It's been over a month since the end of 2025. The arrival of the new year means many game series will be releasing new installments, such as MLB The Show series, which always releases updates in March.
MLB 25 launched on March 14th last year, bringing a series of updates to your virtual baseball career with a completely new experience and changes. Although the game received polarized reviews and tended to decline further later, thankfully MLB 26 is coming soon!
So whether you're a new player looking to join the game now, or a veteran player tired of the content of 25, you'll soon be able to start a new baseball career!

MLB 26 release date
Following the release tradition of MLB The Show games that has been in place for several years, MLB 26 will be released on March 17th, 2026, with a 4-day early access period. If you get Deluxe Edition, you can start enjoying the game ahead of others.
Furthermore, based on the trailer and other information, it has been confirmed that Aaron Judge from New York Yankees will be the cover star for MLB The Show 26. He last held this role during MLB 18.
How to get this game?
MLB The Show 26 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch (note: not Switch 2). You can pre-order now on the appropriate platform based on your device and play plan.
The game has two editions: Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition. Standard Edition only includes the base game, while Deluxe Edition offers a host of additional benefits:
- 4-day early access
- 20x The Show Packs
- 2x WBC Choice Packs
- 1x Legend Pack
- 1x Equipment Pack
- 1x Cover Athlete Bat Skin
- 1x WBC Uniform Pack
- 20K Stubs
- Double Daily Rewards for 30 Days
So if you want to quickly acquire extra players and build your dream team by immediately gaining more MLB 26 stubs after the game starts, Deluxe Edition is definitely worth it!
Furthermore, regardless of which edition you choose, you'll unlock Gold Choice Pack as a preorder bonus if you acquire the game during the pre-order phase.
In addition, MLB The Show is offering an exclusive extra discount for returning players this year! If you've owned a Deluxe Edition of any MLB The Show game since the launch of MLB 21, you can enjoy a 10% discount on MLB 26 pre-orders!
What changes will MLB 26 bring?
Based on available information, compared to MLB 25, 26 doesn't seem to have any plans for new gameplay modes for the time being. Instead, it will focus on updating and optimizing popular modes like Road to the Show and Diamond Dynasty.
Road to the Show
This mode is a single-player role-playing game in MLB, focusing on player development rather than pure contest, resulting in a longer experience. Your goal is to create your own player and lead them to the pinnacle of their career.
Based on this, MLB The Show 26 first adds a new chapter, Road to Cooperstown, allowing you to develop your player from high school and strive to reach Hall of Fame for the highest honor.
Other specific changes include:
- Enriching the player development journey by expanding the amateur experience.
- Adding 11 new college teams to choose from (bringing the total to 19).
- Introducing NCAA Men's College World Series format and bracket.
- Introducing more game objectives to allow for better planning during player development.
Diamond Dynasty
As the core game mode, Diamond Dynasty is actually composed of several smaller gameplay modes, all designed to allow you to collect more cards through matches and build your own team.
Currently available Diamond Dynasty modes include Mini Seasons, Conquest, Diamond Quest, and more, with Diamond Quest being a new addition in MLB 25.
Based on this, MLB The Show 26's changes to the existing mechanics begin with a major overhaul of Mini Seasons, while introducing more new rewards and series, as well as more real-time services.
Furthermore, World Baseball Classic gameplay, previously featured in MLB 23, will return in MLB 26 Diamond Dynasty, significantly expanding the event cycle content and bringing new playable stadiums and tournament modes.
Other game mode updates
In addition to the above, MLB The Show 26 will also launch Season 4 for Storylines Negro Leagues, allowing you to learn more about the hidden stories of famous players. Franchise mode will also be optimized for a better experience.
What can you prepare now?
No matter how many stubs and cards you earn in MLB 25, you can't directly carry them over to 26. This means you have to start from scratch in MLB The Show 26, but thankfully, the development team has introduced Now & Later Packs bonus system.
To earn this benefit, you first need to earn rewards in MLB 25 by playing MLB 25 XP Path and Now & Later Program. These rewards will then be converted into special vouchers.
When MLB 26 launches, as long as you ensure you're using the same account you used to log in to MLB The Show 25, these vouchers will automatically become The Show Packs in 26. You can earn up to 12 packs this way.
This system officially launched at 12 PM PST on February 3rd. In addition to the packs, you'll also receive two different versions of Carlos Beltrán player items for use in MLB The Show 25 and 26, respectively.
Of course, besides preparing for these benefits, you can also continue practicing your virtual baseball skills in MLB 25 before the launch of MLB 26, so you can better adapt to the new changes in 26 and achieve your first victory faster!
That concludes our introduction to MLB The Show 26 pre-orders and related information. If you're planning to play this game, this guide should be helpful!
