WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Ultimate Shaman Leveling Guide before Outland Opens

Category: WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Posted: Jan 21, 2026 Views: 6840

Compared to the two older servers, TBC Classic Anniversary brings many changes, the most attractive of which, and the one you can immediately experience in the pre-patch, is the new class and race.

The two main factions, Alliance and Horde, each received a new class and race, and more players will probably choose to experience them immediately.

If you are one of them, and your new character belongs to Alliance, then the class you'll be most interested in is Shaman. This guide will provide you with a leveling guide for this class, ensuring you reach level 60 before Phase 1 opens!

Do you need the level 58 character boost?

Before starting your leveling journey, you need to determine one thing: whether you have the intention or enough time to level from 0 to 60 on your own during the pre-patch.

If your answer is no, then you can choose to obtain the level 58 character boost, which is offered by WoW TBC Classic Anniversary specifically for players like you. After that, you only need to advance two levels on your own before Phase 1 opens.

However, please note that if you want to participate in more challenging raids or dungeons released later in the game, do not use the gear set rewards provided by the boost service, as it's practically garbage!

Shaman class introduction

If you are an Alliance character, then playing Shaman in TBC Classic Anniversary requires your race to be Draenei. If you are Horde, you can choose from Orc, Troll, or Tauren.

The combat advantage of this class lies primarily in providing damage or other attribute buffs to the entire party during combat through powerful totemic power and exclusive Heroism and Bloodlust.

Shamans have hybrid attributes and can be built into melee/ranged DPS or healing roles according to your preferences and needs, each corresponding to a class specialization. Therefore, your specific leveling path depends on your final chosen role/specialization.

Elemental Shaman leveling path

This specialization corresponds to a ranged DPS style, capable of providing spell hit and spell critical strike chance to the entire party solely through their talents, offering reliable support and damage without requiring rare gear.

However, in return for these advantages, Elemental Shamans do not receive additional benefits from gear, are highly dependent on mana, and have relatively poor survivability and defense.

If you choose this specialization for leveling from levels 1-60, as long as you wear a full set of basic gear, you can usually kill enemies before they get close, provided you focus on maximizing your damage output and mana regeneration.

Therefore, you need to focus on leveling different skills at different levels to maximize your leveling efficiency. If you find yourself short of skill upgrade resources, it's best to buy WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold to replenish.

Here are some skills we recommend you prioritize leveling up and their optimal ranks:

  • Windfury Totem - Rank 4
  • Fire Nova Totem - Rank 6
  • Lightning Bolt - Rank 11
  • Water Shield - Rank 1
  • Healing Wave - Rank 11
  • Lightning Shield - Rank 8
  • Chain Lightning - Rank 5
  • Wrath of Air Totem - Rank 1
  • Strength of Earth Totem - Rank 6
  • Mana Spring Totem - Rank 5
  • Magma Totem - Rank 5

Enhancement Shaman leveling path

This specialization is the complete opposite of Elemental Shaman, relying more heavily on gear. However, this also allows you to quickly pull and kill mobs using the buffs provided by gear.

Furthermore, Enhancement Shaman is more difficult to master because it requires you to time the release of totems and other damage-dealing skills perfectly; otherwise, you'll waste resources.

However, if you can meet these requirements, Enhancement Shaman is quite strong in both solo and group play. Therefore, it's actually a specialization more suitable for experienced players.

As for leveling, Enhancement Shaman offers two options: building upon enhancement, and then choosing elemental or restoration as your secondary DPS talent style.

The first path emphasizes offense, focusing on increasing damage output and skill rotation speed when unlocking and upgrading skills. The second path focuses on providing buffs to the team and enhancing your personal mana talents.

Regardless of your final playstyle, the following skills should be your primary focus:

  • Windfury Totem - Rank 4
  • Fire Nova Totem - Rank 6
  • Water Shield - Rank 1
  • Rockbiter Weapon - Rank 8
  • Healing Wave - Rank 11
  • Lightning Shield - Rank 8
  • Wrath of Air Totem - Rank 1
  • Strength of Earth Totem - Rank 6
  • Mana Spring Totem - Rank 5
  • Magma Totem - Rank 5
  • Earth Elemental Totem - Rank 1

Restoration Shaman leveling path

As a Shaman specialization focused on healing abilities, Restoration Shamans always play the healer role in a raid. Therefore, leveling up solo will be very slow and tedious. We recommend leveling up when primarily playing raid content.

Considering raids won't be available for a while after Phase 1 launch, and there isn't much cooperative content in the pre-patch, the level 58 boost service would be suitable if you don't want to fall behind due to a slow upgrade.

However, as long as you upgrade in time and acquire and equip decent gear, a max-level Restoration Shaman is a welcome teammate choice for any group.

Here are the skills you should focus on during leveling this specialization:

  • Chain Heal - Rank 4
  • Windfury Totem - Rank 4
  • Water Shield - Rank 1
  • Healing Wave - Rank 11
  • Stoneskin Totem - Rank 7
  • Wrath of Air Totem - Rank 1
  • Strength of Earth Totem - Rank 6
  • Mana Spring Totem - Rank 5
  • Windwall Totem - Rank 4
  • Earth Elemental Totem - Rank 1
  • Lesser Healing Wave - Rank 7

Summary

Each of the three Shaman specializations has its strengths, and it's not possible to simply say which is better. Therefore, you can decide which path to take to complete your leveling based on your specific needs and timing.

That concludes this introduction. We hope it has helped you gain a deeper understanding of WoW TBC Classic Anniversary! Have fun!
