WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Flying Ability and Mounts Help You to Outpace Others Faster | Don't Be Left Grounded!

Flying is the fastest mode of transportation in World of Warcraft (ignoring portals and magic), especially when adventuring across the vast continent of Azeroth, where you always want to reach your destination faster.
Based on this, The Burning Crusade first introduced the flying system in Outland, which was retained in TBC Classic servers launched in 2021, and now this feature has been included in TBC Classic Anniversary.
Considering that Anniversary version has some overall updates, to avoid any mistakes, we will provide information on the latest flying system and flying mounts based on this server. Even veteran players should be aware of this!

What is the flying system?
This system is essentially a character ability that you can learn, including both land and air flight. However, after learning it, you cannot fly directly; you need to ride any flying mount, unless you are a Druid.
Therefore, to fly in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary, you need to complete two steps: learn the flying skill from a trainer, and then obtain your flying mount through trade or other means.
It's worth noting that mounts will provide varying degrees of land/air movement speed bonuses based on their rarity, allowing you to reach your destination faster.
How to master the flying skill?
This skill requires your character to reach the level cap of 70 to learn, but if you're playing a Druid class, you can start learning it at level 68. However, regardless of the class, in TBC Classic Anniversary, you must wait until Phase 1 is released to unlock it.
Once you reach the required level, you can travel to the designated location within Outland area according to your faction to find the corresponding flying trainer and give them WoW TBC Classic Anniversary gold to begin learning.
- Alliance - Ilsa Blusterbrew - Wildhammer Stronghold in Shadowmoon Valley (/way 37.4 56.2)
- Horde - Olrokk - Shadowmoon Village in Shadowmoon Valley (/way 29.2 29.2)
Furthermore, the flying skill has two levels: Expert and Artisan. These correspond to different mount rarities and require different amounts of gold to learn:
- Expert Flying Skill - 800 gold - Rare Flying Mount
- Artisan Flying Skill - 5000 gold - Epic Flying Mount
How to obtain flying mounts?
There are four main ways to obtain flying mounts in the game. The mount's rarity and appearance depend on the difficulty of unlocking it. You can choose according to your abilities and needs.
Trading with vendors
There's a vendor next to each of the two flight trainers, whom you'll find quickly after learning the skill: Brunn Flamebeard (Alliance) and Dama Wildmane (Horde). They sell the following mounts:
Brunn Flamebeard:
- Rare: Golden Gryphon, Ebon Gryphon, and Snowy Gryphon
- Epic: Swift Blue Gryphon, Swift Red Gryphon, Swift Green Gryphon, and Swift Purple Gryphon
Dama Wildmane:
- Rare: Tawny Windrider, Blue Windrider, and Green Windrider
- Epic: Swift Red Windrider, Swift Green Windrider, Swift Yellow Windrider, and Swift Purple Windrider
Rare mounts provide 60% movement speed on both land and in the air, while epic mounts provide 100% (land) and 280% (air). Generally, we recommend using regular land mounts when on land.
Raising Outland faction reputation
Once Outland opens, you can join a faction and increase your reputation level by completing related quests. Three factions will offer exclusive epic mounts upon reaching specific reputation levels, but you'll still need to consume gold.
- Cenario Expedition faction - Hippogryph (1 option): 1600 gold
- Netherwing faction - Netherwing Drake (6 options): 200 gold (first mount free)
- Sha'tari Skyguard faction - Nether Ray (5 options): 200 gold
Participating in PvP arena battles
With the introduction of the arena system in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary, at least four seasons are expected. At the end of each season, the game will award specific titles to team members based on their team's overall ranking in their region.
The highest tier is Gladiator title, earned by ranking in the top 0.5% of your team. Only with this title can you unlock PvP reward flying mount, Nether Drake, which provides a movement speed bonus of up to 310%!
Note that to obtain Gladiator title, besides a high team ranking, your individual arena rating must be no more or lower than 100 points than your team rating, and your match participation rate must be at least 20%.
The expected specific title names for each season are:
- Season 1: Infernal Gladiator
- Season 2: Merciless Gladiator
- Season 3: Vengeful Gladiator
- Season 4: Brutal Gladiator
Playing specific professions to craft
In addition to classes, you can choose professions for your character. These allow you to master additional skills, such as mining, gathering, or crafting specific items.
Based on this, the profession engineering can craft two exclusive flying mounts. These items are less like mounts and more like whimsical, inanimate vehicles:
- Flying Machine Control (rare)
- Turbo-Charged Flying Machine Control (epic)
To obtain these items, you need to choose engineering as your profession and find the corresponding profession trainer in Outland to learn the corresponding schema.
Special class - Druid
Druids not only learn flight at level 68, but they are also the only class in the game that can fly without a mount!
Learning to obtain Flight Form will allow you to fly, and unlocking this form will immediately unlock Expert flight skill level. Of course, you need to continue learning to upgrade to Artisan.
Alternatively, you can complete the entire Morthis Whisperwing questline and obtain rewards including Swift Flight Form after defeating the final boss - this upgraded form provides the same speed bonus as the epic mount.
Once (Swift) Flight Form is activated, it allows you to transform into a raven as a Druid and fly. Compared to other classes, Druid can save you a significant amount of gold and offer much higher herb gathering efficiency.
This concludes our introduction to acquiring flying abilities and mounts in WoW TBC Classic Anniversary. For now, your best option is to reach level 60 before Phase 1 opens, after which you can start learning the flying skill much faster!
