have generic faces with no distinctive features.

Diamond Dynasty Content Adjustments

Many players have reported that Diamond Dynasty card pool is overcrowded with second basemen, and the use of legendary players is too conservative, with some star players only reaching a maximum OVR of 93. What players want is a more diverse positional distribution, and for truly memorable stars to receive high OVR cards commensurate with their careers.

In addition, to keep players looking forward to MLB 26 Diamond Dynasty every day, new cards should not be released on the same day, even if it's spread out over a week.

This would also allow for player voting to determine the next high OVR card, increasing community engagement.

Franchise Deep Customization

Many people have a lot to say about Franchise, and what they probably crave most is that the mode allow players to start a new game mid-season based on real-world records and rankings (like FIFA 26), making it easier to play rescue scenarios, such as taking over a bottom-ranked team and aiming for a wildcard.

Ideally, league expansion and re-division should be added, and logo and jersey customization should be on par with NBA 2K, allowing players to truly create their own MLB 26 team.

Furthermore, the game should allow players to manually lower player ages, making it easier to assemble a crossover dream team, allowing younger versions of legendary players to compete against veterans. At the same time, the injury rules should be made more flexible, giving simulator enthusiasts greater freedom.

Because the current 93-player draft and overseas signing cap in the game is insufficient, if MLB 26 could expand this limit, hardcore players would no longer need to repeatedly delete players to keep a few low-tier rookies.

Enhancing Road to the Show Immersion

The main complaint from players regarding Road to the Show mode is that it's not yet fully developed and lacks a personal touch.

From a player's perspective, the college phase seems to offer little emotional value, with commentators failing to resonate with players after championship runs. Adding rewards for college achievements, such as improved draft picks or extra skill points, would make returning to college more meaningful.

Furthermore, even when some star players reach high OVR, they still seem like ordinary players, lacking any sense of star power. Therefore, allowing players to participate in team recruitment suggestions would be beneficial.

When they retire in MLB 26, instead of a simple black screen, a simple farewell scene and summary, even just a few letters and a standing ovation, would provide a heartwarming ending to their long careers.

Furthermore, if MLB The Show series can't deliver a major update every year, perhaps releasing a new game every two years would be better? In the interim years, the focus is on roster changes and adjustments, concentrating on refining the game's stability and content innovation, rather than rushing to release new cards every year.

Minor flaws are tolerable, but if even Co-op mode is unplayable, players will only sigh and frown at the game.

We don't expect MLB The Show 26 to fulfill all player wishes, but if everyone can see that the development team is genuinely making changes, then everyone will feel at ease.
