GTA 6 Leaked Gameplay Details | RDR2-Inspired Realism, Smarter NPCs and Refined Combat

Grand Theft Auto VI is now only months away from its official release, and the highly anticipated third trailer will not be released exclusively on Netflix until 3 PM on August 27. We still have to wait around two more weeks, but some gameplay information has already leaked ahead of time.
GTA 6 will be more than just an upgrade over GTA 5. It will bear greater similarities to Red Dead Redemption 2, which makes sense considering that the latter was released in 2018, while also taking those ideas even further with additional refinements. If the latest GTA 6 news has you feeling impatient, here is what you can look forward to.

Countdown to Release
GTA 6 has been confirmed to officially launch on November 19, 2026. With only three months remaining, the official marketing strategy has taken an unexpected direction. The team has chosen streaming giant Netflix as a partner, giving it a 6-hour exclusive window for the third GTA 6 trailer.
Netflix must have made a considerable investment in securing this trailer, which also reflects just how high expectations are for GTA 6. The game has even generated revenue for its parent company before its release.
According to Strauss Zelnick, the entire promotional campaign is divided into 3 phases. Netflix Portugal briefly listed three separate extended GTA 6 preview segments,
each reportedly lasting around 18 to 25 minutes, with the total runtime potentially being comparable to that of a full-length trailer. Although the authenticity of the listing has not been confirmed by either GTA 6 team or Netflix, it could suggest that the third GTA 6 trailer contains an astonishing amount of information.
This may also explain why GTA 6 has taken so long to reveal it, while hopefully giving some relief to the many restless players who have been waiting for so long.
Leaked Gameplay
According to the leaked information that has surfaced, GTA 6 will make major breakthroughs in gameplay details, with its design philosophy leaning more toward the realistic style of Red Dead Redemption 2 rather than the convenience-focused approach of GTA 5.
Weapon Carrying System
Players will no longer be able to carry an entire arsenal with them at all times. Instead, characters will only be able to carry one or two sidearms, such as pistols, along with one large weapon, such as a rifle.
If players need to change their equipment, they will have to visit the trunk of their vehicle or a weapon storage area in a safehouse. This will require more strategic planning before heading into action.
Dual-Protagonist Coordination
Jason and Lucia will be more than simply switchable characters. The game will reportedly include dedicated missions that allow players to switch between the two seamlessly, and a new mechanic may even allow both characters to be controlled and coordinated simultaneously for tactical teamwork.
Dynamic City
The game is set in the state of Leonida and its central city, Vice City, with a level of realism that is expected to reach new heights.
Leaked information suggests that parts of the environment will be destructible. An even more detailed element is that when players recklessly drive through the city and destroy streetlights or other public infrastructure, specific municipal repair workers will appear to replace or repair the damaged facilities.
Character Backgrounds

The backstories of the two protagonists shown in the trailers, Jason and Lucia, have also begun to emerge.
Jason was a paratrooper who enlisted to escape his past criminal life. Players may experience his military service in the game.
Lucia, meanwhile, is from Liberty City. The game may use flashbacks to explore her early life in Liberty City, her family struggles, and the events that eventually led to her imprisonment.
Visual Presentation

According to insiders, RAGE used for GTA 6 was developed with production standards from film and television in mind. This could make the experience dramatically different from GTA 5, with its depth and emotional impact coming closer to what was seen in Red Dead Redemption 2.
The Ai of NPCs will be significantly improved, allowing them to interact with different systems within the game in more complex and sophisticated ways. The game will use a cinematic approach to storytelling, while players' choices and actions will dynamically influence the surrounding world.
Vehicle entry and exit, driving itself, and vehicle combat will become exceptionally detailed and complex. According to the source, simply holding a button to shoot through a vehicle window, as seen in GTA 4 and GTA 5, is considered a primitive mechanic and has been discarded. The new vehicle combat system is expected to feel completely different.
Regarding the sluggish controls that have often been criticized in Red Dead Redemption 2, sources claim that GTA 6 will significantly improve responsiveness while retaining a certain level of realism. The response speed is reportedly being pushed to a level that could appeal to competitive and esports players.
GTA Online
As the most lucrative part of GTA 5, the future form of GTA Online in GTA 6 has attracted considerable attention. However, the official team currently has no intention of discussing GTA Online.
This means detailed information about the online mode may not be revealed until a month or even longer after the game's release. The strategy is clearly intended to ensure that players first immerse themselves in the single-player campaign, its story, characters, and world-building, rather than having their attention diverted to the online mode too early.
Once GTA Online launches, players who have already completed the story will flock to this mode. You can pre-order GTA 6 money from IGGM.com, if you're looking for the perfect online experience
Only two weeks remain until the full reveal on August 27, when more details about GTA 6's combat, story, and expanded content are expected to emerge. It remains to be seen what kind of story it will ultimately bring.
