In NRftW, in-game gold is the core currency circulating in the game's economy. It's a primary, scarce resource, indispensable for repairing and upgrading equipment, acquiring key supplies, and advancing your character.
However, the game features a unique death penalty: upon death, your gold is instantly lost. This penalty serves as a deterrent and encourages players to play cautiously. If you don't want the frustration of your hard-earned currency suddenly disappearing with a single accidental death, you can obtain all the gold you need from our No Rest for the Wicked shop, avoiding all risks and trials.

The items you equip often directly determine your combat effectiveness, character progression, and ability to survive in challenging Souls-like games, with rare, high-level gear defining your late-game strength. No Rest for the Wicked Gold Farming Guide | 5 Best Ways to Get Rich in Isola Sacra!
In recent years, more and more ARPGs have adopted a longer early access phase to build hype during development, allowing for sufficient optimization before the final release and a better experience.
No Rest for the Wicked, an ARPG, follows this approach. Launched on April 18, 2024, the game has remained in Early Access, but reports suggest a possible full release sometime in 2026.
Therefore, if you haven't played the game yet, now might be the perfect time to join! The game recently released a new Together update on January 22nd!
Based on this, we'll provide a guide to gold farming in NRFTW, benefiting both those wanting to immediately experience the new update and those preparing for the full release!

What is this game's economy?
Before starting farming, you first need to understand how the economy in No Rest for the Wicked works - what gold can be used for and what benefits it can bring.
As an ARPG, NRftW employs a soft class system, where your character's abilities are related to gear and attributes. Your goal is to enhance your character by upgrading these attributes, acquire loot to build the hub city of Sacrament, and continue growing stronger.
Based on this, the game's economy is essentially player-driven, featuring free trade characteristics, meaning that the primary method of item trading is among players.
Furthermore, the game's item system emphasizes scarcity. You must manage your daily resources and vendor inventory effectively within limited resources, trading items to acquire more gold or other items.
Total "gold" can be further divided into gold, silver, and copper coins. The type of coin you receive depends primarily on the rarity of the items you sell and the difficulty of the quests you complete.
Once you acquire gold, you'll find it has numerous uses, from repairing and upgrading gear related to combat to acquiring recipes in casual gameplay - all requiring No Rest for the Wicked gold.
Additionally, after unlocking Sacrament, you can also use gold trading to acquire and decorate your own house. While this won't boost your combat power, who can resist having a more luxurious and impressive home in the game?
Directly farming monsters
This is currently the most direct source of gold in the game, but unfortunately, unlike regular ARPGs, directly killing monsters in NRftW yields very limited rewards. However, it's a safe enough method when you're a newbie.
The game map is centered around Isola Sacra, featuring uniquely designed vertically explorable levels. You can climb upwards to explore new areas and then kill enemies within for loot.
More importantly, explored areas will darken on the map over time, reverting to an unexplored state. This means you can repeatedly farm enemy-dense areas to earn even more gold.
Completing challenges or bounties
Captain Randolph, one of the main NPCs in Sacrament, will post weekly and daily challenges and bounties at a fixed location. You can find him near Cerim Whisper location after defeating Warrick the Torn.
The coins rewarded by these quests are primarily copper or silver coins, with the amount depending on the quest's difficulty. Therefore, we recommend prioritizing high-level, difficult quests to maximize your farming efficiency.
Weekly quests generally involve defeating specific enemies or bosses and are relatively dangerous - but the rewards are also greater. Daily bounty quests are simpler, but the advantage is that they can be repeated to accumulate coins.
It's important to note that whether you're completing specific quests or directly farming monsters, you must ensure you can leave safely, as dying in combat in No Rest for the Wicked will result in the loss of gold!
Selling items
As mentioned in point one, enemy drops are not the primary source of gold in No Rest for the Wicked, but they do drop many items that can be sold for gold!
Generally, we recommend prioritizing the sale of useless or duplicate items and selling Fallen Embers before unlocking the endgame, as their main purpose is to obtain the key to the endgame dungeon Cerim Crucible and to repair high-level gear.
Additionally, after engaging in casual gameplay such as cooking or fishing, you'll obtain fish or dishes. These have little impact on game progression and can be sold directly. While the returns are meager, frankly, keeping them isn't very useful.
Farming in Cerim Crucible
Once you reach the endgame through your own efforts, this core dungeon becomes your primary source of gold. Each level in this dungeon consists of 10 randomly generated rooms, and your task is to clear all of them.
The dungeon's rewards primarily consist of rarer exalted gear, but defeating the final Echo Knight boss will grant you an additional chest containing a significant amount of gold.
To improve your efficiency in completing this dungeon, you need to collect a special resource called Traces while fighting regular enemies. These can then be exchanged for buffs at the vendors within the dungeon to enhance your character.
Furthermore, you can collect another item called Gloamseeds through daily adventures. These can unlock more permanent services at Cerim Crucible vendors, such as upgrading or repairing your gear within the dungeon.
Teamwork is always better
Together update released in January 2026 introduced a 4-player co-op system, allowing you to invite up to three friends to join your private domain. This makes it easier and safer to cooperate and earn gold in combat missions.
These are currently the main gold farming methods in No Rest for the Wicked. It's expected that with more updates and the future release of the full version, gold sources will become more diverse! Let's look forward to it!
