CoD Black Ops 6 Season 5 Overview And Predictions: Will It Be The Final Season?
If you’re playing Black Ops 6 these days, you’re probably busy finishing up all the limited-time events from Season 4. After all, once Season 5 launches, they and their associated rewards will cease to be available.
As in the past, Season 5 will introduce a host of new playable content, along with a mid-season reload, further enriching Season 5. However, as we prepare for the season, you might also be wondering if it will be the final BO6 season, considering BO7 doesn’t seem far off.
Below, we’ll provide an overview of Season 5 and speculate on the likelihood of more seasons.
When Will Season 5 Launch?
We know for sure that the season will launch on Thursday, August 7th, at 9:00 AM Pacific Time on all CoD Black Ops 6 available platforms, and you’ll be able to pre-download the game before the season officially begins to experience the new content firsthand.
The specific release dates for Season 5 for different time zones are as follows:
- CT (Central Time): 11:00 AM, Aug 7
- ET (Eastern Time): 12:00 PM, Aug 7
- BRT (Brasilia Time): 1:00 PM, Aug 7
- BST (British Summer Time): 5:00 PM, Aug 7
- CEST (Central European Summer Time): 6:00 PM, Aug 7
- SAST (South African Standard Time): 6:00 PM, Aug 7
- GST (Gulf Standard Time): 8:00 PM, Aug 7
- KST (Korea Standard Time): 1:00 AM, Aug 8
- JST (Japan Standard Time): 1:00 AM, Aug 8
- AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time): 2:00 AM, Aug 8
Additionally, while not officially announced yet, Season 5 Reloaded is expected to release sometime in the fourth week after Season 5 launches, so you can prepare for it.
New Multiplayer Maps & Gameplay
While the release of new maps means you’ll need to practice in CoD Black Ops 6 Bot Lobbies a few times before getting used to them, it does provide new exploration fun for dedicated Multiplayer players.
Season 5 is expected to add the following four new maps to Multiplayer mode, with the final one being added via a mid-season reload:
- Runaway (6v6): Season 5
- Exchange (6v6/2v2): Season 5
- W.M.D. (6v6): Season 5
- Jackpot (6v6): Season 5 Reloaded
Additionally, to further enhance the motivation to play Multiplayer in Season 5, the game has added more built-in gameplay modes - both new and returning classic Call of Duty multiplayer gameplay:
Season 5
- Aim High
- Snipers Only
- Cranked Moshpit
Season 5 Reloaded
- Cranked Demolition
- Ransack
- Blueprint Gunfight
New Zombies Map
While it’s unclear whether CoD Black Ops 6 will release Season 6 in September or October, it’s certain that the new Zombies map, The Reckoning, in Season 5 will be the game’s final Zombies map.
This map follows up on the Easter egg from Season 4’s Shattered Veil map, requiring you to travel to Janus Towers for an epic showdown with S.A.M.
The map’s gameplay is expected to include a lengthy Easter egg questline, the directional mode from Season 5 Reloaded, and the conclusion of the entire Black Ops 6 Zombies storyline (which will probably connect to BO7 Zombies storyline later).
Season 5 will also provide Gorgofex wonder weapon, useful on this map, and Mister Peeks field upgrade. The latter attracts zombies’ attention when deployed and also comes with augmentations.
During Season 5 launch, Grief support will also be released on The Reckoning map, allowing you to engage in 4v4 duels with other players. Team Cranked will also launch alongside Season 5 Reloaded.
New Weapons & Loadout
Like maps and gameplay, new weapons and loadouts will be released in batches with Season 5 and Season 5 Reloaded:
Weapons
- PML 5.56 (LMG)
- ABR A1 (Assault Rifle)
- Boxing Gloves (Melee Weapon)
- Gravemark .357 Revolver (Pistol)
Loadout
- PM Skull Splitter
- PPSh-41 Helical Magazine
- Combat Bow
New Events
These events will launch on August 7th, or with the release of Season 5 Reloaded. Each will offer unique gameplay and exclusive rewards, including the new weapons and loadouts already mentioned.
- 90s Action Heroes: Season 5
- The Reckoning Leaderboard Event (Zombies only): Season 5
- Operation: Hell Ride: Season 5 Reloaded
- Atomic Block Party: Season 5 Reloaded
Will There Be More New Seasons?
Despite various rumors within the community, there’s currently no official confirmation that Season 5 will be the final season for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Since the game’s season cycle lasts approximately two and a half months, and Season 5 launched on August 7th, it’s speculated that if there is a Season 6, it would launch around mid-to-late October.
However, leaks suggest that the sequel, Black Ops 7, is likely slated for a mid-November release. If these rumors and speculations are true, then the release of Black Ops 7 would almost coincide with the release of Season 6.
Previous Call of Duty games have rarely released a new season just weeks before the release of a new game. Therefore, if Black Ops 7 does launch in November, Season 5 may indeed be the final season for Black Ops 6.
On a related note, there’s also Black Ops 7 multiplayer beta, which will begin in late September and potentially last until the first or second week of October. To ensure your focus is on the new game, no other updates are expected during this period.
Taking all the above factors into account, even if CoD Black Ops 6 launches Season 6, its existence will be short-lived and unnecessary, making the claim that Season 5 is the final season completely plausible.
However, until the official announcement is made, there’s really no need to dwell on it. As a player, all you need to do is enjoy the upcoming Season 5, rather than worrying about the uncertain future of BO6!

CoD Black Ops 6 Season 5 Possible New Operators: What New Characters Will Be Joining The Game In The New Season?
By now, everyone knows that Black Ops 6 Season 5 has been confirmed to release on August 7th. As always, with the arrival of a new season, players will be greeted by a new Battle Pass, additional maps, unlockable DLC weapons, and finally, Zombies map. Of course, beyond that, I’m particularly interested in Operator updates coming in the new season, one of the many hallmarks of Call of Duty series.
An Operator is a player skin that, at least visually, transforms you into a character of your choice. However, not all Operators are available from the start, as the criteria for unlocking each Operator differs when playing Bo6. Here, we’ll take a look at all the new Operators in Black Ops 6 Season 5.
Black Ops 7 Pre-Order Bonus Operators
Speaking of Operator skins, I want to start with Black Ops 7 pre-order bonuses.
To clarify, when CoD Black Ops 6 was initially announced, if you pre-ordered the game, you received a Woods operator pack for MW3, and this character ultimately carried over to BO6. This was one of the very few items that could be carried over from Modern Warfare into Black Ops.
Also, if you completed some in-game challenges, you could get Woods’s costume variant. So, this content is still available in Black Ops 6 today.
So, if you pre-order Black Ops 7, you’ll get a new Operator skin, perhaps David Mason or Mike Harper, or perhaps Raul Menendez. Then, by completing some in-game challenges, you might also get some of the character’s costume variants. This wouldn’t shock me at all, considering Camo has already been leaked as a CoD Black Ops 7 pre-order bonus.
Beyond that, I’m guessing Vault Edition will eventually be available for pre-order around the time of Gamescom on August 19th. But with BO6 S5 launching on August 7th, it’s likely these rewards will be leaked.
This means we can expect to see at least four Operators available through pre-orders of Bo of Duty 7’s add-on content, similar to last year’s Bo of Duty 6, when we received Adler, Brutus, Klaus, and Park.
Thus, I wouldn’t be surprised if Black Ops 7 also saw a similar collaboration, though these Operators might not be available in Bo of Duty 6, and you might have to wait until the beta or the official release of the game to actually get these skins.
Crossover Operator Fisherman
Now, we'll see an unexpected Operator with the launch of Season 5: Fisherman from I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Recently, Black Ops 6 announced a crossover event with the film I Know What You Did Last Summer. This collaboration continues the Call of Duty series’ trend of incorporating horror elements and provides a great selling point for the new Operator.
But honestly, this collaboration was something no one had anticipated, as Call of Duty itself doesn’t have many collaborations. But considering the movie came out a few weeks ago, I don’t think they’ll wait that long to add this Operator skin to Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
So, I suspect you’ll see this bundle in the store a day or two after August 7th, and there might even be challenges tied to this character.
I’m not sure if they’ll be running XP or collection events, but at the very least, you’ll see this Operator in a bundle for around 2,400 Call of Duty Points.
Additionally, this bundle includes a Fishhook Man weapon skin. If you want an immersive first-person experience of a fisherman slaying villains, set it as your primary weapon in CoD Black Ops 6 Bot Lobbies and enjoy the thrill of killing in the night.
Chocolate And Jellybean
Also, I do think the two leaked Black Ops 6 codenames, Chocolate and Jellybean, could be references to some upcoming crossover event. These are likely just a cover for the characters’ true identities.
Sometimes, actual character data is revealed through their names, which is why we often see codenames like food, items, vehicles, and even some very strange Operators, simply to disguise the fact that they might be crossover characters.
So, perhaps Fishhook Man is one of them, or perhaps these two are crossover characters that are about to be added to the game.
Battle Pass Operator
Unfortunately, the recent Black Ops 6 Season 4 end credits didn’t reveal who the next Battle Pass Operator will be.
Over the past few months, we’ve seen some end credits for Black Ops 6, including teasers for Jason Hudson and Stitch. Unfortunately, there’s still no indication of who the next big Operator will be for Season 5.
However, there are reports that Lawrence Sims will return, and he’s likely to be the main Operator for Battle Pass.
It’s worth noting that many of the campaign skins that appeared in Season 4 finale remain unavailable. I mean, this seems to be a frequent occurrence with Call of Duty series: you’ll see some really cool costumes in the single-player game, but they won’t ultimately appear as packs or event rewards.
I’ve always believed that any campaign skins should be added for free through challenges or other means, as this content should be easy to add at any time.
So, don’t completely rule out the possibility that these campaign skins will also appear in Season 5 Battle Pass.
Of course, they could also save them for Season 5, where they might focus more on the haunted house theme, like some Halloween collaboration. Perhaps they’ll release other Operators later, but for now, this is what we know about Operator skins that will appear in the new season and how to obtain them. Let’s wait and see!
