Diablo 4 Season 11 Sunbrand Guide | How To Get This Paladin Unique Flail?

Category: Diablo 4 Posted: Dec 26, 2025 Views: 1473

It's undeniable that Paladin's early access has not only attracted more attention to Diablo 4's second expansion but also encouraged more new and returning players to come back for Season 11.

If you pre-order Lord of Hatred, you can now experience Paladin in Season 11, enjoying new melee combat while ensuring that Paladin-exclusive items you find don't go to waste.

Based on this, we will introduce you to how to obtain and use Sunbrand, one of the new unique items for Paladin.

Diablo 4 Season 11 Sunbrand Guide | How To Get This Paladin Unique Flail?

What Is Sunbrand?

In Diablo 4, obtainable items are categorized by rarity, with unique items being among the rarer levels and further divided into general and class-specific types. Sunbrand is a unique flail exclusive to the new Paladin class.

The core effect of this gear is to provide 3 additional beams for Heaven's Fury skill, dealing 30-50% additional damage. Other basic attributes include:

  • + 65.0% Vulnerable Damage
  • + 25.0-35.0% Chance for Heaven's Fury to Deal Double Damage
  • + 51-65 Strength
  • + 489-526 Maximum Life
  • 8.1-8.8% Cooldown Reduction

Heaven's Fury itself releases beams that deal 200% damage per second to surrounding enemies, with some beams tracking more enemies and dealing 60% damage to them over 7 seconds.

It's worth noting that after being enhanced, this skill can trigger Judgment to deal damage to enemies in a larger area. Combined with Sunbrand, you can craft more powerful and diverse Heaven's Fury builds.

How To Obtain Sunbrand?

This unique item can be obtained in-game primarily by farming specific lair bosses Varshan and Belial, gambling at Purveyors of Curiosities, and clearing Kurast Undercity dungeon.

If you want a faster and cheaper way to obtain it, then it's best to buy Diablo 4 Sunbrand at IGGM! From December 23rd to 31st, you can also enjoy a 10% holiday discount using the code XMAS!

Defeating Varshan

First, you need to collect enough Malignant Hearts to open the hoard and claim your loot after winning the boss fight. These lair keys can be earned by completing various Diablo 4 events and quests.

Then, travel to Tree of Whispers and enter the nearby Malignant Burrow to find Varshan and begin the fight. This boss primarily deals shadow damage, so you'll need to bring gear or potions with Shadow resistance beforehand.

Additionally, when the boss's health drops to 75%, 50%, and 25%, she will summon two sacrificial elite monsters to obtain two energy orbs that will track you for a short time. Avoid being hit by these orbs, as they will deal damage.

After defeating Varshan, use the key to open her hoard, where you can find unique items, runes, and other rewards. The higher Torment difficulty level and the more party members you have, the greater the chance of finding unique items.

The following are the unique items dropped by Varshan that are usable by Paladins:

General:

  • Frostburn
  • Mother's Embrace
  • Rakanoth's Wake
  • Shard of Verathiel

Paladin Exclusive:

  • Arcadia
  • Argent Veil
  • Dawnfire
  • Gate of the Red Dawn
  • Mantle of the Grey
  • March of the Stalwart Soul
  • Sunbrand
  • Ward of the White Dove

Defeating Belial

The lair key for this boss is Betrayer's Husk, which can only be obtained after defeating Mini Belial - he will appear with a low probability after you defeat any Initiate or Greater lair bosses.

Next, with your collected Betrayer's Husk, travel to northern Kehjistan at the highest possible Torment difficulty level to find and enter Palace of the Deceiver to begin Belial boss fight.

This boss primarily deals Poison damage, so you will need to bring items with corresponding resistance. As the rarest lair boss, Belial's main value lies in dropping Mythics. The unique items he drops that are usable by Paladin include:

Class-specific (including Paladin):

  • Azurewrath
  • Sunbrand
  • The Butcher's Cleaver

General:

  • Crown of Lucion
  • Shard of Verathiel
  • Endurant Faith
  • Fists of Fate
  • Flickerstep
  • Frostburn
  • Godslayer Crown
  • Paingorger's Gauntlets
  • Penitent Greaves
  • Rakanoth's Wake
  • Razorplate
  • Soulbrand
  • Tassets of the Dawning Sky
  • Temerity
  • Tibault's Will
  • Yen's Blessing
  • Banished Lord's Talisman
  • Locran's Talisman
  • Mother's Embrace
  • X'Fal's Corroded Signet

Gambling At Purveyors Of Curiosities

Purveyors of Curiosities are a type of NPC in Diablo 4. You can interact with them using Murmuring Obols to gamble for random unique items. The rarity of the gear obtained this way is random, but you can specify the slot.

Sunbrand is a flail weapon, so when gambling, you should choose the one-handed weapon slot, which needs 50 Murmuring Obols. This special currency can be earned by completing most in-game events, with a maximum holding limit of 2580.

Clearing Kurast Undercity

This dungeon requires you to unlock the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, to enter. Since you're playing a Paladin, it means you've pre-ordered the second expansion, so Vessel of Hatred will be given to you as a bonus if you didn't already have it.

Kurast Undercity has many timed challenges. Completing them earns your points, and the more points you accumulate, the more loot you'll receive at the end. Submitting tributes can also increase the drop rate or quantity of specific loot.

Therefore, if you want to increase your chances of getting Sunbrand in this dungeon, you should submit Tributes of Ascendancy.

Summary

Of the four methods above, farming the two lair bosses for Sunbrand is the most common and recommended method.

If you're playing a Paladin and using a Heaven's Fury build, it's best to unlock Sunbrand as soon as possible to improve your character's strength! Have fun!
