Diablo 4 Season 12 Developer Update Livestream May Reveal Details about Warlock Class, Killstreaks System, and More

In a Developer Q&A session over a week ago, Diablo 4 developers stated their plans for a major overhaul of the game, primarily through the second expansion, Lord of Hatred. Season 12, preceding that, might also include some transitional measures.
Season 12 2.6.0 PTR ended on February 10th, showcasing only the main gameplay and offering no reliable previews of further overall changes to Diablo 4.
Based on this, the development team plans a new Developer Update Livestream in early March. We'll provide information on the livestream's time and other details, and speculate on its potential content.

Developer update livestream time
The livestream will take place on March 5th at 11:00 AM Pacific Time. You can watch it on Twitch, YouTube, or X channels by finding official Diablo.
If you can't watch it live, you can watch the replay afterward or find related information in summary posts on Diablo 4 forums and community. However, we highly recommend making time to watch, as you can earn extra rewards!
How to get Twitch Drops?
Simply watch the live stream for at least 30 minutes/one hour to earn Twitch Drop rewards: Omen's Glimpse Wand Cosmetic/Syphon of Malefaction Scythe Cosmetic.
Even if you don't have the time or patience to watch for that long, you can let the stream run in the background on your device after entering the livestream and unlock the free reward after accumulating the required time!
However, besides watching the live stream, you need to meet other prerequisites to earn Twitch Drops. You need to link your Battle.net and Twitch accounts, and you can only claim them through the channel you watch or Twitch Drops inventory.
If the two accounts are not linked or you don't claim them in time, your rewards will expire after one week. Additionally, if you are using Twitch app through a game console or other TV app, item drops are not supported.
What kind of content might this livestream include?
Most Diablo 4 developer update livestreams are divided into two parts. The first part is an interview with the host and developers, announcing the main content of the new season, followed by a Q&A session to answer further questions from players.
This livestream will build upon the content shown in 2.6.0 PTR, revealing more details about Season 12 gameplay and introducing the new class, Warlock, that will be added to Diablo 4.
Season 12 main content
The season is expected to launch on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM PDT, the same time Season 11 will end. The core gameplay of Season 12 is Killstreaks system, a popular mechanic from Diablo 3 that returns to D4.
This system rewards players with kills in a row. Rewards may include useful gold and XP in the early season, or other Diablo 4 items that can further enhance character combat abilities.
The entire system is divided into five levels: Killstreak, Carnage, Devastation, Bloodbath, and Massacre, which increase with the rate at which enemies are killed. Higher levels offer better rewards.
Next, Season 12 introduces a new type of gear: Bloodied items. These gears are linked to Killstreaks system and have corresponding Bloodied affixes. These affixes are divided into three types, providing different benefits to your Killstreak challenges:
- Rampage (Armor)
- Feast (Weapons)
- Hunger (Jewelry)
Bloodied Sigils are another new type of item introduced in Season 12. They can be used to increase the difficulty of classic Diablo 4 gameplay modes such as Nightmare Dungeons or Infernal Hordes, helping you unlock more rewards.
More importantly, these sigils have a specific Relentless Butcher affix, ensuring that a Butcher spawns and increasing the boss's danger. Therefore, if your character is not strong enough, do not use them lightly.
Based on PTR feedback, most players feel the current season lacks content, a common problem with transitional seasons (as was the case with Season 6, which launched alongside Vessel of Hatred).
However, after Season 12 released, there will still a month until the second expansion. Therefore, this livestream should build upon the core content mentioned above and reveal more details to enrich the gameplay of Season 12.
New class Warlock
Back in late 2025, Paladin, one of the two new classes introduced in Lord of Hatred expansion, became playable content in Season 11. Following player speculation, the second class, Warlock, was also announced.
Warlock also appeared as a new class in Diablo 2's Resurrected Reign of the Warlock expansion, which launched this February. While there's not much information released about Diablo 4 Warlock, the two should share some similarities.
D2R Warlock can use both two-handed weapons and shields simultaneously through a passive ability and possesses a unique Tome as an off-hand item. Warlock class features three skill branches, which you can choose based on your needs and preferences:
- Demonic Binding (summons)
- Eldritch Weapons (magic/physical hybrid)
- Arts of Chaos (fire/damage over time)
Based on this, March 5th livestream should provide a more detailed introduction to Warlock skills, key mechanics, and other information. We speculate that this class will focus on demon binding and summoning, as well as various interesting spells.
Starting with Spiritborn in 2024, all new classes added to Diablo 4 have been melee classes. Warlock, as a spell-casting class, will become a new option for Necromancer or Druid enthusiasts, further broadening the game's gameplay and styles.
This concludes our overview of known information and other speculations regarding Diablo 4 developer update livestream on March 5th. Don't miss out on rewards and the latest content!
